The only reason we stayed here was it's proximity to the French Quarter. It's about a $14 ride-share into downtown. There is also a bus stop right across the street, which we didn't try. Other reviewers are right, it's a sketchy neighborhood. But the park is fenced and gated, with a guard dog. It's noisy at night with street traffic and loud industrial sounds at odd hours. It's between several auto repair shops. Owner was very nice. Provided lots of restaurant recommendations. Our $30 a night price was for full-hookups with a Passport America discount.

If you are visiting Nashville and want to be close to downtown. This is as close as you can get. There are 2 other campgrounds right next door. But this seemed like the nicest. It is expensive. But there is a pool, daily garbage pickup and lots of other amenities. Grounds are well kept and clean. Sites are fairly close together, but it is a city campground. Even though it was full it was quiet most of the time, and we were there over a weekend. Check-in was quick. Staff is friendly. We didn't use the bathhouse. The laundry room was clean, even had an iron and ironing board available for use. Small store for basics and souvenirs. Aside from the price this is a nice campground.

This is a nice little campground. It's self check-in so you drive past the first building all the way back to the campground, choose your spot and then self-pay by putting your payment in the dropbox. Stayed here for 5 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. There were only a few other campers here, so it was very quiet. They don't allow alcohol, so I'm sure it is always a peaceful place to be. The campground is on a ranch. There are horses, goats and a pig! There is a little fishing pond. The entire property is quite idyllic. Owners are very friendly. Our site was pretty level with full hookups. Their free wifi was just as fast, if not better than our hotspot. There are restrooms, with showers, but we didn't use them. New Waverly has a few amenities, but we drove 30 minutes to Huntsville to do our grocery shopping at Walmart. Huntsville also has a nice state park with great hiking trails.

Stayed here in early September. Very crowded, lots of people escaping the hurricane. Site was level. They escort you to your site and help you back in. Sites are very close together. Absolutely no privacy. We would rate this campground higher if they didn't pack everyone in so tightly. There is a nice creek running along one side of the campground. I would try to get a water site next time. About a 30 minute drive into Asheville.

We chose this campground because we wanted full hookups for our first outing with our new-to-us Airstream. Owners were very friendly and helpful. They even stopped by our site to make sure we got in ok. It's a big place in the woods. Sites are big. You can see your neighbors, but you aren't on top of each other. We arrived on a Tuesday, left on a Thursday. There are tons of seasonal campers here, but I guess they mostly come on the weekends, so we felt we had the place almost to ourselves. In the height of summer (when school is out) I can imagine this place could feel crowded. Overall, we had a good experience here.

This is a good campground if you want to visit Ocean Springs, Biloxi and Gulf Islands National Seashore, particularly the boat excursion to Ship Island. If you don't do any of those things, then it's just a basic campground. It's fairly small. Some spots are pretty close together. Ours (#23) was almost too short for our 25 foot trailer, but we made it work. We were right by the dump station, and we could smell it occasionally. Internet was slow in the evening, most likely due to overwhelmed cell tower. Showers were good, individual rooms with locking doors, and hooks for your stuff. It's a good value overall, $22 for water and electric.

Check-in was fine. Site was fine. Lake was fine. Just nothing special about this place. It rained every day we were here, so maybe that had something to do with our experience. We stayed in site 85 which was in the upper campground. There we not a lot of other campers in our loop but if it was full there wouldn't have been much privacy. Site was a fairly level asphalt pad. There were site's down by the lake as well. That area seemed pretty full. Laundry room was small, 2 washers and 2 dryers in each bathhouse. We checked one of the other bathhouses and both washers were out of order. If you live in the area, this could be a fun place for a weekend. But that's about it. Price included $8 Reserve America fee.

Our site was plenty big for our 25ft trailer. Pretty level. Campground road is narrow, might be difficult for big rigs, although we did see some Class A's here. The lake is beautiful. Some sites are right on the water. I would get a water site next time. Campground is about a 30 minute drive into Nashville. 3Mbps download speed on Verizon, unboosted. We stayed here mid-September.

We loved it here. Our spot (#35) was right on the lake. Check-in is at the Lodge/Office, not the gatehouse by the entrance. The campground loop was a bit tight with tight turns, but we managed with our 25 foot trailer. Site was level. No vegetation between sites, but they are well spaced and staggered so you aren't on top of your neighbor. Stayed Sunday to Wednesday so it was very quiet. Quitman is a small town with gas, small grocery and liquor store and that's about it. $30 for full-hookups, not bad!

Oak Mountain is a gorgeous State Park. Huge. Lots of hiking trails. 2 lakes. The campground is also huge and was pretty crowded the weekend we were there. Some other time I could see it being very peaceful. We just lucked out being next to several families tent camping together with a ton of kids. This also seems to be a tent campers paradise. Tons of great spots tucked back in the woods. But since we camp in a trailer we had a spot with no privacy. Site was easy back-in and level. Did not use the showers or bathrooms. Hike around the lake out to the dam was spectacular.
