“Right on the beach”
Welcome to Ho-Hum RV Park, where we offer a refreshing change from the typical resort experience. We're not about lavish pools or landscaped extravagance. Our charm lies in simplicity. You won't find Jacuzzis here, but you will discover a peaceful haven with gravel pathways that are both practical and welcoming. Our secret? The Gulf of Mexico is practically at your doorstep, inviting you to our 1/2 mile natural walking beach, perfect for leisurely strolls and dog-friendly adventures. Anglers will love our 250 ft. pier, or you can launch your own boat or kayak and fish on the open water. As the sun rises, watch dolphins glide and pelicans soar. Birders, grab your binoculars and kayaks to explore native species. The Lanark Reef, a mile offshore, is a treasure trove for Audubon enthusiasts. At Ho-Hum, relaxation is the goal – read, nap, unwind. For digital connectivity, enjoy free WiFi and cable TV with 70+ channels. Nestled between Highway 98 and the Gulf of Mexico, Ho-Hum is in the heart of the Florida panhandle's forgotten coast. Only four miles east of Carrabelle in Lanark Village, it's a nature lover's paradise, where the Apalachicola National Forest, Tate's Hell State Forest, and the Gulf of Mexico converge. Confirmed by 6 users | Last reported on February 02, 2024This camp is really geared towards adult relaxation. A long pier to fish from with fishing net and chairs provided. Beach front sites with full hook up and sewer and cable along with picnic tables. Dog friendly too! We were gifted treat bags when we arrived. Bathrooms are nice with shower and two stalls. Laundry on site. Beachfront sites are not shaded but others are. The only noise we have are from the seagulls and road traffic. As with many beaches, the biting flies and noseeums are an issue for me. Bring spray!! The beach is not a swimming beach but you can walk along when the tide goes out. Staff and guests were all very friendly. Town is only 4 miles away and can offer grocery, bars, and small shops.
I would not recommend bringing children here but seems they are allowed. Bike riding is also not a good idea as there are no sidewalks along the roadside. Plenty of people brought kayaks and have done some fishing. The site is well lit at night and the views of sunset, moon rise and sunrise are all beautiful. The evenings were cool and there was usually an all day breeze which kept us from using the awning.
Overall I would recommend coming here for a peaceful stay. I hope this review is helpful and thank you to Ho-Hum for providing such a wonderful place and experience for us. ❤️
I checked out Ho-Hum last year when passing through and thought it would be a good place to finish up the winter before heading north. Who could have imagined Ho-Hum becoming a shelter-in-place stop for a good number of families? There were close to a dozen households who had their plans change or their stays extended for the entirety of April and well into May. It became a bit of a community as we got to know each other's names, dogs' names, and kids' names. Even while social distancing there was still a good bit of interaction.
It ended up being a very pleasant extended stay. None of the other guests ever had any complaints about the park or hosts that I heard. Overall, it was a very low key, laid back park. The last 3 weekends were, however, a bit different as lots of weekend campers starting showing up again. It made us appreciate the peace and quiet we had the rest of the time with the park usually less than half full.
Ho-Hum isn't big, and yes it is a gravel lot. BUT they have 3 different grades of gravel (chunky, fine and back-fill/tailings) and take very good care of it. There were several downpours during our stay as might be expected. But other than some minor pooling, the park didn't flood and drained fairly quickly. Utilities were basic but worked fine. Cable was fine and the free WiFi worked OK, but the very affordable premium WiFi was terrific. Electric came in a $0.14/kwh. The washers and dryers have seen better days (2 or 3 of each worked OK) and cost $1.50 each. Great mail/FedEx/UPS service - there was a large table set aside for all the deliveries. T-Mobile and AT&T service was decent though I used my booster most of the time if not connected to park WiFi
Otherwise, it was all about the beach, the water, the tides, and wildlife. Folks spent lots of time fishing from the great pier or from the shore. There is a smaller beach to the east but a much longer one to the west (right) as there were no houses (aside from one) in that direction. Dogs could be off-leash on this beach, and depending on the tide, you would go quite a good ways. Lots of shorebirds, dolphins, probably turtles, occasional shark, stingrays, snails, hermit crabs, crabs, and burrowing things. While the wind did pick up most days, early and late were great times to go out and paddle, some even going across the channel to Bird Island.
Carrabelle has a basic grocery store, gas, a few restaurants, etc. Apalachicola is 30 minutes west, and Tallahassee is over an hour northeast. But there is a huge amount to do all throughout the area. And don't forget the local BBQ and Tupelo honey.

This is a no frills park with a great location. T-mobile data was non-existant, but the premium wifi for $1.50 per day, was blazing fast. I wish this was an option everywhere - I will always pay for good data. To be on the water was nice, but it's not really much of a beach - more of a fishing destination.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The office/store is pretty bare, so come with everything you need. There's a small beer/ice/snack store about 1/4 mile down the road.

Loved being right on the water at this campground! We were able to walk the dog on the beach for about a mile and my fiancé was able to toss in his fishing line right off the private Ho Hum dock! I am not an early riser but it was worth it for the sunrises! Sites are nice and level, rock and sand but hey you are at the beach! Our site was tucked in so no completely direct Gulf view but there were a good amount of sites that had unobstructed beautiful front views. Would stay here again and definitely book in advance for on of those!

The camp itself is a nice, pleasant and quiet place to spend a few days...the staff, not so much. They were "ok", but could be a bit surly and gruff. I actually made a game of it to try and get them to smile whenever I went into the office...I lost the game more than I won. I loved camping right on the water, even though the weather wasn't the greatest while we were there. It would have been nice if there was a bit more beach to walk along... I'd go back if in the area, not sure I'd go out of my way to return though, and probably not stay more than 2 to 3 days in the future.

Nice little park. Pretty much all rock. Some beach and a fishing pier. Easy in and out and not to much road noise. I wanted to stay another night due to storms in the area and they could accommodate me but I had to move spots. Now as I look around the park and see it half empty I see no reason for me to move spots. Dissatisfied with that so we jest stayed the 1 night. I can totally understand if it was busy or going to be busy. But for me to move while there’s plenty of spots doesn’t work for me.

Our nightly rate is based on Tier C monthly rate. The only campground on bay side of Hwy 98 in this section of the Forgotten Coast. Sites are tight but that close to the water we didn't notice, we always had a view. There is highway noise but didn't bother us. This was our second long term stay and we are coming back next year.
As always Pat and the campground hosts were awesome.

We have stayed at this park over the past 3 years while traversing the panhandle headed west for the winter. It is nothing short of a gem! The staff, park cleanliness and overall amenities are great value for a park right on the waterfront. One of our favourite parks in the US.
