I intended to stay at slake Sinclair for 8 nights, but after 1 night, I left. There are 5 water and electric sites, lallbfirst come first served. #2 was closed. #3 only had a 20 amp breaker, not enough to run ac during the heat wave. #4 had a very leaky water pump so that you needed to fill fresh water tank rather than use water direct from pump. #5 water pump totally broken. So that left #1 as only fully useable hook up site. None were level. These 5 are in loop A which backs up to road to boat ramp so you hear a constant flow trucks and boat trailers gunning by on a weekend. There is one trail from camp, but it is very poorly maintained and got impassible after 1.25 mi. I did not look at tent loops.
No Verizon from Loop A. Boat ramp has adequate reception.

This 29 site campground is forested, so shady, but only 1 intermittent bar Verizon. At site 2, I had some WiFi from Visitor Center. Some OTA tv. A good 15 mi hiking trail from campground, although some is on highway. Road biking is good on highway—no shoulder, but light traffic and relatively flat. Sites are paved and level. 2 stall shower is hot with good pressure.

Paid $37/night for electric only on a very unlevel site #22. Site was private with shrubbery on three sides, but even with levelers, my back on a 19’ van was 7” off. Site was relatively clean as was shower house. However, there was no temperature control on the showers. Water never got above warm. Coin-op laundry adequate and clean. Water to fill fresh water tank was only available at the dump station with two spigots for 200 camp sites. As you can imagine, quite a wait to fill. Hosts never made contact in the three nights I stayed. Verizon signal ok-good. Many OTA tv stations. Hiking from camp trails good. Road biking through camp good.

Stony Fork has large, private, shady sites. Some with water and electric ($30), electric only ($26), and dry ($20). Discount with pass, but less than 50%. $8 reservation fee. Campground is wooded with stream meandering through. Very peaceful and quiet. Host Steve does an excellent job and is very visible. There’s a 1 mile Nature Loop from camp that connects to the 5 mile Seven Sisters Trail. Strong Verizon signal. No OTA tv.

There was much about this camp that I liked-hiking trails from camp, good Verizon connection, OTA tv. However showers were tepid! Yikes.

Site 52 not level but on lake. Unfortunately shoreline was full of litter. I picked up some, but avoided diapers and unknown objects. Women’s Bath house only has 1 shower and is dark and dated. Nice breeze off lake on a hot day.

Some sites are private. Most have shade (lots of trees in park). They are deceptively unlevel. I couldn’t get my 19’ van label using blocks. 2bars LTE Verizon. Some OTA tv.
Bike path is partly paved, partly crushed stone, easy for narrow tires. Lots of shade. It’s the best part of campground/park.
There is only one bathhouse in whole camp. It is large, but dated and dirty. Moldly shower curtains. Mold in grout. Floor and shower stalls hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Water is hot with adequate pressure in most stalls (check pressure first).

Blackwoods is a good location to explore MT Desert Island in Acadia National Park. Sites are basic—dry camping at $30/night. No showers. No hot water to wash hands in bathrooms. Little privacy between sites. Never saw a Host or Ranger cruising through in three nights. Only Loop A allows generators. Verizon signal very weak—1 intermittent bar.

Other than boating/fishing, there isn’t much to do at this bargain camp (if you have an Access Pass it’s $13/night). The 3.5 mi trail is closed due to bridges being out for the last year. Walking the entire campground with all the loops will be almost five miles. Road biking on county roads is pleasant even though the speeds are high, but there is little traffic and drivers seem considerate. Verizon connection ok—2 bars LTE. Dozens of OTA tv stations.
There is quite a difference in condition of the two Loops.
Catoma (1-75) Loop has a smooth asphalt road and concrete pads. One of the two bathhouses is modern and the coin operated laundry is open. The sites appear more spacious. The dump water spigot does not have a hose.
Antioch (76-142) Loop’s road is badly pot-holed and sites are gravel. Its bathhouse is dated and grungy. The laundry is closed. There are inadequate garbage cans and dumpsters. All were overflowing on my stay. The dump does have a hose.

This is a beautiful, natural park with history. Good hiking trails. County roads outside park quiet for road biking. It’s a small campground with little privacy between sites. Many not level, like 16. Good Verizon coverage and many OTA tv stations. My major complaint is the abundance of ticks. I have never had so many in 40 yrs of hiking. BEWARE! Dozens on my dog and many on me despite precautions.
