Our campsite was D16, no hookups, which is right across the campground road from the beach. While there's no privacy side to side and it's right by the playground it was quiet in September 2024. If you don't need hookups I highly recommend it for the view. The beach is super long and beautiful sand. The water is chilly yet swimable. There are beautiful walking and biking paths along the coast that pass through the campground. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are good.

This national park is located on Prince Edward Island, home to Green Gables, and with easy access to all areas of the island. The best sites are in section A, with ample spacing and foliage between sites. Section B is close to the ocean and site spacing is a little more cramped. Shower houses are continently spaced throughout the campground. Some of these are in better condition than others.
The sites are accommodating to no services for tents, to electric and water, as well as full hookup pull throughs for the big rigs. I found the staff friendly and helpful. There are a multitude of trails for walking, hiking, and biking.

This was our first experience exploring Prince Edward Island and Cavendish was a great Canadian NP experience camping in our 20' Airstream. We only made online reservations 24 hrs. prior to arrival and camped 2 nights at 2-way site (water, electric) and 3 nights at 3-way site (full hookups). Both sites offered shaded area, adequate foliage & trees for moderate privacy, picnic tables and fire ring. The sites were very well prepared between each use, restroom very clean and the laundry facilities onsite were well maintained and constantly cleaned by staff. Our only disappointment at Cavendish was that dogs are not allowed on the beach due to nesting endangered birds. Our pup really was disappointed as were we not being able to enjoy the beach together. Staff was extremely friendly, professional and added to our enjoyment here.
Wi-Fi was only available at nearby (approx. 1-2 miles from CG) visitor center which we used several times during our stay. Note: we visited summer of 2017 which Canada celebrating 150 yrs. and park entry fees were waived for all visitors.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cavendish. The beach sand is red! Very cool. There is a life guard area on the beach. We also could drive less than half an hour to explore other parts of the island. Charlottetown had free performances in an amphitheater by a group of young artists. There is a boardwalk with shops just outside the campground. Bike paths in and around the park. There are some small amusement parks nearby too.
We highly recommend Blue Mussel Cafe in North Rustico Harbour. We also enjoyed the restaurant at Delvay by the sea.
They have laundry facilities. The park has lots of families staying in tents and pop ups. It got quiet by 9 or 10pm each night.

Smaller campers and tents can stay in the open section right by the beach; larger RVs are back in the woods, in long, full-hook up pull throughs. We ran into trouble with the huge trees very close to the site and couldn't make the turn off the narrow road....rubbed up against a tree and had to unhitch and rehitch at just the right angle to get in. Our site said it was for up to 35 feet; we're 34, but a toy hauler, so a little wider than standard--if I had it to do over again I'd get a site that said it would accommodate 40 feet, and we would have been fine. Other than that, we loved the campground--big and busy, but very private sites. Short walk or bike ride to Cavendish Beach (plus a private beach at the campground) and on a bike path that will take you for miles along the shore (we rode out to North Rustico Harbour one day). Close to all the Cavendish tourist stuff. Fun evening campfire programs in season. Nice facilities--newer bathhouses and laundry.

Good location. Our site was about 100 yards from the beach. Beautiful sunsets but very windy most of all four days. It seemed a little crowded at times but that could be because we were close to the playground and the beach. Some good trails and the walk on the beach was wonderful.

The nice breeze off the Gulf helped with the mosquitos but repellent is a must. We stayed here in early Sept and so far, after traveling from Kentucky, up through Maine, it's been the only place there were any mosquito problems.
Our campsite in C Loop felt a little shabby compared to other campgrounds, there are very few trees between sites but there are shrubs mixed with tall grass and weeds between sites and enough separation that we didn't feel stacked on top of each other. Our picnic table needed replaced, it was rotting in the middle and patched with duct tape.
Not sure what the other loops are like.
Restrooms looked fairly standard, clean.
This campground is an easy walk to the Gulf of St Lawrence, we saw some people swimming. There are wonderful bike/walking trails along the coast but if it's a hot day, there's no shade so go early!
Beautiful area that capitalizes on the Anne of Green Gables books. Quite touristy and prices are reflective.

Been there, done that (got the tee shirt).
Cavendish is still recovering from deforestation as a result of Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Most the old growth trees are gone. The beach is nice and the facilities are clean, but PEI in general is a once and done kind of place (unless you’re an Anne of Green Gables fanatic). There’s not much hiking nor much wilderness on the island. The good news is there is plenty of mini golf and tee shirt shops to occupy you. (Cows Ice cream is excellent if you have a sweet tooth!).

This place is ginormous. There must be room for about 5000 people camp here. Yet, despite this there is a lot of privacy at the site. We were in a loop a with full hook ups and our site was very private despite your typical grid pattern. There are tall bushes with flowers between sites. We can't comment however on the other loops and the privacy associated with those sites.
The bathrooms were absolutely immaculate, possibly the best I've ever seen at a public campground. There were cedar planks on the ceilings to help with moisture and then floors were spotless. Nice shower heads with hoses.
There is a large room for washers and dryers but several of them were broken, but this didn't really affect the pace or wait time if you needed to use them.
The beach was really nice – watch out for jellyfish!
It rained both days we were here so I regret that I didn't get to experience it and all its beauty. But I would definitely come back.
