I needed a spot to overnight between Deming and Carlsbad. This fit the bill. 62/180 runs 75 mph here, so be ready to make a left into this picnic area if you're heading east. I stayed here on a Wednesday night and I was the only overnight rig. Before about 10, there were a number of cars that came and went (pee breaks). There are two covered tables and a ton of trash containers. No other amenities (no restrooms). The drive is paved, and level enough for my moho to put Jack's down and slides out.
Definitely a worthwhile place to overnight. Cell signal was in and out on Wednesday, but managed to get 1 bar of 4G on Thursday morning before I left.

This is technically a picnic area, but unlike others in the area you pull into the area away from the main road. So the picnic areas are between you and the traffic. Heavy winds all night but moderate traffic noise and few people pulling into the picnic area. There are no restroom facilities but this does not stop any of those stopping in from using the ground as their restroom. There is trash service here and other than the prior comment, the picnic area was well maintained and clean. There are two covered picnic tables but ample parking for more than than two to park. Any RV could fit here. Verizon service was spotty at best - fluctuated from SOS only to two bars.
