This part of Texas is wide open!

I needed a spot to overnight between Deming and Carlsbad. This fit the bill. 62/180 runs 75 mph here, so be ready to make a left into this picnic area if you're heading east. I stayed here on a Wednesday night and I was the only overnight rig. Before about 10, there were a number of cars that came and went (pee breaks). There are two covered tables and a ton of trash containers. No other amenities (no restrooms). The drive is paved, and level enough for my moho to put Jack's down and slides out.

Definitely a worthwhile place to overnight. Cell signal was in and out on Wednesday, but managed to get 1 bar of 4G on Thursday morning before I left.

Nothing much to add to the other reviews. Nearly dead level. Lots of campers but totally quiet after 9pm.

Definitely worth it. 5 day max, but that's all I planned to stay anyway!

Plenty of room for big rigs. I'm 38ft plus a Jeep toad with a cargo basket.

If you plan to fill your fresh water, plan to have patience. It took 30 minutes to fill my 65 gallons. The potable is at the dump, but back a ways. I had to run a second fresh water hose to get to my fill port. Dump itself is clean and level. Very easy to get to both sets of tanks on my rig. The non potable water has no thread end so you can't do a black tank flush, but that's not a deal breaker. The dumps are outside of the RV park proper - near the group sites for tents and day campers. Free to use once you're inside of the recreational area (annual pass or pay to enter as with any federal agency run park).

What a gem. When you pull in, it doesn't seem like much. Continue to the west end and there you'll find a loop with a RV dump and rinse water. There are potable hydrants in the center of the circle near the lightpole ( and on the dump side just past the dump (blue hydrants in the middle of the lawn). Well off of the interstate and I felt comfortable letting my dogs take an off leash run near the corn fields.

I am here now on 703B by the cell towers in a 38ft class A with a toad. Nice, flat, and 360 views. And. Of course. Great cell coverage! There are hundreds of miles of well maintained roads to choose from with thousands of dispersed camping areas throughout Medicine Bow NF. If you have a large RV, avoid the Vedauwoo area. It's small and cramped. Instead, head to the Abraham Lincoln memorial on I80. From there, you can get any size rig deep into the forest to camp.

I was able to find this spot at night using the coordinates in the listing. I grabbed the first spot on the left (east) side of the road which required a U turn to get my nose pointed back north (my preferred parking position). There was plenty of room for me to make the turn with my 38 ft rig and Acadia towed car.

Site is level enough that I didn't bother with jacks. Fire rings of local rocks at the sites (some fancier than others). Great sunrise and sunset. Right on the road to the Valley of Fire (don't miss this!!).

Tonight, a Kit fox came to visit the camp. Very cute and curious. Wasn't afraid of me at all and actually walked under my chair! Clearly, this little critter has been fed before. It seemed really disappointed when I didn't give it some of my supper.

Verizon signal is strong, but the bandwidth stinks. Good enough for email and low demand office work though. Phone call connection is excellent.

Did I mention Valley of Fire?? Seriously, don't miss it ($10 gate fee/day for a car).

We stopped here on our way south because we spotted it from 1D. What a lucky find! Showers, banjos, beach access, level parking. Dry camping, but that's OK!

My 39ft class A pulling a Jeep Wrangler was no problem. I am 13 ft tall and the wires at the gate were very close, but I made it.

Prices are by size. My rig was charged 300 pesos for 24 hrs. My friends converted van was 250. They have a 7pm to 7am option for 150 peso too.

Gated, small oxxo near, nice restaurant near. Definitely a good start to our Baja journey.

Verizon through Telcel is fast here too!

The road to the lake itself is closed to vehicles. However, there is camping all around it on the 'rim' of the lake off of 310 and 302. Beautiful here. Also, no bugs above the lake. You can hike in and camp near the lake too. Just no vehicles.

Large, level, grassy field with marked sites. All are pull through and large enough for my 38ft class A + Jeep toad. Level enough to put out all of my slides without needing to level up first. A real treat along this rocky coastal region. I arrived after hours, found a spot, chatted with some other campers, and slept. In the morning, I checked in and told the staff where I was parked. Don't try to call ahead. They do not accept reservations and will not be able to tell you if there is any space available. Max camping is 2 days. When I say "camping" I really mean low-impact parking. You don't have a campsite. You have a boondocking parking place in an area that otherwise has no overnight free parking. So, be kind and respectful of the property. Support this Harvest Host site with a purchase while you're here, too.

This place is so quiet and peaceful. I camped real close to the abandoned Ranch. There's only one little pull off on the road that takes you to the ranch. Don't try to go any further unless you have a lot of clearance and a 4 by 4 because you have to cross several steep washes to get any further then the first pull-off area. Take a hike down to the ranch. It's really interesting. Cell service is incredibly fast with full bars of Verizon 4G LTE even a mile or so off of the highway. I have a 38 ft motorhome and I pull a full-sized SUV behind it. I had no problem getting back here and finding a nearly perfectly level site in an incredibly quiet and private area.
