This park is 10 min from Galveston, which we considered a positive to be just outside of the hustle and bustle. We had a great pull through site (because every site is a pull through site). In addition to the standard amenities, JBRV had a mini-golf course in the RV park that we played and thoroughly enjoyed. There was an indoor infinity hot tub the size of a small pool, which I enjoyed on several occasions. We did not use the pools or lazy river as it was too cool to pool during our visit, but the place was loaded with fun spots for all ages. Additionally, the beach was just a walk across the street. We did take a walk over and walk the beach one day. We had some unseasonably cold weather during this visit, including freeze warnings, so we didn't get the full benefit of many aspects of the great RV park and location.

The only reason to stay here is the proximity to Charleston. The campground is right off 17, which goes right into Charleston. It was cheaper than other options in the area, and we were able to get 2 nights at half-price with our Passport America membership. However, it was pretty run down. The majority of the campers are long-timers and maybe all-timers. Many rigs looked run down and it added to the appearance of a place that had seen better days. The bathhouse was also older and rough around the edges. The shower space was too small and almost impossible to turn around to get dressed. The train noise was ever present, day and night. I just didn't feel comfortable. Also there was a used diaper in our fire ring upon arrival and when we went to use the dump station, there was raw feces on the ground which I discovered when I stepped in it.

We were very happy with our month at Tamiami Village. We visited the pool regularly, walked and rode our bikes around the park and immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. There is an extensive activities schedule, but we didn't participate in any of these. We did volunteer for the Trash and Treasure Sale and did enjoy the camaraderie of the other guests. We had a full hook-up site. The site only had 50 amp, but we were able to borrow a 50-30 amp pigtail from the office. We did use our Good Sam discount for 10% off the $31.50/nt. We found the other guests to be very friendly. We used the showers daily and the laundry regularly and the facilities are immaculate and well maintained. The RV park area is grass sites, with concrete slab patio. The staff were so helpful in directing us in backing into the site. We had a wonderful experience and look forward to returning.

I was generally unimpressed with this campground. On the plus side there is a very well equipped campground store with basic food items, camping supplies and souvenir items. The staff were very helpful with recommendations of how to get into New Orleans, cheap parking, what to see, etc. Another plus was the laundry building was new, clean and comfortable.

The location is not the greatest neighborhood, but ok. It was 20 min. to the French Quarter, but the campground offers a free shuttle, which was one of the main reasons I booked here. It turns out the shuttle only leaves at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm from the campground with one pickup leaving NOLA at 5:45 pm. 9am is much earlier and 5pm is much later than I'd want to get into NOLA, so we never used the shuttle. That was a bummer.

There were sites in the center of the campground that had concrete slabs. We were on a smaller side site that was gravel, with a small mound of grass between the next site. It was muddy and unappealing. However, the site did have full-hook up and plenty of room to back-in to the site. The bathrooms and showers were on the back side of the office building. Each shower had it's own locking door, but these showers have seen better days. There was a smell in the shower area I couldn't quite identify, but it was a huge turn off.

And last but not least, there was train noise day and night.

This is pretty much what I look for in an RV park. The park was spread out with plenty of space between sites. There was grass between sites, picnic tables, fire rings and a level concrete pad. The site was full hook up and most of the sites including ours, were on the edge of a pond. We were close to the pool (too cool to pool during our stay) and bathroom/showers. There was free wifi, a small camp store, ice for sale and a nice laundry room. This was a peaceful, remote spot near the town of Breaux Bridge, LA. We were going to stay 4 days, but decided to make it 5.

We were so happy when we discovered this park had 2 weeks availability on short notice. This is a beautiful park, with a great pool, nice bath and shower facilities and very friendly staff and campers. We had a full hook-up site and used the pool and showers regularly. There was an extensive activities schedule, but we didn't partake in them. We did walk and ride our bikes around the park frequently, even at night and always felt safe and comfortable. The park is grass sites, with concrete patio slabs and a variety of trees and vegetation between some sites.

I can't add much to what's already been said. We were at the park on the weekend and it was very social. Our neighbors were driving around with an amplifier on the back of their golf cart playing zydeco music. We didn't mind it as it was only during the day. The park is way out of the way, and the LA roads are not trailer friendly in many places. We happened to be camping during the monthly Dutch Oven Gathering which happens the 2nd Saturday each month. The Latanier Cookers host a meeting, greeting, cooking and eating event, and campers are invited to come and try the dutch oven cooked food. Much of the food offered was cajun and was an amazing treat to get to try. I would go back for the Dutch Oven Gathering alone.

We only planned to stay 3 days, but ended up staying 6. In order to accommodate our additional dates we moved to another site. We have a small 20 ft trailer and were able to negotiate the "hill" easily. I've uploaded my blog post about it, which will help with pictures to get a sense of how the campground it cut into the side of a mountain. We stayed at the lower level. While the sites are essentially terraced into the mountain, each space was very level. I appreciated the coded gate security. The showers were amazing! So clean, private and plenty of hot water. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were also spotless! There is a small camp store at the office and we were able to purchase a few dump hose accessories we needed. The location is perfect for accessing I40 to get to Ashevillle or Black Mountain. We would absolutely return!

Other people have captured the essence of the park. It's well laid out, cement slabs in nicely manicured lots separated by privacy hedges. The lots are a bit narrow. All lots are pull through and full hook up. There is also a spigot exclusively for washing your truck or camper. Since many places prohibit this, it was nice to be encouraged to wash your vehicles. There is a laundry room in the shower building off the pool. The pool was immaculate. It was easily the cleanest pool I've ever swam in. We got the stay 6 days, get the 7th free discount, so we couldn't use our Good Sam discount. The one downside of the park is it's proximity to I95 because you could hear traffic day and night. But on the other hand the location was ideal for day trips to Cumberland Island (by ferry to see wild horses), St. Simon Island, Jekyll Island and the Historic Old Town Brunswick. There is a Dollar General, a Winn Dixie and a liquor store within a mile from the campground, so it's very convenient.

This is the ideal campground. We had a spacious site, with plenty of room between other sites and campers. We are able to walk across the road and over a board walk to the ocean and the most amazing beach. There are two other beach access points at the campground as well. The sand was so well packed that it was very easy to walk the beach, which we thoroughly enjoyed! The water in the showers is so hot you actually have to use cold water also and there is free wireless. We were on site 12, which is an outstanding location. The bathhouse was "in our backyard" and the ocean was in our front yard. The wireless router is housed in the bathhouse so the signal at our site was excellent. There is also a nice campground gift store with basics and lots of cute touristy stuff. There is a paved bike path which runs north and south from the campground. We rode it for a bit, but it runs so close to the highway that all you could hear was traffic noise. Walking the beach was a better option.
