We stayed here 6/14-6/18. We were able to make reservations a few days in advance for 2 nights and then decided to extend and we’re able to get a spot by walking to the reservation center. There are 700+ sites so I would imagine you could almost always find something… the loops that are closer to the outer/back edge are still tucked in the trees while the center of the CG and towards the reservation center are in the area that I presume was logged for beetle death. They seemed to be most of the full hookup sites.

You definitely don’t feel that the CG is so large- each loop is 10-15 sites, both loops we stayed in were well spaced. We stayed in 47A (electric) and 30D (no hookups no fire) and both were great. We were able to fit our 32’ fifth wheel in 30D which the website had as 27’ or less no problem. Free clean showers and nice bathrooms in the loops.

Would definitely stay here again, great spot to go do other activities around Jasper. Site pricing is dependent on what services you have.

Camped here for one night with 32 ft fifth wheel- pulled into first large spot on the right as we didn’t want to get too far in, but could see other larger trailers further in. We ended up here after trying to get a spot further up the road at Sawtooth Canyon CG but not finding one (4pm Thursday). This was fine for the night- a little bit of road noise but not too bad. Seemed like it was going to be busy with OHV for the weekend so we headed out after one night.

Very nice campground, nearly empty when we were here 6/6-6/7. We tried to understand the reserved placards as almost half the site have them- however they were all marked like someone was coming in. When we asked the host they said that those were for those who made online reservations even if they weren’t occupied/they had no one coming in. FCFS had to have a blank post. There were plenty to choose from but it was a little odd- didn’t investigate if you could make same day reservations or not.

Loops are all paved with gravel spots- almost all had very level parking spots. Turns at ends of loops we’re a little tight, we ended up rubbing a tree on one with our 32ft fifth wheel, big bummer. Showers were free and clean but we didn’t use.

Camp host came around to check us in, was very friendly took cash and I believe credit card.

A great spot for a layover day. We needed to get some errands done (laundry and grocery shopping) so we came late morning, ran our errands, and stayed the night. Laundry in Salida was nice but expensive, easy grocery shopping with Safeway and Natural Grocers. Dump is $10, free freshwater fill (limit 150 gallons), fenced bark park, quite a few RV spots. We parked as far from the road as we could and weren’t really bothered by road noise. Great option for those passing through!

We drove up here with our 32 ft fifth wheel, wouldn’t recommend. Road was mostly nicely graded when it was dirt, but it was moon dust. Minimal washboard but I’m sure with more use it gets worse. At end of first paved section there were quite a few potholes, then it turned to dirt, back to paved and ended in dirt. We came on a Tuesday and there was only one spot left- we parked and walked the loop, good thing cause it would have been a little rough. Some spots right along the (small) lake and the rest were more on the hillside. Turning around was luckily fairly easy, I would not recommend this unless you’re <25’.

This campground met our needs, but that was about it… we were excited when we got there, not too many people, some fairly nice sites and hiking right from camp. Pull through sites are considered “premium” so they’re $25/night. They were really the only semi-easy option for our 32ft fifth wheel. We found a spot at the end with no one else around, thought we’d be set… and then someone took the site right behind us with kids that were very happy to be in the woods (can’t really blame them). And then someone took the site directly across from us and proceeded to run their generator the.entire.day. I’ve never camped somewhere where someone ran their generator for 14+ hours straight. There are no strict generator hours, only quiet time from like 11pm-6am. There were also people that just let their dogs bark and bark while tied up outside their trailer.

The campground itself looked tired, lots of potholes. Too many mosquitoes to hike, no potable water.

I think your experience here will be largely dependent on who else you’re sharing the campground with…

Wow what a place! This is your spot if you have a big rig or larger trailer. Our 32’ fifth wheel fit without any issue- sites are mostly level, gravel, and angled correctly for backing in. We were along the river/creek in site 31, and the views out our back and dining widow couldn’t be beat. I would say the group of sites where we were was probably the best for quality and views. Some of the sites in the lower numbers were in the trees, no views.

Pit toilets were very clean- cleaned every day. There is no water, no cell service, and we didn’t have any road noise. Seemed like campers rolled in starting around 5pm and most left by 9am. Reservable now, during the week we were there there seemed to be a few avail as FCFS every night except for weekends.

We were hoping to be able to dump at Waterfowl on our way to Jasper but no such luck- campground and dump were still closed for the season…There is no cell service at all, we had some down by Lake Louise and also up by the Icefield Center/Columbia Icefield.

We stayed here 3 nights in early July. One of the busier government campgrounds on our way to Alaska, but proximity to Whitehorse makes it so. Seems like turnover of campsites is much lower in general, only a handful open up each day. We arrived around 1130/12 and there were still a few to choose from, but earlier in the day is better as it seems to be full most afternoons.

The outer loop is better for bigger rigs, a little tight to navigate the inner loops (we’re in 32’ fifth wheel). We found a pull through that worked, parked, and then walked the rest of the way to see if there was anything better. Site 43 is hands down the best of the place and can accommodate any size rig.

Pros- about 15 min to downtown Whitehorse, good hiking right from CG, sites aren’t right on top of each other, creek and playground for kids

Cons- people drive fast (we weren’t next to a speed bump and ppl were speeding by us making dust and noise), traffic in the afternoons as ppl drive around for a spot, noise from the road and also airport (not too bad but it’s there)

Overall a good spot as a base camp.

We arrived mid-week around 1130 and had no trouble finding a spot, I’d say we had our pick of 15+ of the FCFS sites. It was full by late afternoon. Some sites are better than others, but most of them would have been pretty easy to fit our 32’ fifth wheel. Sites had nice vegetation between. Walk to the hot springs was about 10 min, we went twice while we were there.

They accept credit card with a $2 transaction fee, or cash. Overflow had quite a few ppl in it when we left the next morning. Seemed like a lot of turnover each day, I wouldn’t plan on spending more than one day myself.
