Everything previously posted about the roads is certainly true, they are tight but buck up buttercups, it's camping. We got in no problemo with our 34 total length pull behind trailer. We saw a few class A's so clearly it can work. They take reservations up to two weeks prior, and some sites are always available for drive in. This place is VERY popular so if you are reserving, act early. There are dry camps and water/electric (A and C loops) but no sewer, which as we all know can be a limiting factor. Helps if you use the shower facilities (closed during our fall visit) but plan on a trip to the RV dump near the entrance if you are going to stay for a while. The park is owned by the City of Anacortes, and they do a good job. Spoke with a nice guy named Dean who obviously is a professional that cares about taking care of this great park. There is a beach and playground at the entrance, and the fabulous loop road that wraps around the entire point, it's and you can drive your car and slip into a pull off and walk the beach. People walking the road seem to have a severe case of stink eye if are driving a car. Well, stink eye back at ya. The prize is a look out over the channel (you will know it when you see it) and simply put, it's out of a storybook. Down the road is Deception Pass (very busy State Park) the ferry system to the San Juans and of course the charming tourist town of Anacortes with working class bars and restaurants, and a few spendy places of course. Find the Secret Cove, upstairs for the happy hour and views. The locals are welcoming as opposed to many tourist places I've been to. I had my under a wheel checking something and some guy stopped and asked if I need help. That doesn't happen every day.

It's a giant empty lot. 10 bones in the drop box, pick your spot. Very quiet and feels safe. People are friendly, met folks from all over including a stalwart chap camping off his bike. This time of year everyone is spread out so even the loudest generator is tolerable. Dinging one star for the lack of a trash dumpster. Yes, it's dry camping but still. Little tip, when you come down the hill there is a level spot to the left that backs into a hill. That spot will get the latest sun. To the right, a little more seclusion and the prime spot would be the end since you are looking off into the hills. Otherwise as mentioned, it's a giant empty lot. Also when I called to ask if I need a reservation the woman was very nice and advised I didn't need one which is 10 bucks saved and spent in Tombstone. Full bars on Verizon but terrible data speed for some reason. We were able to stream TV and get slow internet.

Off season stop over, the pictures looked nice enough but it's just a giant parking lot with angled back in sites. Way in was sorta rough tight turn roads, but no problems. The hookups are all on the grass edge so might be a stretch for some. The pay kiosk is not for the campground, it's for day use, so you needed exact change or a check. 35 plus technically they wanted another 25 for my toad, but I didn't pay that. Had to unhook the toad just to get some change. While a few miles away at the c store noted rough looking types open carrying pistols...guess this is that part of Utah. This park (there are several in the management unit) is next to a state gun range, also a few rough looking types around. Heard a few shots fired. The camp host was very nice and allowed me to long park my rig since the place was empty. The one bathroom I reviewed was not cared for. You can't see the lake, you can see the earthen dam around it and fields. I sense this place and related campgrounds are pretty busy in the summer, but I will never find out. Perfectly serviceable overnight stop, but I'd choose something else in the future. Phones and hotspot worked as was able to stream tv.

Totally adequate state park directly on the Columbia. Perfect for traveling through the area which is beautiful driving. Pull through and back in sites, my pull though accommodated the 38 Class A and full size truck without unhooking which is always nice when you have been driving all day. It's winter so no water at the site, but available at the dump station - no sewer at the sites either. The interior road is very narrow, but no problems. As mentioned in other posts, there is a train track directly behind the campground, so the pull throughs towards the river are farthest away...but does it really matter. Between the highway across the river and the train, yes there is noise. It didn't bother us or wake us up. I would not camp here for peace and quiet and there are lots of other choices along the route, but we were happy to have power and a stress free stop over at zero cost thanks to Vet pass. The Maryhill winery and concert venue is a few minutes away up on the bluff with a bistro, pricey wines and a lovely view. Highly recommended and truck stop services are right across the river in sight - cheap diesel too. Great coverage on Verizon.
