Visitors may also enjoy hiking along the Davis Bayou Trail, which takes visitors through a coastal forest and over two local bayous, with an opportunity to see alligators and other reptiles. The campground offers easy access, a 1/2 mile, to the park's boat launch, as well as the scenic Davis Bayou Trail. The fishing pier, located near the Visitor Center, may be used by visitors who possess a Mississippi State Saltwater Fishing License.Facilities This small, yet quaint, campground is open for reservations year-round. It contains 52 sites with electric and water hookups. Sites can accommodate tents and RVs, big or small. The majority of the sites are 40+ feet in length. A group site, with water hookup, is also available to parties with a minimum of 10 individuals and a maximum of 40. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. Natural Features The campground is nestled among live oaks and pine trees and is adjacent to a saltwater marsh. Most campsites offer some shade throughout the day and all offer a tranquil setting for migratory bird watching and picnicking. Nearby Attractions Davis Bayou is home to many of the park's highly visited barrier islands, such as Horn, Petit Bois, East Ship and West Ship islands. Private boaters may enjoy fishing and swimming, as well as beach combing and bird watching. Private boaters may also enjoy island camping on all islands except West Ship Island, which is only open to visitors from sunrise to sunset. The barrier islands are accessible by boat only, therefore you may visit with your own boat or by private charter. We stopped as we were in the area so our girls could get Jr Ranger badges. We were there early on a Tuesday and we only saw 3 other people (not counting the rangers). Visitor's Center was very nice and had a great video about the National Seashore. We went on a short hike along the bayou. Didn't see any gators (it was really hot even by 10 AM) but we did see a snake, some lizards, a BIG bull frog and lots of birds. We spent about 1.5 hours hiking and doing the Jr Ranger books. Plenty of places to hike if you have more time.

So first off this is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. They have a visitor center onsite with ranger programs and some short trails. During the warmer months they told us that they have boats that take people over to the barrier islands that are part of the National Seashore where there would actually be beach.

With all that said let's get to the campground itself. There is not much privacy between sites although they are fairly well spaced apart. Definitely better than a lot of RV parks where they stack people on top of each other. They have 50/30 amp plus water and a dump station available. The bathroom was always clean. Friendly hosts and rangers that we met too.

All in all a quality place to stay the night.

We stayed here while visiting friends in the area. Nice campground on the National Seashore, with a few trails.

Our site was long enough, but a very large tree right on the edge of the pad made backing in, and lining up our slide a real challenge. While we would stay here again, I wouldn't put a large RV in site 4 again.

Staff and volunteers at the CG were nice and helpful.

Davis Bayou is a great campground in a park that provides access to some really cool Mississippi towns. The campground was easy go get through in our 40ft Class A and the sites were quite spacious. We were in site 52 which was a great site as there were trees that provided almost 100% shade from the sun. Some of the other sites are out in the open. It is a park/campground so there aren't amenities like a pool or gameroom but we weren't looking for those things.

The bathrooms and facilities were extremely clean and everyone that we encountered from the host to the park rangers were extremely nice.

The park was small but clean and we did find several shorter trails to hike on. As others mentioned we did not find direct access to the beach.

If you have free time the town of Ocean Springs is a fantastic little town with tons of live music, restaurants, and bars. They have a place to rent kayaks and paddleboards too. There are several places to eat in the area as well.

Also - Biloxi is only a short drive over the bridge for casinos and other activities. They have everything from the high end casinos like the Beau Rivage owned by MGM to the local spots with better prices like Boomtown ($5 craps and blackjack)

We got the brunch buffet at the Palace and it was absolutely spectacular.

Biloxi also has the Shuckers - a minor league baseball team - right on the main strip.

Also if you are there and love great BBQ definitely hit The Shed. They have fantastic food in a quirky atmosphere that TOTLLY worth the visit.

The Mississippi coast has been a really pleasant surprise. The Davis Bayou campground and the entire Mississippi section of the Gulf Islands National Seashore is nestled among beautiful bayous and marsh lands. The campground is clean and well maintained. We arrived the day the CG reopened after Hurricane Nate blew through and the camp hosts told us they lost several large trees and were still cleaning up. The fishing pier and basically all the boardwalks are destroyed but don't let that stop you from visiting. When we checked in, the park ranger told us we had the best site in the CG, #12. After being here one week, we agree. If we are ever back this way, we'll try to get this exact spot. It's big rig friendly (we are 40' long), has a great satellite, full shade, and more privacy than any other site with constant bird song. If you enjoy walking and riding bicycles, this place has it all. We have ridden bicycles all through GINS and along Biloxi Bay in Ocean Springs; the Live Oak Bicycle Trail is immediately next door. All sites have E/W and are 50 amps. Dump station on site. For a town this size, Ocean Springs has a surprising number of really excellent restaurants. Don't miss BBs Po Boys, open for lunch, for the BEST shrimp Po Boy you will ever have!

This is a very pleasent little campground with easy access to the Ocean Springs/Biloxi, Mississippi area. There is plenty of shopping nearby. The little town of Ocean Springs surprised us with a cute little downtown district that is worth a stroll. Biloxi is a "gamblers heaven" so if you are in to that you've come to the right place.

There is not a lot of vegetation between the sites for screening, but the sites are generally spaced sufficiently far apart that this is not an issue. Many of the sites are not level front to back and this could be a problem if you are in a motorhome without levelers. If you are in a travel trailer or motorhome with levelers you will be fine. A lot of he sites have tree cover which would be nice in he summer. Unfortunately, the tree civer can interfere with your satellite dish.

Most of the sites appear easy to get in and out of. Many will accomodate the largest rigs. These are water electric only sites. The utilities worked well. The onsite dump station offers good access.

The campground is generally very quiet and far from any major roads so that you don't hear any road noise. However, there is a major rail line about 1/2 mile away and for some reason when trains pass they blare their horns constantly. This is fine during the day, but there seems to be a 5 AM train every day. Most people would probably sleep right through this and I mention it only in case you are a very light sleeper.

Verizon cell service was very good and fast enough tomstream HD video. OTA television channels were plenty.

There is not a lot to do here in terms of hiking or cycling. You either come here to relax away from it all or you have a specific thing to do in the area.

Will never camp there again left after first night. Nothing in the rules about golf carts they watch everything you do my trailer tire was about 6 inches off the pavement they made me unhook and move it over. You can ride golf carts down town so tried to get their on mine and was stopped by the ranger police and told pick it up or get a ticket. Ruined the hole weekend because that was my only way of transportation. Way to many rules only camp there if you like being able n prison and treated like a child. Never will go back

Small, but clean campground with restrooms/showers. Recently repaved with level pads, fire ring, picnic table, shore water and electricity hookups at each site, and dump and fresh water stations. Only one short 3.5 hike avail from camp to visitors center (with short .5 mile trail loop). Bike path for 15-20 minute ride into Ocean Springs for restaurants/entertainment.

Many hiking trails going through the bayou. There is also a gate that never closes that you can bike through to get down to the beach. I was there for a week working during the day and exploring at night. Had good Verizon
coverage.

There is a museum but it was closed when I was there for covid and hurricane damage. Some of the paths were also inaccessible due to hurricane damage.

The showers were good, you close off in a single room so the entire floor gets wet. There are hooks but no place to put your soap.

A little buggy, you are in a bayou, quiet at night.
