This is an Air Force recreation area on a good sized pond with a campground up the hill in the woods. They have cabins, picnic area including a large screened room, playground, boat rental and a poorly maintained campground. It has recently been opened to the public. We have used the campground many times in our trips to or from Florida but this time we were informed that the one night camping fee is $40/night for military, $55 for non military campers. Some camp sites not level, all are sand or dirt pads, electrical outlets in poor condition, cable didn’t work. Make sure you bring your wallet if you want to spend any time here; everything is for rent including $2.50 for daily rent of a frisbee, $8 for ice chest, $10 with ice. We can only surmise that they have lost all MWR funding or that they have transformed a once-nice military recreational facility into a profit center, that now appears to be out of the price range for young military families. I can no longer recommend this facility.

We only wanted an overnight stop in central Georgia, didn’t need any amenities. We would have done a Walmart or other roadside stops but it was too hot to be comfortable in August without air conditioning. We found this listing and are glad we did It’s about 3 miles off the interstate so it’s very quiet. For $27 we had full hookups in a pull through site. It’s a small rural campground but it has a pool, bath house & laundry (we didn’t use either). The owner was extremely nice, answered our call after hours and let us come in near dark. Highly recommend!

We camped here 4 nights in June 2021. Our site, 32B is probably the nicest one here - great views down the river, access for kayaking or fishing, all day shade - almost perfect. Only drawback is that the site is pretty close to site #33, nothing to separate the sites. I’m amazed there are no reviews on here for 2021 even though campground almost full Friday & Saturday night. Staff very friendly, grounds clean & well maintained. We’ll be back if we’re in this area again.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park is set in an area of cedar forests. It includes a historic farm across the highway, the Sadie Ford Farm where they had many family activities scheduled for the July 4th weekend. There were also many activities for kids in the park as well. Our campsite, 69 was gravel, located on an inside corner but relatively easy to back our 27 foot trailer into. In loop 2, many campsites are pretty close together. You are supposed to clean your site before leaving, some people didn’t. Take precautions to prevent ticks if you are hiking here. We hiked the Cedar Run trail trough meadows & some forested areas but when we returned to our trailer we found 10 ticks on our dog and some on us too. We also rode bikes through the park and on a road through a beautiful forest to Norene, TN - fun road with lots of hills, very picturesque. We would camp here again if in the area.

We arrived after a rainy afternoon to a site with mud surrounding it and big puddles. Our picnic table is on the left side of the trailer, inaccessible through the mud. The pads are paved but very narrow, leaving only a marry walkway. Some sites have an pad that ties to picnic table pad behind it. The space between sites is fairly large and staggered for privacy. The park itself is very pretty with quite a few activities planned for the weekend, both hikes and family friendly art projects. Lovely waterfalls and nice trails. Watch out for ticks!

As others have said, there is a new entrance to the campground on Country Club Drive but Waze, Google maps, RV Life GPS for RVs and others are not up to date on the change. If you are approaching the park from the north on US 41, there are brown signs stating the entrance to the campground is second right (very short notice). It is about 1/2 mile north of the main park entrance.

Cell service (AT&T) is almost nonexistent, no WiFi in the camp, no over the air TV stations. We did not use bath houses. Lots of big trees have fallen over throughout the campground but have not been removed, still have mounds of dirt where roots are exposed.

This would be a good day use park but we would not camp here again.

What can you say about this magnificent National park? Such fabulous scenery, lots of traffic because everyone wants to enjoy it. Campground with huge trees, lots of space between sites, sites laid out in interesting pattern rather than parallel rows. Many tenters (sadly in the rain).

A few hints: we entered the park from the north, took backroads through Wares Valley to the west of Sevierville & Pigeon Forge to avoid the traffic but 9 miles or less from the campground found ourselves on road which did not allow trailers. That meant we had to go back into Pigeon Forge & south into the park. Fortunately there is a bypass around Gatlinburg.

While we were there in late June, Laurel Falls was mobbed - at least a hundred cars parked along road to traverse trail that is uneven & very narrow in sections. We went at 7:30 am our last day & had good hike with minimal traffic on the trail, but by the time we got back the crowds were building quickly. We enjoyed Little River Trail near Elkmont and Gatlinburg trail near Sugarlands visitor center.

Lovely well maintained park with electric-only sites, a bit expensive at $20 per night. All back-in sites, water is available at several sites around park to fill your tanks. Dump station on the way out of the park. We’ve stayed here twice, will stay again in hot weather when we need electric (too hot for boon docking!)

Picturesque county park just a mile off I-35, exit 180 in Thornton, Iowa. Electric only sites in well maintained park with some trees. Dump station & water on the grounds. A small stream runs through the area and there is a footbridge over it to a park with playground & frisbee golf on the other side. A cornfield to the east with a row of bluebird boxes completes the country scene.

Directions from our GPS were incorrect. Turn west at exit 180, then turn left into park just before you reach the town.

Perfect overnight stop for $12. We will be back!
