I read the reviews here and on Google maps, thought meh it’s fine for an overnight. I wish I hadn’t.

It’s $77. I expected a lot for $77. Resort experience. This was an average KOA where the price should have been $40 at best.

I’m not sensitive to loud road noise and I expect it right off the highway. But this- was obnoxious. Also trains.

They recently oiled the sites and road ways with tar of some sort that has a horrific smell. So I guess that will solve for the dust issue mentioned in reviews. But omg I feel like I’m getting high off the fumes and I’m terrified to have my dog walk on it.

Between the smell and sound I couldn’t sit outside - it was just too much. The place is beautiful but all of that was soiled by the site and smell. $77 and couldn’t even sit outside.

Speaking of dog. Great dog off leash areas. BUT they have cottonwood trees that release buds that are covered in sap. Paw full of sap. It’s painful to pick off the buds and then have to use peanut butter and wash the paws to get the sap off. They should remove those trees!

They are making improvements to the park. So I think the concerns on reviews are being addressed. Super friendly people.

Beware the river front sites. They alternate back-in and nose-in. Your neighbor will be all but touching you back to back. You have nice space on your coach door side but the other side is awful. As such picnic tables for the most part are either in front of or behind your rig. They also would not let you reserve a patio site if your rig is under 30’. Even though at the time of this review (April) the park was 95% empty including 100% of the patio sites. Not sure why that rule exists.

All sites are gravel (mind you with oil).
They have activities and community meals. A nice community patio area by the office. Lovely playground areas. River is off limits to any fun- very clear you are not allowed in it. Didn’t use facilities. They offer propane for sale.

Verizon 2 bars. 3.96 down 0.48 up
ATT 5.25 down 1.36 up
WiFi- 13.1 down 10.5 up (I was in a site very close to the office, site 3, nose in by the river)

Right on a busy road that feels like listening to nascar all day. Even in the RV with fans on.

Notice if you have Asthma- office building/laundry will about kill you. Air spray so bad. Strong leftover scents from other peoples laundry. Can’t describe this- it’s just too much.

WiFi was not even strong enough to pull up a test
ATT 37.6 down 5.57 up
Verizon 0.64 down 1.39 up
T Mobile 6.08 down 1.13 up
Unless you have ATT, you will be stuck in 1980 dial up mode

Laundry 1.50 ea. they have 3 washers but only 2 dryers. Signs warn that washers only fill up half way so you have to cut your loads in half. Dryer on the left barely works- takes 2 cycles to dry. Overall spent $12 for what should have been 2 loads. And now have to rewash the clothes at a laundromat because the leftover scent was making me cough so bad. Also the laundry room smelled like poop/ not sure if a bathroom is vented in here but omg. Just wouldn’t recommend the laundry here.

Nice area to walk dogs by the lake.
RV park next door sells propane, has a parts store (they don’t carry much but can order it if you have a couple days wait), and others here mentioned if anything needs fixing they will come over to the park to help.

All but 4 sites are full time residents here and it’s a nice community of people who look out for each other. Level concrete pads, nice table and grass area, very clean.

Overall it’s fine for an overnight, but I wouldn’t stay again.

Oh forgot to mention - there is a military base near here that tests cannons. Loud booms that shook everything in the RV- even my dishes fell. If you have a dog that doesn’t like fireworks - this…. Is level 11.

Check in is at a new visitor center located BEHIND where your gps will lead you to. Awesome interpretive center inside, snacks, gift shop stuff, friendly staff.

Cell service
ATT- 30.4 down, 2.07 up
Verizon - 23.9 down, 7.75 up
T Mobile- no service

Weird thing is you book by site number but signage at park is all by letter.
Area A is 1-31
Area B is 36-60
Area C is 61-92
Area D is 93-127

Area A is FHU
Area B isn’t built yet- under construction
C and D are W/E- and note water is on opposite side of electric and where it should be- also it’s at the front of your rig instead of the back. So bring a LONG hose or fill up before you park.

None of the sites are level. But level-ish

I’d stay a million times but only if I could get in area A (or B looks like it would be nice when they get done). I absolutely wouldn’t stay in C or D ever. The sites there look more suited for tents not RVs especially not with slides- I had to park one side off the pad to get my slide open and not hit a tree. Very compact spaces. Not enjoyable. But A is awesome with lots of space.

Tons of amazing trails- paved and not. Lots of grass areas. Good for walking around. Get a trail map at the visitor center so you don’t miss anything.

It’s about 30 min to anything- so plan ahead. Cute coffee shop 1/2mi from campground- go there! Awesome people.

Loved this park!!

!!! Directions !!!
Google maps will take you THROUGH the campground to get to the office. It’s a 9% grade with speed bumps (who does that?!) for about a mile. Not fun. In Google maps type in “FDR Park Office”- then your choice to go around and through the back gate (better route) or go down that hill to camp.

Cell:
Verizon 6.77 down 0.16 up
ATT 61.0 down 4.78 up
Didn’t record tmobile but was similar to Verizon
No WiFi at camp

Camp: all gravel
Area 1 has FHU, no shade, sites close together like at an RV park, nearest the lake. Recommend site 101- more private with a great view.
Area 2 w/e, shade or partial shade. Private, more spread out. Recommend 206 and 208- door faces a beautiful bubbling creek.
Area 3 w/e- has a gravel road getting to it (unlike 1&2 which is paved). A bit pitted and some are not as level. Looks more undone. However site 301 is fantastic. Private pull thru facing the creek.
There is no area 4 - why?? Where is area 4? By Area 51?
Area 5- w/e entirely shaded, note this is 1/2 mile away from all the trails, lake, activities. It’s very densely wooded. Felt isolated in there. But that may be your thing.
Area 6- intended to be tent sites but there is water and electric including 30amp. The tent pad and picnic pad are perfectly level. But the driveway where the car (or camper) would be parked are bumpy and super not level. Face the woods and lovely though.

Facilities
A camp store at the office and a smaller version at camp has some fun things- ice cream, trinkets, candy.
Not on the map but exists- laundry. In each bathroom building.
Bathrooms are clean.
Trails!! Lots of well marked trails and open areas to walk around in. Boating. Really nice playgrounds- modern, music, it’s awesome.

Great stay- adding to my favorites.

FHU, electric only, and no utility sites available. All gravel. Some pull thru some back in. B1-B4 are angled the opposite direction of the one way so it’s a little awkward. And water/electric posts are at the front of the rig on all sites, except the back in sites. Just odd. Electric only is just an open parking lot with a post, undefined spots so again, awkward.

Shower/laundry building has codes. Listed on self registration envelope or provided on receipt of pay at store. Laundry - clean, $1.50 wash $1.50 dry. Showers (didn’t look at these). Dump station. Potable water at dump station is on during off season. Kinda weirded me out though being it was right at the dump station. It’s used for both purposes. Kinda gross. Dumpsters are conveniently located.

Surrounding area- a lot of the stores/restaurants are out of business. But still some open within walking distance. Nice walking area/park across the store parking lot.

Self service pay or go into the store. If you go in the store be prepared for a hard sales pitch for their credit card- as you walk in the door and at the register. A bit expensive for what you get $36 in off season where the only utility available is electric. 10% off for good Sam, AARP, AAA. 20% off for Cabelas club members

They also have a free area for semis/RVs that has traffic all day. Noisy road. Heavy poop smell all the time. The train others mentioned was barely noticeable for me.

nice for an overnight stop comparative to other campgrounds in the area. Not somewhere I’d stay longer than that.

They did have WiFi (no password) but it wouldn’t connect for me.

Site 98 is great/ spacious, door opens to an open area and on the lake.

Would recommend sites on the lake (more spacious and scenic). All other sites were tight, gravel parking lot. Lots of monthly stays. I absolutely would not stay here if not for a spot on the lake.

Awesome dog parks (large), and playground. Didn’t check restrooms. Laundry room is also huge with coin (has a change machine) or card operated, clean. Propane (only during certain hours). Dump station. Goats! Lots of friendly goats. Room to walk around. Can fish the lake. Lovely fountain on the lake.

ATT and Verizon struggled - even to browse on phone. Not enough to work. T-Mobile was strong and was able to do zoom meetings without issue. Wifi worked but was on and off, not reliable so used the hotspot.

Disclaimer- Everyone here smokes cigarettes. It was on all sides and really notable- so I felt like I couldn’t sit outside or have my windows open. Though it’s a nice park, parts felt sketchy/run down, and because of the smoke, I wouldn’t stay for longer than an overnight.

Easy to book online.
Gate is not regularly manned. Has a code, not often closed.
Tons of areas to walk around and explore.
Weird trash can set up- some in the day use area none in the campground. Day use area is 0.1 mi from camp and dumpsters at dump station are 0.6mi from camp.
Didn’t use facilities so can’t comment
Verizon - 30.0 down, 2.64 up but sketched out a lot
ATT- 12.1 down, 7.16 up - reliable
Friendly host.
Super quiet. Beautiful skies at night. Sunrises and sunsets across the water.

Sites- camp area has a weird unspoken dividing line at the parking lot half way through camp. Like east side west side story. Sites 10-21 closest to bathhouse are nearly full, lots of long term stays with run down rigs, stuff all over the site, sewer hose connected to run into the trees and water and by the smell of it gate valve open (gross), and people sleeping in vehicles. Sites 1-9 are where the people staying a night or two go. And both sides keep to themselves. It’s so odd. Some sites have concrete pads that have a bit of a ramp leading up. The pads have a sharp drop on each side, and are narrow. The steps then open up to leave you with an awkward step down. I wouldn’t stay in those- sites 1, 3, 8, 9- those are no. Most the sites look level and flat except 5 has a slight incline. Sites 10-21 are closer to the water, level with the ground, beautiful area. Site 10 doesn’t have a water view- website says it does but it’s blocked entirely by trees. 20 and 21 have huge amounts of space.

Instacart delivers to the campground.

Hard to review this one- I think my experience was time of year (mid March)- trying to be objective. I’d stay here again, but in campground 1.

Cell service:
Verizon 1 bar, 11.7 down, 0.03 up. Sketched out.
ATT 71.0 down 5.5 up, reliable

Has 2 campgrounds.
#1 is more wooded (shade) more what you’d expect for a state park. Located near a lot of trails. More open space to walk around.
#2 is almost entirely full sun, feels more like an RV park. Only trail is the one between the two campsites (and was closed due to repairs during my stay). It’s close to the Marina which looks like it has a nice cafe (also closed during my stay). So if you’re in campground 2, the only place to walk around is road walking the campground and marina parking lot.

Basic (B)= no hookups (dry camping)
Electric (E)= electric only (no water)
FHU (S) = 50/30/20, water, sewer
They do not have water and electric sites. The water is mostly not reachable from the road with a hose- you must fill up from the dump station.

The water was on when I arrived but they shut it off during my stay in a FHU spot due to weather. They were so good about communication- came by and knocked, left a note for those they couldn’t reach, and signs up everywhere. Camp hosts are really friendly.

I don’t normally comment on the people side as that will vary by stay. But this does seem to be more of a party park. Many campers with loud music- bumping out of speakers in their trunks, or their outdoor speakers in campers. Loose dogs that attacked my dog. And camp hosts wandering about and didn’t seem to care. Cool if that’s your thing- It’s not my vibe. I was hoping for quiet and peaceful which is why I didn’t stay in town.

Didn’t use facilities so can’t comment but they do have laundry. And many comfort stations.

Note on check in- put “table rock state park office” in your gps. Not the state park or you’ll have a hard time finding it.

I’d stay again but in campground #1.

DIRECTIONS
1- road coming in is about 20 minutes of winding, tilting, roads. GPS will tell you that you have say 4 miles left to go but you’ll start to see road closed signs in 1 mile. For example. Ignore the signs. The road ends at the entrance to the state park. So stay on it.
2- campsites are numbered on your reservation. But at the campground they have letters- camp area A, B, C - A is for sites 1-13, B is for 14-39, C is for 40-70. Match your numbers to these letters to make it easier to find where to turn.

SITES-
Area A (1-13), FHU, wooded, huge hill up and down to/from the sites. Beautiful and quiet. Level.
Area B (14-39), W/E only, rough road through it, sites have roots bubbling up through the pavement, water post is on wrong side and at the top of the site - recommend at least a 50’ hose.
Area C (40-70) FHU, on the water or water view. Level, flat sites, hookups in the right spot. The only site I would avoid is 54- has a steep ramp to the level site where it’s clear people bottom out their trailer on it as the pavement is all gouged out.

Very quiet campground. Hum from utility plant across the water, not bad. End of C loop (sites 60-70) does have a machine of some sort at the end that hums loudly. Boats sometimes speed by and play loud music. But very quiet at night all around.

Tons of critters out at night- don’t leave anything out and hang on to dog leashes tight.

Cell on ATT and Verizon were strong- forgot to note the speeds but I could do zoom all day with no issues.

Roads in camp are twisty, tilted, up and down steep. Note for those who may struggle walking. Lots of fun well marked trails. Great staff always doing maintenance and about.

Definitely would stay here again

Friendly staff- camp host is active around camp.
Very quiet camp.
Two loops at camp- 1-16 (first loop) has a bath house and dumpster, 17-36 (second loop) has bathhouse with laundry and no dumpster - does have some small trash bins.
Site 34- Wifi 11.5 down, 8.84 up
Verizon 96.6 down 6.27
ATT 17.4 down 5.17 up

Everything here is super outdated. Playground equipment is falling apart and looks unsafe. Facilities are very old- has a washer dryer but are so old the dryer had to be run twice on high heat (but only a dollar each time). Buildings all around the park are falling apart and just creepy. But all the trails are amazing and well kept- clearly that’s where all the money goes. They have an awesome trail map- weirdly they don’t list any distances on them though. Lots of areas to wander in.
