This is a nice park to stay in, even when it's full. Very nice bathhouse. The total lack of cell service was a big bummer though, and the limited WIFI at the Trading Post appears to only work when it's open.

Lots of great history up the road at Kings Mountain National Military Park. Every American should visit there. I learned a lot.

The campground itself is small and not suited for big rigs. Paved sites, but some are tight to get into. Very interesting museum, and a beautiful Anna Hyatt Huntington statue. Didn't go on trails this trip because it was very wet weather.

We stayed here while attending our grandson's baseball tournament nearby. This park is an oasis in the middle of the bustle of Myrtle Beach. Beach, pier, trails, and much more for families. The campground includes a store, laundromat, and numerous bathhouses, and almost all the sites are shaded. The sites in the back appear to be roomy, but the ones up front not so much, and the campground map doesn't accurately depict how much room each site has. We were up front in a full hookup site. Our site itself was of decent size, but it was crammed up against three others and had little privacy. We also had to look for our sewer hookup and then run an extension to reach it. Rain drained off and wasn't a problem.

The air traffic overhead didn't bother us at all. I actually enjoyed seeing the big planes, and they weren't loud. The beach was beautiful, and not crowded. Really nice pier.

By the way, I was very amused at previous reviews complaining of sandy sites. It's the beach, for goodness sake, and the ground is sandy in this part of the country!

Rate paid does not reflect discount. Electric only, but site was big and private with foliage all around. Since many sites don't have hook-ups, there were many tent campers. Lots of families were there. Huge, old-growth trees on nice trails. Campground is easy to get to, and within a short drive of historic New Bern as well as Morehead City and Beaufort. We could hear live firing in the distance at times from the Camp Lejeune Marine Base, but I actually liked it. It wasn't loud enough to be a bother at all. Music on the campsite behind us was more of a bother, but not too bad.

Really liked this campground, and it'll be on our list to visit again.

Price does not reflect discount. The only reason I didn't rate this one a 5 is because of lack of access to the river. I see no reason why it's taking the forest service so long to correct that. Electric-only site. No amenities except for nice trails, but if you want a shady, quiet stay with New Bern, Cherry Point, Morehead, and Beaufort only a short drive away, this is perfect. This was our second visit, and I really enjoy staying here.

Previous reviewers who said they blocked traffic to check in didn't realize that it's not necessary. You can go ahead to your site, then just call the host to let him know you're there.

Price reflects discount. Sites are roomy, shady, and surrounded by foliage which makes them private. Electric only, which is fine for us. It's a nice, relaxing place to stay while visiting the surrounding area. Historic New Bern, Havelock, Morehead City, and Beaufort aren't far away.

My only gripe here is having to open and close the gate every time we go in or out. Other than that, this is a favorite campground of ours.

Clean park used mostly by hikers and backpackers, but there is a small drive-in campground with only two electric sites. There are no other hookups. We really enjoyed our stay. Our shaded site was beside a babbling stream, with hiking trails beginning at the other end of the parking lot. Learned the hard way to believe the documentation that rates the difficulty of the trails. The hike to the waterfall was definitely strenuous. This park will be on our list to revisit. The only communications with the outside in this area were texts.

This county park has more amenities than the state parks! Full hookups, paved roads, level sites, clean bathhouses, WIFI, multiple playgrounds, and a beautiful lake. There is more that is seasonal. This has got to be a hard place to get into in the summer, especially since they have a whole section set aside for long-termers who appear to have permanent setups. I don't agree with allowing people to monopolize a relatively small campground Iike that, but I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Our grandson was in a big baseball tournament with many games at the Met, so this location was perfect for us. Since there's no shade and lots of pavement, we had to put up lots of reflective items in our windows to help keep our RV cool, but it was manageable. Didn't like the hookups being between campers so that every other rig either had to run them underneath or pull into the site in the opposite direction from the other camper. That resulted in the doors to two campers facing each other pretty close together, but the campground was more than half empty, so it wasn't a big deal. Not having showers available for a long stay like ours was a downside for sure.

We knew the negatives ahead of time, so we were prepared, and would stay here again if we were in the Hoover/Birmingham area.

Great trails through lovely wetlands. Full hookups in new RV campground. Level sites spaced well apart, but no shade. Beautiful views from the shoreline, but they're quite a distance from the RV campground. This is a great place to visit in cooler weather. The bugs, humidity, and temperature would be really bad in hot weather. We know since we used to live in the area.
