Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 21, 2023Picturesque county park just a mile off I-35, exit 180 in Thornton, Iowa. Electric only sites in well maintained park with some trees. Dump station & water on the grounds. A small stream runs through the area and there is a footbridge over it to a park with playground & frisbee golf on the other side. A cornfield to the east with a row of bluebird boxes completes the country scene.
Directions from our GPS were incorrect. Turn west at exit 180, then turn left into park just before you reach the town.
Perfect overnight stop for $12. We will be back!

Close to I 35, very nice county park. Clean bathrooms and showers. Self check in no reservations. Sites are electric only, but with water and dump station. Also a small grocery and gas store down the road.

20/30AMP service, newer playground equipment, short walk to disc golf course / picnic area, sites reasonably level, gravel pads, well maintained park, nice bathroom w/shower, small dump station, water available, no reservation taken. Open spring, closes in fall, don't know dates. Only have 4G phones, unsure about 5G. Stayed here several times over the years, very nice place. We camp about 90 nights year-round in a pickup camper.

Only one or two of the sites are level. And there is some sort of creepy long-term camper, not sure what the deal is, but they take their noisy truck everywhere, including just to go to the bathroom and back, waking us up late at night.
Anyone who chooses site 13 should expect people walking through the site to get to the bridge, to the other side of the park.
The noise throughout the day is unbearable. Giant tractors and tractor trailers and other vehicles without any sort of muffler or care for other people driving loudly right past all day long.
The worst part, though, is that these are some of the most unfriendly people I've ever encountered. People who look right at you, 10 feet away as you say hello, then walk right by without even acknowledging your presence. Flat affect, ignorant, just awful. Bad mistake staying here.
