This is a newer Walmart next door to Cabela's. There is ample level gravel parking next to the Walmart parking lot. The store is very clean, there is lots of open space and very easy access. The Cabella's new store as a $5 dump and fresh water station.

06/06/2020 Update: I have returned to this location every year and things have changed. For a while there were a few locals living next to Walmart in the gravel lot and their trash was everywhere.
-Cabella's closed the dump station
-Walmart parking is limited to 24 hours
-You can't park in the gravel undeveloped lot next to Walmart
-Panda Express now exists
-Maverick now exists. Consistently best fuel price over the nearby Love's and Flying J. Has RV lane (easy in/out)

Good cellular signal, very quiet, nice weather (light wind and full sun) in late December, several parking options for large class A rigs early on and vastly more for for 5th wheel or smaller classes the more you go deeper. An abundant amount of roads/trails for exploring. I mountain biked every afternoon and didn't have to hit the same trail/road twice. There is even one that will take you down to Flagstaff.

verizon w/o mimo (33 Mbps up, 13 Mbps down)
tmobile (34 Mbps up, 8 Mbps down)

I hadn't been here 2 hours before the law enforcement stopped by with a curtesy message that folks like to try to 'live' up here and some are not of sound mind. Case in point, he just arrested one guy for starting a forest fire and he lost track of a guy that even the other locals are freaked out about. The officer gave me a direct line to him should I see this guy, because they consider him a 'ticking time bomb'. Consequently, it took several days of being here without an incident and watching bikers, runners, ATV/dirt bike riders, and photographers coming/going before I truly felt ok leaving the rig unguarded or making sure I always had my knife and gun within reach.

The temps and weather in general this December/January are not typical for Flagstaff and I really don't want to leave here, but time to move closer to Vegas. ;(

The weekly rate is a good value here, because... of the site quality. There is an abundance of space between sites. Tons of open space, nice little pave trail in the park around a small pond with water features. It is also on a huge paved bike trail.

I suspect covid made the check in unique. You call upon arrival and over the phone are escorted to your site. You don’t sign a credit card payment, get a welcome packet, etc. the office is actually at the neighbors feed/horse ranch. My guess is the owners of the RV lot owns both and just consolidated admin operations over there. That is where you go to get your mail too.

Super quiet. Most are long-term folks that leave early for work.

I would stay here again.

I am here in the early season, so the park was empty and quiet.

~appreciate the permission to wash the rv at the site
~the park has wonderful green space.
~access to the river w/ rental equipment.
~a short walk path that meanders through the trees and along the river.
~an off leash area and a dedicated beach for your dog.
~it is across the street from a small trail/park/boat launch that has a nice boardwalk to meander on, but you do have to sprint across a busy road if you opt to walk.
~in the other direction you can walk your dog toward a marina and restaurant. I did it in the morning, so I could let Millie walk off-leash. Employees and the marina were friendly.
~the park staff I met were very personable and friendly. They were new to the park.
~if you are around in June and August you'll be on the Ironman bike course, so be aware of the restrictions and entertainment.

I choose the park because it was listed in the annual Newmar Resort publication. In short it belongs in the publication.

Extremely clean, long concrete pads, super wide roads. I greatly enjoyed the over 21 area (worth the extra money). They are little over the top about dogs off leash. While I was digging in one of the storage bays, my girl snuck out of the rv to pee on the grass. She got caught and my apology was not enough. He had to tell me 3 ways how I was out of compliance and why the rule exists. I just took the dressing down and in return there was no fine.

The free park wifi is fine for general internet and zoom calls, so I was able to keep working. But not for streaming video. You could pay for an enhanced wifi. Not sure the cost. I had a strong Verizon signal, but was throttled so much it was worthless. Tmobile was no better.

I would stay here again.

easy and quick walk to the beach. you can hear the surf at night. compared to other options you get a bit more space. there are a few parks closer to the beach, but the cost is so much more. the store across the street is almost too convenient. the BBQ food truck hangs out in the open field between the store and bar. you'll have a free concert thur - sun. the Burger or Philly Cheesesteak at the Jetty Shack down the road is great. It sucks they allow people to smoke, so I simply order it for pickup. The cell tower is practically next door. shockingly tmobile 5G was better than starlink by a wide margin.

I would certainly stay here the next time I visit Surfside Beach.

PSA - the downside is really about the town itself. (1) the misquotes are plentiful. you look forward to the windy days, because otherwise... you don't want to be outside without a good spray of repellant on. this means I sadly was unable to use my patio deck during my stay. Talking to the locals... this is just a Texas coast normal reality. (2) the other item to be aware of is the water is completely unsafe to even bath in. TSD out of the ground registers 1600+. the level of arsenic and other big scary things is 1000% over the safety limit. You can get the latest water quality report online. Even after running through a 3 stage ClearSource water filter and zero G pitcher, the water will taste rancid and registers over 800. Save your filters and avoid putting the ground water into you RV. It was my dog that made me notice the problem on day 4, when she spent an entire day trying her water but walking away. Then I went to grab my first glass and realized it tasted like a@#. The town has several water station where for $1.50/5 gal you can buy safe water. One is right next door to the rv park. I dry camp frequently, so I have 20 gal that I just kept pumping into my tanks every few days and only used the ground water for the toilet (by refilling a gallon jug).

Love the location. Less than a mile down the road in either direction are some exceptional spots for your dog. One direction is a mammoth off leash unfenced grass set of fields that a few months of the year is reserved for human sports leagues. The rest of the time it is for the dogs. Great paved trails to walk while the kids race around. The other direction is a fenced off leash dog park at the base of the most amazing mtn bike trail system.

You are close to tons of restaurants and shopping.

What wasn’t impressive was the short, narrow and quite sloped parking spot. It is one of those kinda rv parks where most of the park has long-term guests and you are not going to be tossing your awning out far. Kids will run around and through your site while playing. You will hear neighbors inside their rigs. My site was just long enough for the trailer and truck, but not long enough to drop my deck unless I parked the truck up at the office lot. It also means anytime I had company I had to park there to give my guests a place to park.

Have said all of the that, I would stay again. I would just lie next time by adding 8’ to the length of my rig to help me earn a longer site.

The staff are nice (picking up your trash, they recycle cardboard and pickup your empty propane tanks to refill), the place is clean, free popcorn in the lounge daily, big free movie and book library. Small dog park that I never used because of the local city options I mentioned earlier are superior. Good clean showers and inexpensive laundry.

1st: good elbow room and very long parking space.
2nd: asphalt roads, gravel parking, concrete patio and strip of grass.

Very pleasant stay West of Boise. Would stay here again if being outside and West of Boise is ok.

If you have dogs and are staying here... worth the 20 min drive to Nampa Dog Park. I'll post of pictures.

One negative, but I have a my own cellular plans to rely on, is the park wifi will cut you off/throttle you at 60 min. Really was troublesome when on video conference calls. So, I stopped using it.

Verizon was good without my antenna's. tmobile was unusable.

woah... I gotta help balance out the 1 star that I feel is unfair. I stayed at this park for a few months back in 2018 while working in town. I stayed in both the old and new part. They had a plan to keep expanding, so not sure if that has happened or not. I believe the photos on this site do accurately show the unique parking/site design.

Pros: roads are really wide for navigating, you get your own private fenced grass lawn. I tossed up a little gate from Home Depot on each side and my dog could wander in/out of the rv at will and still allow them to mow the lawn. I'll post of picture of her enjoying her private patio/yard. It was a great win win. I found the staff very friendly and accommodating (it is hard to get a long-term spot in this town). I found the monthly rate reasonable. I liked the undeveloped field next-door where Millie could wander off-leash to explore the trails and track rabbits. You are within 5 min of the river and the paved trail that runs along it for many miles. You are 10 min to a great big dog park (I'll post a picture of it)

Cons: I have a class A, so I get a view of the rig in front of me. However, I have a more distance from my neighbors (side-2-side) than any rv park I have seen in 6 years. I find the sites an interesting concept. The 2 biggest issues are the trains (the park is next to the rail line) and the potato processing plant on the other side fo the tracks will daily shoot shotguns to scare off the birds from hangin out to grab the waste they store in big bins.

So, there you have it. The good, bad, ugly. For me the train and gunshots makes it not my first pick, but a decent 2nd choice.

nice level gravel sites and roads with good shade. easy navigating rv through park and into/out of site. very friendly staff. you can tell the park considers a customer's needs and works toward delivery them. location is very quiet all weekend. best power pole I have had in a long time. strong and constant 120v, so no need for my low voltage booster. Great free wifi.

recommend you stop at Safeway (~20 min north of the park) for provisions, because there are no commercial offerings near the RV park. about 15 min south is a do-it-yourself RV wash station and easy access gas station, but a mobile RV will come to your site for $100-120 for a 40' rig. Nice coffee shop 10 min south of the RV park.

I wish it was closer to my worksite, because I certainly want to stay more.
