Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on October 26, 2023I stayed here Sunday, April 16. I was little worried because I read that this place was not open until the 3rd Saturday in April until third Saturday in November. I looked around for a sign to verify these dates but couldn't find any. Of course, the BLM website is still broken for campsites.
I wanted to find a place for the night after leaving Indian Reservoir - North Ramp because of the rain. This place was very easy to get to. A mile on Highway 16 off of Highway 20. It does have 2 vault toilets in the day use area and 2 vault toilets in the camping area.
I was little confused where to park because nothing was marked and it was just full of overgrown grass next to a circular drive. I parked my little Subaru and Trailer on a flattened grass area next to the circular drive. The highway is very close but very little traffic. I could here a stream nearby so, it's possible to get water if you treat it first but none in the area and no trash pick up either.
I did feel safe when it rained compared of the back dirt roads of Indian Reservoir. The roads here were all paved. This is a great little spot for a stop over.
I have Project Fi for cell service and had no signal as usual.

I camped here for two days in a tent and will definitely return. Just pick a spot and Pitch your tent or Park your RV. Has four pit toilets. Nice creek you can clean up in. No potable water be sure to bring everything you need it's a long drive to any nearby towns. I was there on the weekend had a few Travelers and a few locals. Nice hiking trails and horse trails. I would definitely stay here again.

Definitely not what I expected. Beautfiul and gorgeous view. sun comes up over the hills , lots of hiking, horses, friendly people. it gets really cold at night, and really hot during the day. rattle snakes!!! there is a creek you can cross (no bridge or foot bridge) to get over into the wilderness. a couple fire pits. lots of space to camp. mainly RVs and horse ranchers. absolutely NO cell service.

If I didn't work online and have a need for a cell signal, I would have spent a lot more time here. Easy access, beautiful rolling hills and a whole lot of peace and quiet. Went to sleep to the sounds of elk calls and woke up to a gorgeous landscape. It's worth a visit, even if only for one night.

We drive a 33 ft class A with a toad. We wanted to dry camp and just have a few days off the grid. This place fit the bill. Their is a parking area and a large loop with campsites and fire rings. Most spots are pretty level. We went on a hike, be sure to wear long pants because of the spiky plants! Come in with plenty of water because there is none here. Enjoy peace and tranquility!
BTW it’s a horse camp with lots of evidence of horses😉

Heads up that the lower camping is closed from Dec-Apr. We talked to the BLM guy that came by and he gave the okay to stay up in the parking lot. Several other campers stayed up there as well. We roamed in the horse trails and enjoyed the creek. Coyotes howling in the morning. Beautiful and peaceful spot!
Absolutely no cell service once you start driving into the mountains.

Absolutely beautiful gorgeous green grass covered mountains elk roaming the hillsides coyotes in the distance at night Stars absolutely fantastic for stargazing or photography at night. throughout the week it was just one or two campers on the weekend the horse trailers and truck started pulling in for all the horseback/trail riding in those beautiful mountains the trails were beautiful and agorgeous Creek that run through the edge of the camp the only downside I could really say is there are ticks so stay out from underneath the trees as much as possible and bring your bug spray to help with ticks no mosquitoes the sound of the birds lasted all day and all night it was just beautiful highly recommend this spot for extended or overnight!!!!

Maybe don't come here in the summer. It's hot and there are tons of flies. There are also TONS of ticks, which made it impossible for me to bring my dogs hiking. I mean, TONS. TONNNNNSSSSS. We walked about ten feet onto the trail and I pulled about fifteen ticks off my puppy and another eight of my older dog. Nope nope nope. Would be good for an overnight. I felt safe enough here. No service.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect weekend! The campground was clean and mowed, the trails were in excellent shape and the river was still running for fresh water for the horses! Wish it could stay like this year round!
