“the highest KOA in the world”

At 10,000 feet above sea level, the Cripple Creek KOA is the highest KOA in the world. Perched on the side of a hill in an alpine meadow, we offer panoramic views of the high mountain countryside around us, glorious sunsets, and quiet, restful nights with fabulous star gazing. We feature all pull-through RV sites, deluxe and primitive camping cabins, wilderness tent sites in the trees, or electric/water deluxe tent sites closer to our central amenities.  Outdoor storage is also available during the camping season. We provide remote family camping in a natural setting, so please review our and  section to learn about services that may be limited onsite.Located within an hour of many Pike's Peak and Royal Gorge area attractions, and only a few miles from the historic towns of Cripple Creek and Victor, which boast gold mining history, museums, tours, and gambling - there is a lot to do nearby.  Numerous outdoor adventures are also within a few miles, including hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, horseback riding, geocaching, and abundant wildlife.

Owners very nice and helpful. Showers nice and clean, although a little "small" dressing area. Restrooms nice and clean. Store with groceries, souvenirs, and camping items. High altitude at 10,000 feet, so be prepared. Due to fire ban, couldn't use grills or fire ring. Nice and quiet. You have to drive up in the mountains to get to, but breathtaking views. Way up. Please pay heed to speed limits! Wifi spotty due to mountains. No cable tv or antenna reception-again because of mountains. Primitively tent camping available as well as cabins. Beautiful views!

Amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Easy access to Cripple Creek, Victor (mine tours), Florissant fossil Beds National Monument and other tourist attractions.
Strong Verizon signal, but no signal for other carriers. Strong WiFi since owners have upgraded system recently.
No cable, but we were able to get a few TV channels with antenna.
Owners are very friendly and helpful, lots of great Cripple Creek souvenirs and camp necessities in the camp store.
Very well kept grounds and buildings.

Overall a great experience at a wonderful campground. We are definitely coming back again next year.

Cripple Creek KOA - Cripple Creek, Colorado. $44.89 per night for pull-through with 50 amp Full Hook-ups. That price is discounted with a KOA card. This is one of our very favorite places in Colorado. We stayed 5 nights at the Cripple Creek KOA with two couples who are traveling with us for a few weeks. The weather in this area is picture perfect for us and the views are stunning. The park is managed/owned by just the best couple, Deric & Teri Gunter, who have become our friends. They care about their park and their campers. The gravel and road base roads are well maintained as are the sites. This park is built on the side of a mountain, so each site is a bit higher in elevation than the next. Several have beautiful rock patios complete with lovely outdoor furniture. The little store is well stocked and all public areas are sparkling clean. We used the laundry room and appreciated their attention to CoVid precautions, giving out appointments so that only one person is using the laundry at a time with cleaning and disinfecting between uses. Washers are $2 and dryers $1.50. We love the sunsets from this park and plan on going back there again before we head to Texas for the winter. In general, I am not a commercial park kind of gal, much preferring state parks; but this KOA is an exception that I will make over and over again. While in that area be sure to visit both Cripple Creek and Victor - both mining towns with some great history. We recommend taking the Molly Kathleen Mine and Newmont Mine tours, giving you a great view of mining past and present. And if you are up for an adventure, take a trip down Phantom Canyon (without a trailer) from Victor to Canon City gives you some great views and the pullouts give you a history lesson as you will be following what use to be the cog-train track - now made into an unpaved and somewhat narrow road.

Great campground. Clean and very well run. Everyone is very nice. We loved checking out Cripple Creek, Victor, and Royal Gorge.

The internet works great. If you have an AT&T iPhone, you can only FaceTime or text with other iPhones. If they don’t have an iPhone, you’ll only be able to email.

We will definitely be back.

Rate is average nightly rate we paid in May/June 2021, including a holiday weekend, extra fees for 2 teenagers, and KOA rewards discount.

Probably the first KOA we've stayed at where we felt the rate paid was worth it. At 10,000 feet in elevation, this campground is situated on a hillside in the mountains at the base of Pike's Peak, resulting in beautiful surroundings and views. Interior roads are a bit narrow and RV site spacing is pretty typical for a KOA, but everything else gets an A+ from us.

Owners and staff were consistently helpful and friendly. Grounds are clean and well cared for. Bathrooms, showers, coin laundry, gift shop/store, corn hole, pedal cart rental, dog run, dump station, $4 weekend pancake breakfast, cabins and tent spaces all available.

Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, historic mining towns of Cripple Creek & Victor, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods/Colorado Springs, all great day trips from here. 30 min drive to town of Woodland Park for major grocery markets, gas, dining, shopping. We had plenty of Verizon signal to stream video, but no AT&T or T-Mobile.

It's a bit out of the way, and the effects of the high elevation aren't to be laughed at, but it's worth the effort!

KOA style campgrounds are not my favorite way to camp, but I was pleased with this KOA. They work hard to keep it clean. It was a short drive to either Victor, CO or Cripple Creek, CO from here. My only complaint is that the sites are close together and not very long. We have a 35’ 5th wheel and we could not fit our truck in the spot with the camper. This seemed to be problem for a lot of other campers there too. No road noise from the campground.

Stumbled on this resort when our planned boondocking spot couldn’t accommodate our rig. We loved the beauty and charm here and enjoyed our brief stay immensely. The only downside was that they charge extra for kids and for dogs, which felt silly to me. Nonetheless, I would stay again.

Very clean KOA!! And the views are absolutely stunning!!! You’re literally on the side of the mountain and it is just gorgeous here. Enclosed dog park and 2 play structures for kids. I give 4 stars because the sites were a bit short and drive ways were a little tight too. But nothing too bad to where I wouldn’t come back. Would love to stay here again if we come back to CO.

The camp WiFi was slow but dependable...much better than some campgrounds we've been to. Our AT&T hotspot did not work well here. We ended up using the camp WiFi instead. The store and laundry were top-notch and clean. (We never used the bathrooms or showers). The employees were very friendly. This was a nice quiet RV park. The sites were close but adequate. It rained almost every single day for a little while but it’s the monsoon season. Most campsites are on a hill but spaces were surprisingly level - all pull-thrus. Water/sewer/50 amp worked perfectly. We were in site 147 and would stay in this campground again if we're ever in the area. There are beautiful views of surrounding mountains and sunsets. The place filled up on weekends and pretty empty during the week.

We enjoyed our stay. A drive to Cripple Creek, so not walking distance to the town.
