The FHU loop looks like a soccer pitch, no shade and sites very close together. There’s little adherence to vehicle and people limits/site. There’s one run-down shower house (distant from FHU loop) for 100 sites. Water was turned off at 10:00am Sunday in May.
The other loops with a mix of electric and no hook ups are more natural with shade and more space between sites. No laundry.
Dozens of OTAtv stations, all major broadcast. Verizon 1bar LTE from my site 84.
Hiking trails leave from CG. In May ticks were ubiquitous.
Road biking hilly on peaceful Park roads.
Glad I was only here 2 nights. Too many campers in the dense FHU loop.

Beautiful remote campground in a natural setting with water and electricity at sites. The pluses: relatively private, level sites with shade, fire rings, tables, and lantern posts; heated/air-conditioned bath houses with hot water; hosts keep campground clean; good well-marked hiking trails, and access to pleasant small lake.
The big negative is that Forest Service Rangers do not enforce 14-day limit nor make sure everyone pays the nominal fee. There were many squatters. Friendly hosts were not able to enforce.
No cell reception; need to go several miles from camp to get 1 bar LTE on Verizon. Other carriers don’t appear to be any better.
The charm is that camp is remote, stock up before; it’s 20 miles to a grocery store. Good paved roads.

For $24/night you get a place on the grass with 15/30 amp, fire pit and picnic table all on left side of vehicle. So it’s awkward to use side door of rig. Wouldn’t matter to tenters. Sites are very uneven and difficult to level on wet ground. No privacy between sites. 1-6 have shade. Road in is pot-holed. The camp ground does not have a security gate; sketchy being so close to town. Only porta-potties in camp ground. Water spigots around park.

On the plus side, there’s a 3 mile hiking trail and long distance paved bike path just outside the park. Big dog park with lake about a mile away. Verizon signal strong and a wide range of OTA tv.

This 29 site campground is forested, so shady, but only 1 intermittent bar Verizon. At site 2, I had some WiFi from Visitor Center. Some OTA tv. A good 15 mi hiking trail from campground, although some is on highway. Road biking is good on highway—no shoulder, but light traffic and relatively flat. Sites are paved and level. 2 stall shower is hot with good pressure.

This would be a great campground if there were portable water to fill tanks. The camp has repeatedly failed tests because of heavy metals. Boiling doesn’t help. So length of stay is dictated by size of fresh water tank. It’s been an on going problem and not sure how serious they are about fixing.
Otherwise the forested camp has good-sized sites that are level and most have electric. Showers are serviceable—Grungy with no temperature controls and timed shut offs. Warm water with fair pressure. There are two trails—a 3/4 mi out and back along the reservoir and a very muddy 1/2 mi Nature Trail. Verizon weak and no OTA tv.
No camp hosts or check-in. Reservations are on site posts.

The restaurant and menu are standard, but the parking lot is huge with places away from the interstate. Plenty of grass for dog walking. As a solo traveler I felt safe.

Road sign reads “Kyle Canyon Picnic Area” yet it is a small campground just east of the larger Fletcher View Campground. Sites are well spaced and many have mountain views, although some close to road which does not have much traffic. Pit toilets. No hookups. Several trailheads very close.
$18 weekends, $12 weekdays, 50% less with Pass.

Although sites are large and relatively private, it is expensive for what you get. Sites are very unlevel (I tried three.) Utility post is on same side as picnic table/fire pit. So you need to have cords long enough to go around your vehicle, or walk around your vehicle to “living” area.
As a full/times I have stayed in state parks throughout the US. This by far is the worst.
Sites assigned at entry; you need to beg to be moved if there are available sites.
Showers are VERY basic and a 1+mi walk from
RV sites.
The park touts 25 mi of trails, but they don’t provide a trail map. AllTrails doesn’t have an accurate map. Trailheads are distant from RV sites.
Road biking basically impossible, gravel roads turn to deep sand and/or potholed and wash boarded.
Map provided at check isn’t detailed enough to show trails or how to get to historical sites. It doesn’t show camp sites. They’re higgly-piggly and not well signed. Date on map is 2013.
2 bars 5G on Verizon and full array of OTA tv.
Cell Tour is basically all advertising , not informative on history or natural features.

Other than the paved bike path along 30A, there’s not much to recommend this campground. Hiking trails are across busy 30A and very sandy. You can drive to beach communities with restaurants/boutique shopping.
