Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on December 26, 2022Airport Park just re- opened on March 5, 2016 from the floods of May 2015. They are still working on the lower section. We enjoy this park due to its location to Baylor University and the new downtown shopping of the HGTV show "Fixer Upper" store Magnolia Market. The park has several sites right on the lake. We had the perfect site #17 right on the water with no one near us. The airport is close by but it does not cause enough noise to ruin the experience. The bathroom is old but clean.

Don't worry that it's called Airport Park and in fact near the airport. There is very little air traffic and the noise didn't bother us at all. The facilities are well-kept and very clean. We were on site 11. If there had been a large trailer or RV on site 10 our great view of the lake would have been blocked, but site 10 is "out of order" from floods a few years back.

The worst thing was finding the right road...google delivered us to a blocked road where we could see the park but not get there. Campsite 34 is not particularly level but is at the end of the row. We took a walking tour and decided site #18 would be best choice to stay in followed by #17. Both are pretty level and have good views of the lake. All the campsites have good lake views and I think our 34’ Airstream would have fit any site. Bathrooms are clean, not heated. Full hookups at all the sites.

Airport park closed till October 2018 for repairs according to gate person
We loved the full hookups with water and electric! We lucked out and chose a site with a nice tree for shade. Not all sites have trees. Great value for the money with a bonus of a dump station! Nice personnel at the gate. Quiet neighbors with lights out. Nice walk for the puppies.

Friendly and helpful hosts greet you at the gate, which is locked from 10PM to 6AM, so you can't enter during those hours. Roads are easy to navigate but there were some low hanging branches at the entrance to our loop which contacted the top of our trailer. Sites are level and about 50% of them have some shade. Some have nice views of the water. Restrooms/showers were clean but extremely hot inside. Water pressure was 80 psi so bring a regulator for your rv. Also there was no water for about 3 hours due to a leak. Electricity also went out for a few minutes. Much of the park was closed due to flood damage, but is scheduled to reopen in September. Park is very convenient to Waco, and is a good place to watch general aviation aircraft. There is also a good ramp for boaters.

Made reservations 173 days prior to arriving for a 2-day weekend stay. Disappointed to discover that RECREATION.GOV website misrepresented Site #14 as SHADY - what a joke! There were two scrawny cedar trees that created NO shade! So we were baking in the sun! There are some nice shade trees closer to the water, but nothing on the actual campsite.
Site #14, full-hook-up site, is directly across the cove from the lake boat launch where there are two street lights, so there is no need for a flashlight thanks to these lights, which are on all night long!!
Site #14 pull-thru has direct access to the lake, but it not directly on the lake. Very large campsite with ample space for numerous tents (not sure what the policy is for tents on the same site).
The entrance gate is locked 10pm-6am, but you can exit during that time.
Lots of flooding evidence with large debris piles. Gate personnel encouraged collecting debris for campfires.

We setup right next to Lake Waco, we enjoyed a light breeze coming off the lake most of the time. We arrived after the gate house closed but before the gates closed. Sites look level but we needed to reposition a couple times to get everything thing level and maximize the view. All sites come with covered picnic table and fire ring. Not many trees so shade is hard to find. Was a great place to stay and is close to Waco. Only negative was the bathhouse needed some attention. But overall this is a good place to stay

These campsites are very well maintained. Easy to get to it and easy back in. Roads are good. Quiet other than the occasional plane taking off right across the rd. We did not use the shower/bathroom facilities so I can't comment on that. Our site..28 had full hook ups incl sewer, a fire ring and picnic table but it does not have a cover over the table. Some do. Shade but not directly over the campsite. We were there in Jan so it really didn't matter. This site is not on the water but a perfect water view. Campground is about a 15-20 min drive into DT but definitely a must to go to. Magnolia Market for sure, Union Hall for good food, Spice Village for some shopping at some cute boutiques.
One bit of warning..the campground doesn't list an address. But on the email it gives directions. Follow those and do not put the campground in your GPS because it takes you right past it. The campground is on Skeet Eason Rd.
We will be back.
