Check-in was fine. Site was fine. Lake was fine. Just nothing special about this place. It rained every day we were here, so maybe that had something to do with our experience. We stayed in site 85 which was in the upper campground. There we not a lot of other campers in our loop but if it was full there wouldn't have been much privacy. Site was a fairly level asphalt pad. There were site's down by the lake as well. That area seemed pretty full. Laundry room was small, 2 washers and 2 dryers in each bathhouse. We checked one of the other bathhouses and both washers were out of order. If you live in the area, this could be a fun place for a weekend. But that's about it. Price included $8 Reserve America fee.

Glimmerglass is a beautiful state park. The campground isn't too big. Sites are nicely spaced, there is some vegetation between sites. Everyone in the office was friendly. We stayed in site 28, it was very unlevel. Most sites looked unlevel. Bathrooms were a bit messy (water all over the floor from shower). Aside from that (and some neighbors playing music all day long) we enjoyed our stay. The actual state park and Ostego Lake are gorgeous. A few nice hiking trails. Close to The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. We stayed mid-September so the beach was deserted. The primitive sites looked like they would be fun places to camp.

The campground is set way back from the road. Long drive to get to the gatehouse. Worker there was very friendly, but neglected to tell us that the park was under a boil water advisory until further notice, due to a water main break in town. We had already filled up our fresh tank by the time we saw a sign on the bathhouse warning of the advisory. Except for this...it's a beautiful state park. Lots of trees and shrubs between sites, so there was a lot of privacy. Hiking trails were fantastic. Rose Island trail was really cool. I wish we had time to hike them all. Full-hookup sites filled up on the weekend. We had electric only. Our area was not full at the end of September. About a 30 minute drive to Louisville.
