We were here as part of an Airstream Caravan touring Louisiana’s Cajun Country and this was one of our many stops.

The campground is behind a country fair facility. There were no activities on the fairgrounds while we were here. The fair’s exhibition space is directly adjacent to the campground and if there was a noisy event going on it would be impossible to miss while camping here. But when there is no fair event underway, the campground is very quiet as the lightly travelled road is about 1/4 mile away. There is a general aviation airport (i.e., no scheduled commercial flights) nearby and there were occasional small planes taking off and landing but this was very infrequent (a few times per day on average.). There is a train track about a mile away with a grade crossing and we did hear train horns periodically during the day (but not at night.). The trains were far enough away so as not to be a problem.

The campgrounditself resembles a good quality private RV park. Spacing is good for a private RV park. There are no trees in the camping area and the sites are not separated by any vegetation. However, the orientation of the sites does provide for a decent amount of separation and we didn’t feel like sardines. All sites have a concrete pad for the RV, a picnic table and a grassy area. All sites have three way hook ups. There is a laundry room on site for use by guests. There are showers and toilets although we did not check them out. There is a pool and water park oriented primarily towards young children. I suspect that this place is hopping with families in the summer. We were here in mid-March and all was quiet. Other than the members of our group, there were never more than half a dozen other rigs in the campground (remember, we were here in mid-March.)

Verizon works very well.

THe location is central to many of the areas attractions that are south of I-10 and is reasonably close to the city of Lafayette. A Walmart and most of their shopping is within three or four miles of the campground.

Overall, this is a good place to use as a base for explorthe no the area.

This is a convenient campground when staying in the World’s RV Capital or passing through the area on I-80/90. This is a huge place and wasn’t very busy during our visit so everything was quiet and relaxing. But I can imagine that on the weekends during peak season this place is crazy busy and might be less desirable. There was a small amount of noise from the nearby interstate during the night. We are usually sensitive to this but during our visit this was quite tolerable.

The sites are typical sized for a private campground (narrow.) There is no separation between sites. Our site was level. The facilities appear to be reasonably well cared for.

All utilities worked as expected (could not get campground wifi signal but we never use that anyway.). Verizon Internet was good enough to stream Hd video.

Overall, this place is fine for a quick stopover for a day or two, if we were going to be in the area for a longer stay we would definitely check out a state or municipal park in the vicinity. Overall. We would stay here again.

This is one of our “go to campgrounds” when traveling cross country along I-90. It would also be a good pace for a longer stay if you want to be in the area for more than just an overnight.

The staff is friendly and willing to accommodate your needs. Site sizes vary considerably and they can accommodate big rigs in many of their sites. The utilities all work, they have decent cable TV and Verizon is quite fast. The CG has many trees which provide welcome shade.

The campground is far enough from both the highway and main road through town so that the location is very quiet. The KOA down the street is right on the main drag through town and more exposed so it is a bit noisier.

We would definitely stay here whenever our travels take us in the area.

Everything the other reviewers have said about this place is 100% correct! This is one of the nicest RV parks we've ever stayed in. The facilities are top notch, clean and in excellent working order. The sites are generally screened and large for a private RV park. It's a relatively small park which means that there isn't a constant parade of vehicles entering and leaving which is nice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. You don't reserve a specific site in this campground. Rather, upon your arrival you get loaned a golf cart which you use to drive around and pick your site. This is good because many of the site owners have improved their sites significantly making some site much more desirable than others. Driving around and picking your site gives you the opportunity to make your decision based on what's important to you and what's available.

Our $70/night price was for a waterfront site. Non waterfront are currently $60/night and monthly rates are $50/night (for the entire month.)

Campground wifi was spotty at times of peak usage but blazing fast when not busy. Verizon cell data was pretty good most of the times but does slow down during peak times.

Two things to consider:

1. The RV park is located on Jenkins Road well back from the main ingress/egress road onto the island (Highway 278) so noise from that road is not an issue. However, because Highway 278 is the only way on and off the island it is extremely busy at many times of the day. Getting into the RV park from off the island requires making a left turn across traffic leaving the island. At the worst times the wait to make this turn can be 10 to 15 minutes (yes, it's unbelievable how much traffic there is here.) Leaving the campground to explore the island requires a left turn out of Jenkins Road onto 278 across the traffic leaving the island and merging with the traffic coming on the island. Again, making this turn during on of the many "rush hours" is frustrating and can take 10 to 15 minutes. Having sad this, we've often been able to make the entrance/exit onto/from Jenkins Road is only a few minutes if the traffic on 278 was light.

2. If you are looking for a "beach experience" this may not be the place for you. The RV park is very near the entrance to HHI which means that in addition to the issues of getting out of Jenkins Road onto Hwy 278 you have to travel a long way to get to the public beaches where parking can be an issue. Once onto Highway 278, it's a good 30 minutes to an hour to get to the beaches (longer times being during the summer peak season.) So, if you want a beach experience, there are plenty of other campgrounds along the SC, GA and FL coasts that will be way more convenient.

If you can deal with both of the above "dings" this place is wonderful. :-)

I give this place five stars across the board but one star for location for the reasons previously stated.

We stayed here for an overnight while traveling cross county on I-44. We often seek out quiet campgrounds away from train tracks and interstates as we traverse the country. We really do not like those “easy off/easy on” campgrounds that are assaulted all night long by highway or train noise.

By this criteria, this small campground fit the bill perfectly. There are no amenities except for peace and quiet, shade and an amazingly friendly and helpful owner. It is so quiet as I write this review that the only sound I hear are the crickets and an owl off in the distance.

This would also be an excellent base for a longer stay if one wanted to explore the area in greater depth.

The sites are the standard size for a good commercial campground and offer sufficient space to enjoy sitting outdoors. The utilities all worked properly.

Our 38 foot Motorhome had no problem with our back in site. A larger Motorhome or fifth wheel might have some issues. If you have a larger rig, make sure to discuss this with the owner as you book your site. She is quite familiar with the various sites in her CG and can competently advise you of your prospects.

Both Verizon and T-Mobile were fast enough to stream video.

We will definitely stay here again!

I did like this place. The staff and other campers were extremely nice, the beach access and view are second to none and it’s fairly inexpensive for waterfront. Plus there is a certain pleasant vibe here that is hard to describe. Also, the campground WiFi was actually pretty good and usable! The camp hosts do an excellent job of keeping the place clean and tidy.

It’s just too bad there is so much noise from the adjacent state road. Not too bad at night thankfully, but during the day it was a non-stop parade of motorcycles and trucks.

If you are not a fisher person, there really isn’t much to do around here. There are better places in the Florida panhandle with beach access and a whole lot less road noise.

The staff is friendly and they do work to keep the grounds neat and well kept. But the sites are very tight. I was concerned about being able to pull out of the site. Surprising amount of road noise due to traffic on the main road towards Yellowstone. While this CG is on the way to Yellowstone it’s too far to make it a day trip so this place would only work as a “staging area” to get to a CG closer to the National Park. I suspect the cost reflects access to the adjacent hot springs. If that is important to you then this place might be worth considering. Otherwise, there are plenty of other CGs in the area that cost less and that would do the job.

A convenient overnight stop. Typical near-highway KOA facility. Nothing special. Some highway noise so if you are sensitive to this you might consider someplace else. Verizon and T- Mobile were fast enough to stream HD video. Staff was friendly but this is the first campground we have stayed in over the past year were the staff were not wearing masks.

The sites are small and unattractive. But everything worked and the place feels safe so if you want to be in this part of town this is an acceptable place to stay.

This is a very new RV park and all the facilities are in top notch condition. All pads are concrete. The sites are very large by private RV park standards and each site includes a large well maintained lawn. The condition of the grass is up to golf course standards. There are no trees sheltering the RV pads and no vegetation separating the sites but the way each site is angled you're not staring at your neighbor's rig. There are a lot of concrete surfaces in this park (the owner is a paving contractor) so I imagine this place gets very hot in the summer.

Nearly all of the sites are pull through and can accomodate the longest rigs and two additional vehicles.

The hosts are extremely friendly and will pick up your propane tanks at your site, fill them and return them.

There is a nice pool, swing set and dog run area. The laundry public restrooms and showers were in excellent shape.

The park does offer free "standard wifi" which we did not use. Verizon cell data was good enough to stream HD video.

The park is minutes away from downtown Topeka and I believe is the closest such facility to downtown.

The only ding is the road noise from the adjacent highway (I-70.) If it wasn't for the road noise I'd have given this place five stars. If road noise doesn't bother you too much, then do not hesitate to stop here. If the noise is an issue there are some other less fancy options in the Topeka area.
