I read about the ticks - we did not have a dog or get any on us. This is a horse camp and the flies have heard about it. I have an instant pop up bug shelter that paid for itself in minutes. We were able to enjoy the story book views as the sun went down. Coyotes and I am pretty sure a bull elk joined in to serenade us. This is like a mile off of 20 on 16 so perfect for either road - we were taking 20 over the lake to the 5. This place is huge (we didn't bother unhooking the toad) and the other campers were all spread out. There is a stream you can camp near, we just stuck to the middle because I am slightly paranoid in these BLM places. Saw a "blm resident" but no one approached and we really enjoyed out overnight. Plan for the bugs (which disappear at dusk) and I can highly recommend this free spot. Zero coverage with Tmobile, everyone needs to unplug right ? Camp closes 3rd week of November.

Once again, I find myself reluctant to write a review. The North campground - no hookups. The South campground has no sewer in any site, but a dump site obviously. Water and 50 amp power are in the outer circle of the the two loops, and typically the outers are pull throughs. Excellent design with the non utility sites and bathrooms in the center. A word on the showers, excellent. I used them every day to avoid filling the gray tanks and they are clean, the water is hot and 75 cents buys you a Hollywood shower. The team taking care of this place is simply outstanding. They are not intrusive, the sites are raked and spotless and as mentioned the bathrooms are clean. I will mention the pull through sites require a little maneuvering for the bigger rigs. I watched a 5th wheel parking for about 45 minutes until "just right". There is more than adequate separation, we backed up to nothing and while you can see the other campers, you still have a nice feeling of privacy. The quality of campers is also nice. All smiles and waves, little ones having funs on the scooters and such but not noisy at all. At night dead quiet, but we camped during the work week. Amazing cell reception, I had crystal clear Teams calls and all computer bits worked perfectly on Verizon hotspot. Then of course there is the lake, simply stunning with wood chip covered paths from the camp sites. Our fat tire bikes loved them. There are some funky stores close by, we avoided due to Covid. Towards the North Camp guess what a riding stable that rents horse rides at a reasonable rate. Sad note, one of the owners of the Horse business passed from Covid. Then, there is of course - Leavenworth. The streets are all closed down for seating outside and parking is tough now. We took a quick look and bailed due to Covid again. Most folks wore masks but some...well anyway. Iceclimber will be back to this diamond of a campsite.

Only a few spots can accommodate the bigger rigs so recommend you scout first if you are in the Class A or longer travel travel class. I nearly pinned myself in the C loop thanks to thoughtless folks and their parking style. Got out of that pinch and had to help a nice lady get her horse trailer out...so what am I really saying? This place is tight. Also, I don't recall seeing less level or more difficult back in spots in a DNR campground, ever. Furthermore, not used to seeing so darn many rules posted literally everywhere. I got into one of the few spots I could fit my rig on B Loop and there are rules on the table saying I could get booted tomorrow, because dang it, I forgot my horse :)

Anyway, for the horse campers this may be your place. Also saw some tweakers and homeless campers. They didn't have horses either.

Steep/long climb in and out, so have your equipment in order. Total rework of this free camping spot near a boat launch. The facility is beautiful with a gorgeous view behind the dam. Asphalt trailer sites, a couple pull through. I saw water in a couple spots, unsure if you can fill up from it. This is a compact campground where basically every trailer can see each other. Not our style especially considering the tough climb in, but if you don't mind this kind of layout, then....well it's free ! Very close to the Canadian border, the tiny town of Metaline that has a grocery and a couple restaurants.

Noted Cougar and Bear warning signs.

Tried it in late March and nearly made the "always scout first" blunder by not scouting first. Had to turn around in a nail biting situation and nearly made a bad situation a disaster. I did call the DFW prior and asked how the access was and was told "ok fine", Ah-hem

Saw some nice looking campsites and also some sketchy junker vehicles. Might give this place a try another day, but don't be a dummy like me and try too early in the season.

Steep hill up, watch the speed bumps they are wicked. Walk in to the Casino, go join the club. Find Security, fill out a simple form, boom 3 days of free camping in a nearly empty lot with a pretty cool view into the valley if you pick the right section. I was passing through so only stayed a night, but I am pretty sure if you asked you could stay longer, assuming you like dry camping in a parking lot. The casino is your standard tribe place, very friendly staff and typical locals. There is a gas station right there but it's very busy, assuming there is a discount for the club members, but I did not risk it with a Class A and went downtown to find fuel. Redwoods right down the road, and an easy commute back to your free parking lot, again if that is your thing.

As the previous reviewer stated, this DNR campground caters to the ORV crowd. Yes, dirt bikes and ORV transit the campground, and the off roaders are supposed to leave and enter the RV park directly and stay under the speed limit. Of course, there was a couple punks on the loudest possible dirt bikes that simply could not follow the rules and raced around the camp sites. Shame people have to be stupid, but anyway on to the RV park. This is what I will call a premier DNR facility, free of course with your Discover Pass. Stays are limited to 5 days, I'll bet I can guess why. The sites are spread out, graveled and in a word, perfect. There are pull through sites like I have never seen, they ask you to occupy with 2 groups each, you could probably fit 4. They are simply huge. Also, the sites for disabled campers are exceptional. Bathrooms spotless and stocked. I was able to get good solar with my mobile panels. Only negative, other than stupid people was the utter lack of any cell signal, it's a dead zone and there is nothing to boost. Sherry Creek is kinda in between Colville and Ione, more toward Ione. The climb in from Colville side is the advisable way to go if you are dragging a big rig. The Ione side is steep with switchbacks. Plenty of great fishing around, the great scenic Tiger Highway, Crystal Falls etc. 5 star place, don't want to ding for the ding bats on dirt bikes. Oh, water was off but I never count on that. Just call DNR if you want to see if it's on. The camp host is not there either, too early I guess.

Great pictures so we were enthused to stay here...but it's overpriced, (seriously $55 for a space?) difficult to get in and out of, not really camping. They tried to squeeze way too many sites into too small a space. Our site was not level. You can hear and see everything your neighbor is doing, and right through their window to the next neighbor. The horses are quite expensive. The touristy town of Cannon Beach is walking distance, but that is about it. Will not return.

This is a perfect location for the Avenue. Called a day ahead and was able to get a reservation. The CA state parks, while probably the "redwood experience" are old and will not work for larger rigs don't even try. They are very dark, some were closed. Now on to Giant Redwoods. The "river" sites are considered the nicest, they are open to the sky - but the river was a creek for our visit. You get a nice view of the valley. If you like trees and cover those kind of sites looked fine too, just dark. The road into the park had us thinking we might have entered a zombie movie - weird looking compounds and junkyards, I am assuming weed growers or whatever. Once you enter the park it is manicured and a little oasis. There is a cute park store with tourist stuff and local wine. Check in was professional and friendly, she went to an effort to give us a nice site with the least amount of neighbors. The included park internet was barely adequate, just depends how close you are to the hardware. We wanted to see and hike the Avenue, I do not think you will find a better park for this purpose. If you have never been, there is very little in the way of retail around - many businesses have closed but what is left is trying. Town of Miranda has a grocery and a couple restaurants. The only negative we experienced is if you happen to drive 6 mph in the park the caretakers freak out and act like you murdered someone. I had a guy come running out of a cabin waving his arms I was confused like maybe there was a world ending event. Kinda weird but I'd stay here again just drive 4 mph I guess. I appreciated the military discount, we normally don't pay this much but it was worth it for the Redwoods.

Mixed use - mostly park models with a few spaces for RVs. The resort itself is lovely, well cared for and the setting is also very nice. Not a place for peace and quiet if that is what you are looking for, privacy is non existent. Lots of side by sides and loud gatherings every night. If I ran the park I would not allow side by sides in the park itself they are so loud - and I have never heard such loud golf carts. The surrounding town of Queen Valley is a mix of some high end houses but some really run down manu homes. There is a golf course with great food and staff (the building is rough but don't let that scare you) they have music occasionally, there is another restaurant that is only open on weekends and a run down C-store. Real shopping is basically an hour round trip.
