Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on August 22, 2023This is a very rough and tumble campground, very overgrown sites. Stayed with our 30 ft travel trailer and only found one or two sites accommodating enough. Better than staying at the in town rv parks though. Site number 87 was the best by far. Difficult to maneuver through the campground, interior roads are tight. Each lane through is one way and sites on some are backwards….we had to turn around and go the opposite way n our road to enter our site properly. 20 dollars for military rv dry sites. Not bad for a Valdez homebase.

We arrived on a Saturday, which I was nervous about, around 230pm and there were plenty of spots available. The reservable spots are the electric, either 30 amp or 50. Those spots are gravel, mostly level, and more expensive (still pretty cheap for electric hookup tho). They also have some RV pad sites which more seemed like larger pull throughs (but most would have been pretty tight for our 32 ft fifth wheel). We ended up driving one of the roads and then chose a spot which was on the outside loop near the waterfall. I want to say you could probably get any size rig in- we’re 50+ ft combined and had no issue. Only noise was from ppl driving the loop, it was very quiet.
I will agree that the inner roads are a little narrow and some of the sites get really small. Quite a few looked like they hadn’t seen anyone for the season. There is a dump with a flush and also potable fill. Best of all there are free, very hot showers.
We spent 4 days in Valdez, and in our time saw most of not all other camping options. All the RV parks are completely packed like sardines in gravel lots right on the busy roads and Allison Point was parking spots along the road. This spot is by far the best and cheapest option.

We weren't sure if this campground was open to civilians. After some digging we read it is open to the public. We were surprised the place wasn't packed out. As all the RV parks in town (only 10 minutes away) were parked slide to slide. That isn't our style of camping. This campground is an awesome place to camp (but be prepared to get eaten by bugs unless you have a tent for sitting outside). Our 5th wheel is 33ft long and we has no problems parking in this campground. There are a few spots that are pull thrus. We got one of them and find our truck which is 19ft. also in the camping spot. You are right down the road from the Valdez Glacier, which side note you need to kayak there! Take a tour or drop your kayak in the water. It is awesome. We also had 4G service with Verizon which was a must for us.

We went to the campground and didn't stay. It looked like a nice campground but we were looking for the city park which is right down the street.
The spots we saw looked nice. each spot is a secluded spot. The price to stay at this campground is $20 for no electric. $30 for 30 amp and $35 for 50m amp. There is a dump station and potable water at the park

Saving grace… they had showers, plenty of shade, and walking distance to the glacier. The 25.00 rate was for a tent site.

This is a "military" park but anyone can stay here. I haven't seen that before with any of the listed military parks so we moved here and it's wonderful. Private wooded sites, some dry, some with electric. The $35 was with electric. Site was level, dirt, gravel and grass with picnic table and fire ring. Extremely quiet day and night while we were there in July. This is a very walkable park if you want to stroll around also a quick ride into Valdez. Valdez Glacier / Lake is just down the road (which we kayaked to the glacier). There is fresh water fill and dump station. We will definitely stay here next time. With WeBoost our Verizon service was great.
