Cute secluded affordable campground! The road in looked a little sketchy (the road could use some repair and I had to weave around some potholes in the dirt road) but I made it down with my 40' rv towing a van just fine! The gravel road in, is only wide enough for 1 vehicle. This is a place where check in and check out times are very important! If a rig like mine was coming in as I was leaving.... we'd be screwed because you can't back up a car dolly! But there were only a few people there so all went fine. A wider road would be nice. There are no septic hook ups, but a dump station as you leave. My cousin stayed in a cabin and they are bare bones. Beds and mattress covers and that is IT! you bring your own bedding, sheets, fans, etc. Our rv spot had some 🌳 and a picnic table with fire πŸ”₯ ring. It was a very nice and peaceful campground! $35/nt for our rv spot and $45/nt for the cabins! There's a nice hiking path at spot #17 that goes down by the paint river. Very pretty down there if you're up for a hike! πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ Bathrooms were nice with 2 showers and wifi was good! Google maps shows no campground but if you turn onto 2nd from the main street going up, follow that straight and you'll see the blue camping sign to know you're going the right way! Lol once you go down the hill you'll see the sign for the campground. Easy peasy!

This was by far our favorite falls of the 3 we saw on this day! It was shallow water, you could walk on the rocks, they weren't slippery despite all the algae on them, you can climb up the falls, saw some 🐸 in the water, it was not freezing cold water.... very peaceful. There were however tiny little leaches attached to the rocks everywhere. I waded through the water with my crocs on though and didn't get any on my feet in the 15 or so min we were there for. We walked down the hill by where we parked and the climb down and back up was pretty treacherous! Lots of tree roots to step on and hang onto but slick at the bottom. Another family came around the other side so I'm not sure if there's an easier path down there? But once you get there it's great!

Nice waterfall with a nice, flat, short walking path to it! Went mid July- it had been dry so the bugs weren't even bad!

Easy, short walk to 2 different platforms for viewing of the waterfall. You can't go off the trail and you can't get TO the falls. Trees are getting overgrown so you can't see the fall as well but it was a quick walk. Still nice to see for a quick stop.

Nice sandy beach. Several picnic tables and grills to use which was cool. Lots of little stick pieces in the sand near the parking area- stabbed my bare feet a few times. Nothing fancy, but it is a decent beach on lake superior.

Cool old buildings to see and very beautiful beach on lake Michigan! This is at a state park so it's $10 to park for the day. We also went to kitch-iti-kipi the same day and went to that state park with the same day pass! Only 1/2 hr away.

My teens weren't real impressed with waiting in line but they did say it was pretty cool to see when we were done. They can only put 36-40 people on at once and it takes 15-18min each time- so you can do the math on how long you'll need to wait. Lol go in the morning for less people. it costs $10 to park for the day, as it's at a state park. Go to Fayette historical site about 30min. Away- also a state park, and get a 2 for 1 on the same day! Don't forget to check out the beach at fayette too!

Cool place to see. Even my teens said it was "pretty cool". πŸ˜‰ make sure you go down by the water and see the beatiful rocky beach! The water was so clear as far out as I could see and also had a rocky bottom. Very cool! I was a little disappointed that I couldn't see the latest building- the upstairs of hotel but... I get it. It's old. Lol but that would have been a cool one to see. Some areas in all the buildings are blocked off and set up with furniture, and other rooms are empty where you can walk through. Don't forget to go to the visitor center, and I recommend it AFTER you look at the buildings- I felt it made more sense after you saw the real buildings. $10 for a daily state park pass to get in. Drive another 30min to kitchie-iti-kipi to that state park and get into 2 in 1 day!

This campground has lots of trees, lots of spots, & pretty spacious! We had a 40' motorhome towing our van and fit in our spot no problem. The owners- father and sighted were very nice! We didn't arrive until 10:40pm est, which, when I was planning, totally didn't realize it's in the EST zone. I had said we'd be arriving late ahead of time and they said it was "no problem- call anytime you arrive". The map looks fine but this place is HUGE and I really appreciated her leading us to our space because I never would have found it in the dark!!
Wi-fi was weak and we're right across from the building that has wifi. Cricket phone service was very spotty too. You have to pretty much go sit in the building BUT that building is also a bar and the sign says no one under 21 allowed in. So.... idk.
The shower rooms and bathrooms were ok/ decent. My 13yo daughter said a little creepy. Lol but they're older but worked well. Several little quirky old buildings/ structures that look like they're not being used anymore but.... things to see and read. It's right across the street from lake Superior! It has a nice sandy beach you can drive or walk to, no yooper rocks to find cuz it's just sand but it's supposed to be a great place to see the Northern Lights which we"re going to check out tonight! We would definitely come back again!

Well, this was very anticlimactic. πŸ˜† we went to Hellen Hunt falls and continued on the "short hike" I had read about on Google reviews. At the top is roughly 7300-7400' in elevation at the top (my husband has elevation on his watch but we forgot to check at the top) but were winded going up! There are benches close to the top top rest THANK GOD! πŸ˜† It's uneven ground with uneven stepping stones and wood and blocks on a pretty steep incline on kitty litter type substrate. Going down my 13yo daughter and I slipped and almost fell a couple times. 😬 NOT for those who aren't steady on their feet or need assistance walking! And the good thing is, you're not missing anything! There's like this little stream at the top of this long walk. We weren't impressed at all. The view from up there was impressive but the water fall was not. I personally wouldn't go again. Unless you like the hiking part just to hike.... just go to Hellen Hunt and call it good. 🀣
