Been there, done that (got the tee shirt).
Cavendish is still recovering from deforestation as a result of Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Most the old growth trees are gone. The beach is nice and the facilities are clean, but PEI in general is a once and done kind of place (unless you’re an Anne of Green Gables fanatic). There’s not much hiking nor much wilderness on the island. The good news is there is plenty of mini golf and tee shirt shops to occupy you. (Cows Ice cream is excellent if you have a sweet tooth!).

Great spot on the coast with a beach and near lots of beautiful coastal trails. While showing some age, the facilities were very, very clean. The sites are a bit more open than we’d like; however, everyone is friendly.

The facility is beautiful. The sites are well buffered and nicely shaded. The bathhouses looked brand new with lots of water pressure and super clean.
The drive through the park provides awesome views and hanging around Hopewell Rocks is a great experience (especially at low tide). Plenty to do and we will certainly be back on our next tour of the NE.

Yacht haven has a few nightly spots, but most people here are extended-stay residents (I was here during a consulting project.), fulltimers, and seasonal residents. From January through April every site is doubled up and may not be your idea of a good time. From April through November, the park is relatively quiet and there’s lots of breathing room. That said, there’s not many trees to accommodate high season.

In general, the place is kept clean if not well maintained. Over the year I was there, the laundry was functional, clean, and social. The staff are congenial and attentive, especially to those folks who stay for longer stays. The location is super convenient to the airport and seaport as well as downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Miami and the beaches are close as well. As such, Yacht Haven is not the place to set up the hammock although the I never noticed the expressway/airplane noise as reported in another review.

Yacht Haven is a clean, albeit a bit run down, conveniently located park from which you can enjoy a big city stay.

Most of the sites were spacious and well screened from each other. The facilities were clean and relatively new. We had a full hook up site and the only issue we had was the connection was higher than the outlet from the trailer. The dump station was easy to get in and out of in all cases. Very nice all the way around.

The planes including big jets (Southwest 737s, Spirit A319/A320s) pass right overhead at very low altitude (perhaps less than 200 feet), shaking the trailer every 3-10 minutes. The air turbulence scrambles cell as well as tv/radio signals. The garbage pick up was spotty and this small property was not well kept.

Like me when I got to Fort Lauderdale in January, most of the people here had no other place to stay. Most left as soon as they could.

After a month, I decided to sleep at Walmart instead.

Broward County has very good camping.

Not as convenient to downtown and the beaches as some of the other parks, but all of the facilities are first rate.

Lots of ants! Bring powder or a spray for any contact points with the ground.
Site 30 is not as treed as the others but you have the entire point to yourself.
It can get windy in the summer as the heat creates summer thunderstorms.
Good location near Augusta, GA. We avoid crossing Atlanta at all costs and this makes a good stop on our way to I-26

Myrtle Beach State Park is a unmolested strip of beachfront wild that is a welcome change from the endless strip of tee shirt shops and mini putt facilities.
The campsites are well shaded and there are a few on loop 6 that provide buffered space between the sites. The rest of the sites are fairly packed together and shallow. In June, the campground was busy with lots of golf cart and bicycle traffic. The park is fairly noisy, but gets appropriately quiet at “Quiet time”
The park staff are Southern friendly and we’re all very helpful.
Our site (147) was next to the Nature & Activity center, so we had great Wi-Fi reception. T-Mobile service was non-existent; however, AT&T & Verizon both had excellent speed test results (40/50 Mbps up and 15/18 Mbps down respectively).

We would return to the park, but not Myrtle Beach. #beentheredonethat

We stayed in site #15, which is perhaps too close to the road way that is popular with the Harley crowd in the Summer. (As it should be due to being the closest twisty, hilly road ways to the northern Great Plains.) Our site was private, ample, and well maintained. The road noise was more than tolerable. We think the best site on the property is probably #12, being the furthest from the highway with good buffering. The single-digit sites no buffer from the highway. Without boosting equipment, cell signal is nonexistent. Hill City has a library with WiFi.

On our approach, Waze guided us to the Needles Highway which features narrow tunnels through the mountains (picture included). Luckily, we carry a road atlas as cell service is spotty without signal boosting equipment.

Nearby Hill City has an attractive main street complete with ice cream, gift shops, etc. a decent buffalo burger and local artists.

The chemical toilets were clean and the Camp Host is attentive. No shower house; however, the Mount Rushmore KOA sells a shower pass for $10. (Use comfort station #2)

We’d stay here again, but next time we’ll try out Custer State Park
