We had a great stay here- booked into an ‘A’ site and had no trouble finding one that would work for our 32 ft fifth wheel. Oddly there are some A sites in the B loop, they’re marked. Water available, but specifically states not for filling RV tanks. Great hikes eighth from camp, easy drive to front of park for other hikes and the visitor center. We didn’t see any wildlife in camp. Saw Denali one day, otherwise it was under cloud cover. We stayed 3 nights, felt like we were able to do almost all the hikes we wanted to in the area. Nice ranger talks every night at 730.

We stayed here in late September, one weeks before the closure date. Loops A and B open FCFS, loop C closed. Bathrooms open, dump station open with water for fill. There were only about 4 other campers in loop B with us- plenty of sites to choose from. Surprising number of pull throughs, some too tight for our 32’ fifth wheel. We ended up driving the loop backwards to orient the trailer the correct direction for our stairs to open away from the road since there was no one around. Many of the pull throughs are on the inside of the loop which orients them incorrectly for most trailers.

Lots of trees and trails right from the campground, all dog friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would consider coming back if ever in the area. Some trails further down hwy 20 are closed due to fires, but there are plenty of others to choose from.

Dump station very nice with black water flush and potable fill water available.

Weather here two nights in our 32 ft fifth wheel. Water was not on yet, FCFS for us. Campground had about 4-8 other campers, with most coming in in the late afternoon and staying one night. Great hiking right from camp, we also drove to Devils Tower one day. Easy to get to from I90.

We were able to drive both loops no problem, had our pick of a few sites that would accommodate our size, ended up in site 7 which we had no trouble leveling in. Only downside was the site had some trash and dog poop, which we had to clean up… overall very nice, in the pines.

This was a very inexpensive 50amp electric hookup spot. Sites 1 and 2 are pull throughs, could accommodate any size rig. We had no trouble fitting 32 ft fifth wheel in our spot (#6). RV spots are mostly close to the host spot. Non electric and tent spots around back and the other loops. We felt safe the whole time, there were a few well lived camp spots, but we weren’t close. There is onsite security at the front, not sure if they’re there 24 hrs. Fully operational dump with black flush and potable fill, all threaded hoses.

We arrived with no reservation, and the office told us to make it online or via phone- you can’t pay at the campground. Wi-Fi available- nothing impressive but enough to download a few books. Bathrooms are locked with code , but we didn’t use them. The only negative was the highway noise, but to be expected.

We didn’t stay here, but drove through and moved on. We were heavily in the clouds so can’t say how pretty it is but I can say we definitely wouldn’t have fit with our 32ft fifth wheel. We even had trouble making the turn to drive the loop a second time. The only site that would have been a possibility was the host site which was empty and said it was blocked for the season for hosts only. There are some sites before the actual CG where there was a fifth wheel but that only works if no one else is there (I think there were technically 3-4 sites in that space). We moved on down to glacier CG in Valdez.

We came here on our way up to anchorage after visiting/staying in Homer. Got in about 3pm on a Tuesday, plenty of FCFS spots available. Campground was deceivingly large, any size rug would fit depending on your site. Our sit was a pull through, level, and paved. They were demolishing one of the vault toilets right across from us- pretty noisy in the am. It was quite rainy and grey while we were here, would have loved to enjoy the trails right from camp, but that wasn’t in the cards for us. Salmon were in the river which was fun to see from the viewing platform. Would definitely stay here again, sites are well spaced, no road noise. We’re coming up on the tail end of the season I think so it wasn’t too busy mid week but I imagine it can get hard to score a spot in high season.

We stayed here for one night 8/22. Very few mosquitoes during the day, more at night as to be expected. We were the only campers until about 5pm, a handful of others rolled in. Plenty of sites, many don’t look like they’ve been used for the season. Dry camping- there appeared to be a small water tank to fill up jugs but that was it. Half of the vault toilets were locked. Quite a few potholes on the road in. $20 seems a bit high for what you get…does not appear to be well maintained. But it met our needs and was quiet and right off the highway.

We weren’t able to stay here, or really any dispersed areas nearby because all the roads were still closed- I just wanted to throw this up in case others were thinking of dispersing this time of year. We didn’t realize the roads would be closed, the only area you could get to was the very lower part of this road where the first vault toilet is- and it was busy and muddy… forest service said the roads should be opening up soon, but maybe call ahead to double check if you’re headed this way… forest service had some recommendations for the area, but we ended up at Gros Ventre CG instead.

We stayed 4 nights in the first loop. Was easy to find a spot to accommodate our 32 ft fifth wheel, mostly back ins but there are one or two pull throughs in each loop. Drive in was very scenic, although wildlife was at a minimum our entire stay. Because we have a toddler riding the bus wasn’t an option (they require you byo car seat) so we hiked the main road in each direction and also along the River. It rained a few times, and we mostly had low clouds so no views of Denali. Mosquitoes were minimal for our stay. Only downside was noise during generator hours and dusty drive in.

There were quite a few empty spots every night, and unfortunately when we talked to the campsite registration they said they’re unable to release sites that have no-shows, so even tho the CG was fully booked it wasn’t actually full. This is the same case for Riley and Savage.

We were able to piece together a week stay with only 1 move in late May/early June. We were most nervous about getting parked in this CG after reading reviews, but we were able to make it work in both of our sites (D170 and D162) with our 32 Dr fifth wheel. Almost exclusively pull through sites, a handful were fairly sloped and would have made parking very challenging, but not ours luckily.

Dump station on your left as you come into campground, only one spot that can get a little busy as campers are checking out in the mornings. Free showers in loop A (we didn’t use but heard they were good). Sites are fairly spread out, but things do start to feel a little busy if the CG is full- the only days of that were Fri/Sat for our stay…

Bike trail leaves right from camp and dogs are allowed so very nice for pet owners. Lake is about a 5 min walk from D loop where the dogs can swim… no good cell service, visitor center (10 min walk) has free Wi-Fi.
