There’s nothing wrong with Seawall. It’s just not great.
The size of our trailer (31’11”) limited our choices of campsites and we were not able to find a suitable spot on the Bar Harbor side of Acadia. The “Quiet Side” of Acadia is a 40 minute drive away from the Cadillac Mountain Summit road and the famous shore line.
Our site (as most in C Loop) is a pull through with very little screening from neighbors on any side. The best part of the site is the old school stone fire pit with an open front that allows you to enjoy the fire completely.

All in all, we don’t spend much time at camp, so it was a perfectly good place to park the trailer while we explored Acadia. But next time, we’ll find something on the Bar Harbor side (even if we have to go private). BTW: I feel like I’ve failed if we have to stay at a KOA.

We stayed in Site number 15 in Campground #1.

Getting there: The area is densely forested and the drive in from VA 39 is beautiful, passing through equestrian farms and mountains. Cell phone coverage in this hilly countryside is spotty at best so expect to lose mobile-device gps navigation. Only approach the property from VA 39 on road #600 as road #603 (Robinson Gorge Road) is too narrow and low clearance for any RV or travel trailer. (The nav on our truck wanted us to use 603.)

Campground: many of the reservable sites have electricity and there are a few with water service as well. All are pretty open as the tall canopy does not allow dense undergrowth. Once we raised the cell antenna mast, we were able to get adequate LTE service on Verizon with a signal booster. (Important for me as I work on the road.) otherwise, there is the remains of a boat dock at the lake access in Campground #1 that will get 3G service. The bathroom was very clean, the showers were a little depressing, but serviceable nonetheless with very hot water. Noisy neighbors aren’t prompted after quite time... our neighbors were in loud debate over cards and politics past 1am on a few nights. The campground host and the consessioner didn’t seem to care.

Logistics: Stop for groceries before arrival. The nearest store is 30 minutes away in Hot Springs (and it’s lacking). Same for fuel. Firewood is $20 for 4 bundles which consisted of good sized, dry-ish, hard, slow burning material.

Easy to get to and easy to get in, We chose Twin Lakes State Park because it was available for a last minute booking and good cell service was reported. (I’m working from the road). The cell tower is right across the road.

The park is small, with the campground sandwiched between a calm lake and the road way (which at times can be noisy depending on the traffic). There’s a mix of sun and shade under a tall canopy of deciduous trees. The sites are wide open to each other and the lake; however, lightly buffered from M-26.

The sites appear to have been gravel pads at some point but, like the campground road’s asphalt, it’s now mostly gone. That said, what remains in the dirt is fairly level.

Firewood is $5.00/bundle ands had a lot of moisture, making it difficult to get a good flame. (Pick up wood on your way in.) We like the Michigan State Park fire ring design. The pit is elevated allowing good airflow. The double walls let’s you use the outside ring as a foot rest. Nice!

Myrtle Beach State Park is a unmolested strip of beachfront wild that is a welcome change from the endless strip of tee shirt shops and mini putt facilities.
The campsites are well shaded and there are a few on loop 6 that provide buffered space between the sites. The rest of the sites are fairly packed together and shallow. In June, the campground was busy with lots of golf cart and bicycle traffic. The park is fairly noisy, but gets appropriately quiet at “Quiet time”
The park staff are Southern friendly and we’re all very helpful.
Our site (147) was next to the Nature & Activity center, so we had great Wi-Fi reception. T-Mobile service was non-existent; however, AT&T & Verizon both had excellent speed test results (40/50 Mbps up and 15/18 Mbps down respectively).

We would return to the park, but not Myrtle Beach. #beentheredonethat

Graham’s Island State Park is very clean and has several camping loops, each providing very different experiences. The Ziebeck loop has big trees and is wide open between well-spaced sites. The Howard loop is very well treed and buffered from From neighboring sites. (This was our choice.) There is new loop behind the office but there are no trees at all. The primitive loop is really lovely for tents and tent campers.
We would have given five stars but we don’t fish and this park is all about the fishing with a large cleaning shack and busy boat ramp. And while there’s a playground for the kids, the “hiking” trail is a mowed path through the grass land. If you’re not into fishing, bring a book. We use this park primarily as an overnight stop and it suits that purpose perfectly.
Firewood is $4.00/bundle but it is the remains from a mill (wide and flat). Great for kindling if you break it down, but not great for building a long lasting fire.

Better than a wal-mart for sure. The facility is a bit run down and road way full of pot holes. But it suited our purpose perfectly. Easy access from the highway made this a good option for an overnight stop.

Beautifully maintained county park. If you’re staying for any length of time, you might have to move sites, but it’s worth it. Nice shower house and full hookups. When I stayed there, the trees had not yet grown in. The park can get a bit busy on the weekends, but the campground is well separated from the rest. I did not find the train/expressway bothersome although it is notable.

Right on the Florida-Georgia State line (and an easy 5 hours from South Florida). The park and campground are a 5-minute drive off I-95, providing easy access for an over night stop with electric & water service. (There are full service sites as well.)
The park is large and the campsites are open with partial shade. Our site, although waterfront, was a few hundred yards from the river itself. The place is clean and convenient, which is what we want for our first/last nights of a multi month road trip. This makes for a short day where we can decompress from packing and loading.

Lots of ants! Bring powder or a spray for any contact points with the ground.
Site 30 is not as treed as the others but you have the entire point to yourself.
It can get windy in the summer as the heat creates summer thunderstorms.
Good location near Augusta, GA. We avoid crossing Atlanta at all costs and this makes a good stop on our way to I-26

Broward County has very good camping.

Not as convenient to downtown and the beaches as some of the other parks, but all of the facilities are first rate.
