As always, great clean sites with lake sites. Full hookups for our site and quick service when an outlet needed to be switched out. Sunsets over the water are incredible. Can’t wait to come back, again. Near airport with minimal distribution. Turns out SpaceX is across the water and we heard and felt a rocket test. Crazy cool!

Great place to stay! It is within a mile from the South Rim visitor’s center and a great please to watch elk wander next to your site. Classic sites are gravel and spaced apart nicely. The premium spots are paved but close together.

Restrooms close by as well along with trash and single stream recycling bins. Full hookups with sewer at each site.

We would stay again definitely.

No signal for cell. Only bits of time when you are near the buildings but then why are you on the phone at the Grand Canyon?

Site J04. Ford F250 and Grand Design Imagine 28’. Nice almost perfectly level concrete cite. Nice picnic table with awning and table for cleaning fish. Grass but watch out for the cockle burrs of the puppies feet. Ouch.
Stayed 1 night. Walmart and town of Hugo within 5-6 miles.
Not great signage to find the park and the address was a bit off but found it and enjoyed the quiet night.
Dump station as you exit. $3 for non campers but it’s a ways down the road off the highway so I doubt many use it. Free firewood to campers which is nice.

We enjoyed the trees and shade on site 63. Not far from the trailheads. Quiet as well.

Covid has brought this park access controlled gates at the entrance so remember to ask for a gate code. They did not give us one and arrived to find a gate and had to start calling to find someone who could open the gate. We even arrived at 4pm before the office closed. Thankfully someone picked up and allowed us in. That’s messed up.

Well. Needed a cheap place to stay for a night. Full hookups but man is that highway loud! Not much sleep had by anyone. All dirt and gravel so not great for the dogs. Cool vintage cars and trailers to check out. Did not use any facilities.

First time at this state park. Had expectations of doggie trails and a nice site. No luck. Dirty site with crumbing asphalt. No views. After cleaning the site we got settled for 2 nights. Ants are a problem for sure. Ugh. There is a renovation in progress around the park and it needs it. They should find the money or time to clear dead trees. Our site had one and thankfully did not fall and do any damage. Dump station was good. Did not use any facilities so I can’t speak to if they were ok. Several sites near us appeared to be full time living with trash and free roaming dogs. We won’t be back unless all of that changes. On to more parks and back to more COE parks.
Texas State Park pass discount.

We stopped here for a night. Got a spot of two left even after 8 pm. Easy to back in for the spot. Nice surroundings with trees and walk path around the lake. Loved being able to walk the dogs. However, did not realize there was a train track nearby and it would blow the horn all night. Even with ear plugs I heard it. I liked that is was clean. Even a port a potty for those without a bathroom.

Woke up to a peaceful morning. Walked the puppies and enjoyed breakfast. Well cared for lawn and lake area. Second time here and it is well worth the $15 donation to have water, electric, and trash. Some sites have 50 amp that is not functioning but they are marked with signs.

With the Texas Park pass we did not pay the day use fees of $6 per person per day. One thing I would say that needs to be addressed is the quality of the site asphalt. The quality varied largely from site to site with a mixture of narrow to wide as well. Watch out for the trees if you have slides. On the up side, beautiful park with trails, awesome lake for either fishing, boating or just watching the ducks and geese. So peaceful. Beautiful night sky as there is no outside pollution or nearby city lights. We look forward to returning by soon to enjoy more of what this park has to offer. Masks were worn which was a must for us. Met so many great people. Be careful to do your research when picking a site. Use Google earth or however you want to assess the ease of entry to a site.

Not a bad COE but unfortunately they were on a boil water situation related to bacteria. Poor water pressure for shower but glad we had a decent amount of water in our tank from home.
Sites on a hill so each site had a good view. Poor Wi-Fi for us.
