Spent two nights here. Arrived around 1230 on a Monday, only a handful of other campers and camp was about half full that night. The next day camp was completely full by 5 pm. Most people seem to stay 1-2 nights. Enjoyed the flower trail, we clocked 7.5 miles and took us about 4 hours. Do yourself a favor and hike the fire road (out the back of camp past the turnaround) instead of the trail by the lake (poorly maintained and steep). Road noise was considerable during the day but died down at night. Breezy which helped with the bugs.

We arrived mid-week around 1130 and had no trouble finding a spot, I’d say we had our pick of 15+ of the FCFS sites. It was full by late afternoon. Some sites are better than others, but most of them would have been pretty easy to fit our 32’ fifth wheel. Sites had nice vegetation between. Walk to the hot springs was about 10 min, we went twice while we were there.

They accept credit card with a $2 transaction fee, or cash. Overflow had quite a few ppl in it when we left the next morning. Seemed like a lot of turnover each day, I wouldn’t plan on spending more than one day myself.

Easy access off of highway with many sites to choose from early in the week. Only a handful of campers here while we were here 7/9-7/11. It seems like they have done recent work on the CG, many large mostly level sites. The only thing is whatever dirt they are using to level sites seems like it would be pretty slimy in the rain, but it didn’t rain while we were here so can’t say for sure. A few could accommodate any size rig. Mosquitoes were quite bad- we didn’t spend any time outside, and when we tried to go for the little hike to the river one morning it was so bad we just walked the loop and went back to the trailer… about 10-15 min to information center in Dawson.

We dumped at one of the RV parks for $5 and water fill for approx $1/25 gal.

Very nice campground, nearly empty when we were here 6/6-6/7. We tried to understand the reserved placards as almost half the site have them- however they were all marked like someone was coming in. When we asked the host they said that those were for those who made online reservations even if they weren’t occupied/they had no one coming in. FCFS had to have a blank post. There were plenty to choose from but it was a little odd- didn’t investigate if you could make same day reservations or not.

Loops are all paved with gravel spots- almost all had very level parking spots. Turns at ends of loops we’re a little tight, we ended up rubbing a tree on one with our 32ft fifth wheel, big bummer. Showers were free and clean but we didn’t use.

Camp host came around to check us in, was very friendly took cash and I believe credit card.

This campground met our needs, but that was about it… we were excited when we got there, not too many people, some fairly nice sites and hiking right from camp. Pull through sites are considered “premium” so they’re $25/night. They were really the only semi-easy option for our 32ft fifth wheel. We found a spot at the end with no one else around, thought we’d be set… and then someone took the site right behind us with kids that were very happy to be in the woods (can’t really blame them). And then someone took the site directly across from us and proceeded to run their generator the.entire.day. I’ve never camped somewhere where someone ran their generator for 14+ hours straight. There are no strict generator hours, only quiet time from like 11pm-6am. There were also people that just let their dogs bark and bark while tied up outside their trailer.

The campground itself looked tired, lots of potholes. Too many mosquitoes to hike, no potable water.

I think your experience here will be largely dependent on who else you’re sharing the campground with…

This is a very nice RV park! Sites are level, easy to back into if you don’t have a pull through, you park on grass, and there felt like a teensy bit more room between sites than normal. The only downside is the road noise during the day, but it dies down at night. Laundromat was incredibly clean, reasonably priced. Easy walking distance into town, nice trail across the road that leads into town.

Camped here for one night with 32 ft fifth wheel- pulled into first large spot on the right as we didn’t want to get too far in, but could see other larger trailers further in. We ended up here after trying to get a spot further up the road at Sawtooth Canyon CG but not finding one (4pm Thursday). This was fine for the night- a little bit of road noise but not too bad. Seemed like it was going to be busy with OHV for the weekend so we headed out after one night.

This fit our needs- close to Sand Dunes NP, easy access for 5th wheel, and free. Great mountain views with plenty of spots for all sizes. Road was in okay condition- lots of washboard but we just took it slow. That being said we parked in first turnout large enough for us. Other people drive the road at about 40mph which doesn’t really seem necessary… we walked up towards the end of the road, didn’t make it to the top, there are spots as the elevation starts to climb but only suitable for tents, would recommend finding a spot in the flats if you have a trailer or motorhome.

A little bit of trash in the area but not too bad. Very windy and cold for us, but wasn’t a surprise. Would guess it’s pretty much always windy here. Had someone park 20ft from our trailer our last night which we didn’t understand as there were plenty of other options, luckily we were leaving the next morning.

We stayed here one night to charge our batteries, fill and dump, and do laundry. For that purpose it was okay, we had full hookups. After seeing the other two RV parks on the way in, I think this is the nicer of the 3- at least there are trees and you’re a street away from the hwy as opposed to right on it. The other road is very noisy though, but maybe if you were further into the park it would be quieter (our site was right next to it).

Laundry facility is small but doable, 7 washers 6 dryers. A little expensive- $5 for a wash and .25/4min on the dryers. No change machine in the laundromat so if you’re planning to do it after office hours make sure you have your own change.

Couldn’t get the Wi-Fi to work, but cell service is ok enough to work for us.

Stayed here three nights over Canada Day weekend. We drove both loops and stayed in the upper loop (not next to the lake). This loop seemed to have more pull through sites and sites were well spaced. It was never full, pretty quiet, met our needs. There were a fair amount of mosquitoes but tis the season. The trail down to the other campground loop was a bit overgrown, but passable with a bit of bushwhacking.

Do yourself a favor and buy a few camping passes online and save $2 a night on campsite fee.
