Very nice walk in THE SHADE to the narrows! It was 107° the day we went but cool in the morning when we went. This would be a great option for mid day when it's warmer out! The path was nice, there are friendly squirrels (because people feed them but they're not supposed to) but they are very cute to see up close! We are from WI so this weather was horrible because we didn't have any acclimation time from low 70's. The Riverwalk and narrows would have been great when it was warmer. We did the emerald pools later though because.... we didn't know what we didn't know. Lol THAT was miserable in the heat!
38 miles to Moab, well worth the drive to save some money! It's close to train tracks BUT we only heard 1 go by last night at about 8pm before we went to bed. We do use a fan for noise and heard nothing else. Make sure you have everything! We realized our gopro didn't have a memory card. Closest walmart is 60 miles away! 😳 we're going to check at the dollar general in Moab today. 🤞Lol The driveway IS gravel but it's bigger rocks. Not too dusty.
The overlook by the visitor center... eh. Go further down the road to the other overlook. If it weren't for THAT view, I feel it wouldn't have been worth the admission.
We really enjoyed this. Next year they're building a new facility on more land to accommodate mammals too! It's a free will offering and their recommendation is $5 per adult and $3/ child. I love supporting places that don't charge an arm and a leg for entrance fees!! ❤ They gave info on all the animals and why they're there and the volunteers are very knowledgeable if you have any questions!
This place has no bells or whistles. It's bare bones, old and run down BUT the beds are comfy, it has a full size apartment fridge freezer, no microwave (but there's a small microwave in the lobby to use). This place was probably beautiful back in its day and really has a lot of potential but it's pretty run down. Our carpet in our room hadn't been vacuumed but the beds were clean and made up. The pool is nice and clean. Honestly if it weren't for the view and the price, we would have stayed elsewhere. But the price was right for an ocean view. Everyone is very nice. Limited parking available so if you leave at night, you may not have a spot when you return and may need to park on the street. There are a few pizza places across the bridge which was a nice short walk with a beautiful nighttime view!
Not a whole lot to see, but it was on the list! Lol I found a spot to park, the line was down the sidewalk but we didn't have time for that! My daughter and I jumped out of the car, stood on the bench area and took a selfie and... done! Onto better things! Lol so what if we got others in our photo! We were still there. 😆
First off, we are not fancy people. We travel on the cheap. Lol no luxury or bells and whistles here but the beds were comfy, lots of parking available, pool was very nice, coffee.
although a little chilly in Jan says my daughter. Lol breakfast options were cereal, muffins, bread, English muffins, and hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee.
Our ONLY complaint about our stay was the a/c unit. The fan didn't stay on all the time. It would cycle off and on all night and was rather loud. It would go from silence to a loud fan every 15-20 min all. Night. Long. Our last day there we had to get ear plugs which totally helped and we slept well. Everything else was great! So if you have ear plugs or a small, louder fan for background noise, you should be good!

BEAUTIFUL views at this campground!! Something I had not considered though- being I had never been to the mountains before and hadn't thought about it.... THE ELEVATIOIN!! They are at roughly 10,000' and that didn't sit well with us at all! All night we both woke up and felt out of breath. (we're from WI! LOL) We packed up as early as we could in the morning to leave because of that. We were soooo tired from waking up all night long feeling like someone was sitting on our chests! Uggg.... BUT, if you're used to the higher elevations, then it shouldn't be an issue! The owner was SUPER NICE!!! Nice, quiet campground, well kept. No tree shade anywhere and they do have a gravel driveway in from the road. If it weren't for the elevation, we'd definitely stay there again!
The 2 women running this place were behind a plexiglass wall with masks on and wouldn't even answer my husband's question- who was standing outside! Unless he put a mask on! The doors were all locked and if you needed something for supplies you had to ask from outside the plexiglass barrier and they'd go get it for you. They even have the biffys placed 6' apart with stickers stating to stay 6' apart. There is safe and then there's ridiculous. This was rediculous!
So the main picture is deceiving. 😆 We came here to check out the views. We didn't camp or rock climb and were not hikers. LOL Only 20 people are allowed INSIDE the canyon a day. This is a drive around the road, stop at the pull offs and see the beautiful views from above. There are some hiking paths to follow to the overlooks and the map they give you tells you how far each hike is. Absolutely beautiful though and definitely worth it! 😍
