My wife found this campground on Hipcamp. We stayed for two nights in Site 5. The campground is fairly new and was very neat and clean. It has electric, water and sewer. We were able to get local TV on our antenna. If you have children, there is no swimming pool or playground. Wifi was good. There are 7 RV sites and two cabins. Site 5 was on the end so we had more room on the passenger/awning side of our trailer. Sally, the owner, was very reachable and she sent a number of messages and texts with instructions and directions on getting to the campground. It took just minutes to get into Wimberley. My only disagreement with the directions are DO NOT take River Road to get to the campground. It is not RV friendly. Take Green Acres Rd.

We stayed in the Red Arroyo campground at San Angelo State Park for one night. There was good separation between sites. It was a Monday night in June so it was not very crowded. Our site backed onto the lake which was disappointing because it was down. Site was asphalt and reasonably level. We were able to get local TV stations on our antenna. As with most state parks, there was no wifi. There are longhorns at the entrance to the park.

We have not stayed here before and we found the park to be very nice and thought our site (#8) was great. It had an asphalt pad that was fairly level with a slope towards the rear. Electric and water worked fine. There was a lot of open space around our site. We don't have kids camping with us but this would have been a good site for kids to play and run around. Armadillos came through in the evening both nights we were there. This is also a Dark Sky campground and the stars were amazing to see. There were a lot of campers with tubes for floating down the river and you can rent tubes at the park headquarters. We rented kayaks from Peddler's Porch in Junction. First time we've done that. It seemed reasonable, $35 per kayak for the whole day but they took cash only. We would definitely go back to this park again.

We picked this campground, in part, because it had some trees on the property rather than just open field. It did have the trees and was nice. When we arrived, there was an envelope on the office door with our name which had a map and our site location. It had been raining in the area and there was a lot of water pooling in the streets and pads. We were very happy when we got to Site 84 to find that it was dry but we saw a number of sites where the trailer/RV was surrounded by water. This is the only negative that we found. The pads are concrete and our site was pretty level and electric, water and sewer worked fine. There was no cable but we could get local TV on our antenna. We had 2 bars on the campground wifi. The campground is also near the airport but there was no significant airport noise at night.

We were passing through Wichita Falls and had some tire issues and found this park. We were very pleased with it. The staff was friendly and we saw them out maintaining the park. Our site was level side to side and pretty level front to back. All connections, including the sewer connection, were towards the front of the trailer so it was a long run for our sewer line. While we don't have a dog, the park is very dog friendly with two areas, one fenced, for dogs. The park sits along the Wichita River and there is also a paved walking trail along the river that you can access from the park. We were able to get some OTA channels on our television. Wifi at our site was 3-4 bars. It looked like there was a wifi repeater on a pole at Site 32, so not far from us.

We stayed in the Elephant Rock campground for two nights. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time so we didn't really see much of the area or hike around. We had a lakeview site with a nice view of the water and the site was relatively level. But there was heavy runoff of sand/mud from the rains onto the cement pad. For that reason, I would not select Site # 66 again. We had 1 bar with ATT.

We picked this campground, in part, because it had mature trees throughout. The grounds are on the side of a mountain and the campground slopes in a number of directions. This was probably the least level site we had during our two week trip in June. We enjoyed the campground and the trees. There appeared to be a large number of long term campers there. When we checked in, the owner called Steve. He lives full time and just helps out. He came up on a golf cart and led us to our site. Once there, Steve directed us as we backed into our site. He was very helpful and seems to know about each sites quirks or dangers, such as getting too close to a tree. The pads are a loose gravel. Electric, water and sewer all were fine. We used cable for the first time and it worked well. We had 2 bars on the wifi in the camp. Our site did not have a picnic table and there probably wasn't room for one. It rained much of the time we were there and we did not see a lot of puddling or pools of water. There were two clothes washers and two dryers but one dryer was not working. This campground does not have a lot of amenities for children, no pool or playground.

This was my first stay at a COE campground and we were very impressed with this one. The rate I paid included a 50% reduction with my National Parks Senior Pass. Check in was smooth. There is a gatehouse and a friendly woman manning it who checked us in. We stayed in site 11 which is the first of three camping areas. All the sites in this section (sites 9-15) are FHU. The grounds are kept very neatly, the crushed granite around each campsite is raked and the site was fairly level. Backing in was not tough but the site is up on incline but the main part of site is generally level. Although the lake level was down, you had a nice view of the lake from this site. Some of the sites have picnic tables that are covered and some don't. Sites 10 and 11 had covers over the tables. It rained some while we were there and while our site was fine, water did pool in front of Site 10.
We heard a little noise from the airport but nothing that disturbed us.

This was our first visit to this state park. Site 15 is a pull thru site with electric, water and sewer. All worked well. It was not heavily shaded but the picnic table has a roof over it for shade. The sites opposite us (such as 3 or 4) provided a little more shade during the day. The pad is asphalt and was fairly level. As others have noted, no cell service or wifi. The Interpretive Center does have wifi which you can access inside (when it's open) or outside if closed. We did tours at McDonald Observatory, drove up the Skyline Drive and hiked the Montezuma Quail trail (nice views overlooking the campground). We saw deer, a javalina and a number of colorful birds we've never seen in the Houston area at our camp site. There are two bird watching areas where they have a number of bird feeders out which was nice.
