We took both options to drive in and use the shuttle. I would advise to use the shuttle if you just want to have a day out as parking is expensive in the city. We really enjoyed our stay at this koa and would defiantly advise people to do the same.
Family of 5 stayed in shady spot 54 across from pool and showers. Very nice staff and looked out for you 24/7. The front desk lady will walk your dog for you. The overnight man in the golf cart keeps an eye on everything. Bathrooms are accessible with a code. Very clean. Very inexpensive laundromat that work well- dryer works very well. Took Shuttle into New Orleans. The driver was funny- great historian with satirical humor. The Hop On Hop Off bus in NO was the best way to see the city. Stayed 3 nights- and paid $5 per hour after checkout until 5pm so we didn't have to pay another full night but got to enjoy another half day in NO. Used Uber several times back to KoA. Great place!!
The site is around 14 miles away from the city, which took about 45 minutes to drive. The team will navigate you on the best route. There is a free shuttle at 9am ( pickup 5.45pm) and also at 5.00pm( no pick up).
Great campground, awesome tenting sites -all under a shady tree, elevated from the parking space in front of it and flat sand plots which made them perfect for camping. The store was well-stocked, staff was very friendly, offered a shuttle to the French Quarter for free and the showers and bathrooms were very nice. Felt safe and comfortable staying there. Would stay again.
Only a few minutes off the interstate. Fantastic staff, they are extremely friendly. Well stocked shop with free coffee :)
We were booked for two mights but only stayed one. We heard 7 gunshots about a mile away which it turned out to be a gang shooting.
Gun crime, muggings and attacks on tourists in the tourist areas have increased and an attack on Bourbon Street within 50 yards of a group of police men put us off visiting the area on our second day/evening :(
The koa team was extremely helpful and went out there way to meet your needs.
Although the area around this park is kind of run down, we were happy staying here. The rates are reasonable, the staff is very helpful, they take good care of the grounds, it's well lit, and they have good security. The laundry room is really nice. You will find some older and unsightly rigs here; the roads are torn up in places and get huge puddles when it rains. However, they got the pumps right out and drained most of the water quickly. Some of the pads have shade trees and are well paved. Some (like ours) do not have shade, and the pad is cracked an uneven. The Mississippi River is right across the street although you have to drive a bit to find a place where you can climb the levee. There are no sidewalks - and I don't recommend walking outside the park. However, most of New Orleans area attractions are a 20-30 minute drive away. That's worth the price!

This has been the smallest KOA I’ve been to. Very tight. Not in a super great area. I don’t know what else would be better for visiting New Orleans but I would’ve looked around more. This was okay for just staying a couple nights

A small campground carved out of a neighborhood, it’s been here a while. All back in sites, a fair number of permanent residents. Good wi-fi, the staff are great; friendly checkin, always available, and there’s usually someone patrolling at night. If you’re worried about backing in, don’t worry, they are experts at coaching you through it if needed. We were here over New Years, if you have a dog and/or don’t want to be kept up all night with fireworks, don’t come to New Orleans/Louisiana over the holiday. They shoot off really big fireworks, for hours.

Second time staying in this KOA for experiencing New Orleans.
This time there is plenty more green grass and the location seems even better maintained. The showers were some of the nicest i’ve seen for a KOA. Though can’t recall if they upgraded?
Yes the park is small and they pack a lot of RV’s, but this is meant as a place for visiting New Orleans itself.
My kids jumped right into pool and my dog finally enjoyed a grass filled K9.
Oh, did i say the staff here is outstanding? Well yes they are.
