Huge area, level, not crowded, fun watching the kite surfers. Amazing sunsets and moon rises. Most of the time we had the beach all to ourselves.

Only negative for me were the frequent flies sneaking in the MH.

Sign says area closes for the season starting Nov. not sure if that is just the toilet facilities, the area closer to the dam, or the whole entire area from this location to the dam.

Ranger comes through once a day. Records the license plates. During my time most everyone was here for several days. Down closer to the dam I would say there are some that live FT there.

Bullpen style location and I would say tons of room for several 40' rigs + toads. a few picnic tables are here. there was 1 person here on day one and then I had the whole space to myself. trails are going off in several directions. the larger gates were closed (perhaps because of the fire restrictions), so no place to ride your toys. even though the site is along the main paved road, the traffic is light. mostly folks pulling horse trailers and only doing the day.

cellular service notes: Verizon voice quality was good 95% of the time. my tmobile had 6 Mbps download rate. my Verizon mifi had no service without a booster. I have the $30 directional one and pointing it east to score 24 Mpbs and I was streaming Hulu and Amazon without any issues.

If I was traveling east or west along i95 and wanted a place to rest and stretch out, then this is a very nice place that is quickly and easily assessable from the interstate.

Walk into the casino and go to security to register (it is free). Their office is immediately to the right when you walk in. The sites are for the most part fairly level and wide. However, I had 2 challenges.

1: they are only about 30' deep and I am a 40' rig
2: the power/water are at the front of the site and my cord is in the last bay

The first night there was only 1 site open, the power pole was on the passenger side and the site was too short, so I ended up parking in the general lot near the field. The next day several folks left, so I moved into a site and for 3 more days. Millie loved running free on all the surrounding grassland.

Nicely spaced sites and wide roads, back-in sites are long enough to keep the rear patio down too, great private beach that dogs can enjoy off leash, very nice park amenities.

Backing in from passenger site is an interesting design choice. Always a bit more challenging. Especially as a newbie and solo traveler; like I am. But took less than 3 tries to park the trailer, since there is so much room between sites and on the road.

I would stay here when in Coos Bay again.

I was coming up from Colorado Springs and I am convinced I took the worst route possible (103 - 105 - 104 - 111 - 110), because it was me vs the frequent and fast moving oil tankers on these washboard dirt roads until I got to 111 and I needed to travel <10 mph to make it a minor earthquake like experience. I should have gone around the area via 390 to 112 (near Grover) to 110.

This is my first boondocking experience, so I am reserving a 5 star just in case there is better. However, the established sites are far spread apart (see photo) and it isn't very busy considering this is 4th of July weekend.

Great Verizon signal with or without the directional mimo attenna. Total crap on my Tmobile.
vender - ping - download - upload - direction
tmobile - 170 - 3.29 - 1.31
verizon w/o mimo - 70 - 29.71 - 8.68
verizon w/ mimo - 60 - 17.90 - 5.80 - west
verizon w/ mimo - 37 - 21.56 - 9.59 - east
verizon w/mimo - 37 - 31.88 - 3.15 - north

I will save time by simply agreeing with the previous reviews about the park quality. My $55 rate is for a weekly rate, pull thru and before taxes an fees. Be prepared for a $10 a week pet fee that is Not disclosed prior to booking online. I also paid about $60 in taxes; which is unusual. The best sites in my opinion are 1-22. If I return, I’ll only stay there. My toy hauler ramp is my outdoor patio and it would face away from the interstate, get all the sun and a great view of mtn range. The dog park/s are the smallest I have seen in 6 years of travel, but the grass is nice. A few blocks away, with a lot more buffer from the interstate is a new rv resort under construction. Might be worth looking into in 2022. Hopefully it helps bring prices down. My new 2021 truck gps took me to the wrong exit, so watch for that.

PROS: signage to where the rv parking is easy to follow and the roads are plenty wide with few turns. The lot is very clean and there is 24/hr security monitoring it. Millie (dog) really enjoyed all the open/undeveloped space to run. They have an unfenced dog area with poop bags and little traffic going to/from the golf clubhouse. They have a few 50 amp outlets and many 30 amp.

CONS: they do charge $20. The RV lot is extremely sloped. I measured a 16" differential between the back and front of my coach.

So, the most level 50 amp spot was already taken by a rig even larger than mine. I opted instead to park next to the RV parking isle and run my generator during the hot part of the day. In exchange I opted not to pay the fee or check in at the desk. Seemed only fair. I was able to level the coach fine in my custom location and have a grand view of the prairie. Slept well considering I kept waiting for the magic knock on the door.

I am glad I drove in with the car first, because by the time I came through with my 40' + tow it was pretty dark out and like another person mentioned it is an "interesting" drive. There are areas you don't want to meet oncoming traffic with a footprint like I have, so if you see someone coming and you have a wider spot to pull and wait... do it and be patient.

So... my advice is mostly for folks with larger RVs like I have. Skip the first few sites you see before you get to the actual campground (as tempting as they are), I struggled to get the rig level and ended up parking at the turn around just prior to the established campground because it was too dark by 6 pm to see the terrain anymore. In the morning I drove past the established campground and 2 miles later you arrive at a large open space with several options. The downside is cellular access drops dramatically and you don't see the sun until 9 am vs 6 am. The upside is finding more space to let the dog run free, more places to simply explore/hike, you are away from the train that does come through and blow its whistle 24 hrs a day, and it is much easier to level a 40' rv.

Cellular analysis (ping, download, upload):
A: at the campground
- tmobile 32 - 25 - 14
- verizon w/o mimo 3 bars and LTE
- verizon w mimo (forgot to test)

B: 2 miles past the campground. I could stream on tmobile but it buffers a bit much. For calls I drove back to the campground to make.
- tmobile (54 - 11 - <1)
- verizon w/o mimo (53 - <1 - <1)
- verizon w mimo (49 - <1 - <1)

Stayed here in a 39 foot-long Class A + a Toad (RV). I would stay here again.

My first HH stay was a good one. Though it became an expensive one thanks to good wine and cheese. In general it was a good base camp and I would return.

I too found the breakfast underwhelming, so skipped it day 2. Pro Tip: The little seafood shack across from the Tillamook Creamery has very good clam chowder.

The location did have ample room, though I wouldn't want to drive in it during a heavy recent rain. I could see getting stuck in what must turn to mud.

I drove the toad to check it out. glad I did. there is a tractor blocking the road. park is closed because of covid. sign says until further notice. looks nice though. If in the area again, I would stay here. maybe 1 - 2 off the main road, so I would imagine it is quiet.
