I’m surprised by the negative reviews. Although this park was somewhat out of the way, we thought it was quiet and enjoyable. We had a nice site with plenty of room. Most sites were taken but everyone was really nice, not loud or anything. We enjoyed walking around the park and seeing some cool wildlife. Not really any wifi at the sites, but sometimes that’s fine with us!

Great state park! Super pretty, clean. The Howard loop sites are huge, lots of trees and private. Maybe a little unlevel. There are great walking paths, a beach and fishing. Nice place!

The sites are huge, although the concrete pads are not. They let you park whatever way you want to maximize your experience. Although there are no hookups, the showers and bath houses were fine. We loved our time there. It’s quiet (when people aren’t running their generators), and wasn’t buggy for us. We were in site 92 and happy with it. We drove to Flamingo, 35 miles down the road, and there were tons of mosquitoes there. We were super happy we were at LPK.

It’s a beautiful area and rustic but decent CG. Sites are assigned to you, no choice. When we were there (mid July), there was no ranger or vendor presence. A list was posted for our site and we never saw an employee for the two nights. The sites were not maintained between guests at all. We didn’t use the bath or showers. We missed the feel of a national park campground. We were also disappointed that the visitors centers were closed. But the site was fairly quiet (minus generators) and it was the closest CG to the lake and the hikes, so happy we stayed there.

This was a nice state park with fantastic hiking nearby. Our site was along the back edge, and level, which we liked. It ended up being kind of a “buddy” site (we were 309, buddies with 308) in that our tables and fire rings were in a shared space. It worked fine, but we didn’t know that. The showers and bathhouse were cleaned regularly and there was cheap laundry.

The pros… beautiful mostly waterfront sites. A fair amount of space between, some better than others. A super clean and peaceful campground with laundry. We loved our site, 73, and our row. Although we walked the whole campground, and maybe other areas are a bit more spread out, we thought our row was the best location.
The cons… our row gets pretty windy if there is wind, which did, at times, affect sitting outside and having a fire. Some driveways have a steep decline, although the spots look level. We thought if we ended up with some, we might have bottomed out. Also some sites are buddy sites with back to back hookups.
Pro/con depending… the campground is about 25-30 minutes from anywhere. So if you need groceries, or wanna go do something other than just enjoy the lake, fish and chill, it’s a haul.
Overall, we loved it and would definitely stay again.

An old school typical Florida state park. It is located in the middle of an urban area, yet feels really remote. It is older, but the bath houses are immaculate, the showers are hot and have great water pressure and it’s apparent the volunteers and camp hosts take great pride in keeping it that way. There are daily activities (which we did not do), and several trails right from the campground that we hiked. The beaches, stores and crowds are all nearby if you want that stuff.

We loved our stay here. A pretty typical NP campground. Nice wooded sites, fairly spaced. We had a pull through, there were lots of both, in all different sizes and shapes. Some spots were definitely better than others. Ours was tricky to get into (a pretty big curve on the driveway), but once we set up it was great. We didn’t use the bath house, but did do laundry at the camp store, which was nice. The location of the campground is close to all the nearby hiking and cave tours, but away from the crowds. Town is quite a ways away, so we were happy to be up in the park.
We had no T-mobile at all, but our Verizon hot spot worked.

Loved our time here! We had a site on the boat channel and it was great. We saw dolphins and so many birds from our site. We kayaked with manatees. We walked on the beach and the few trails. We faced the sunrise each morning. The bathrooms were dated, but clean, and the laundry was useful. My only complaint was that I found the reservation system to be super hard to navigate and use. And yeah, the roads were dusty. But well worth it!

Nice state park off the beaten path. We stayed in the north loop. The electric and water were not conveniently placed, but we made it work and still faced inward to a nice big site. The campground was empty when we got there, but filled quickly with locals for Friday thru Sunday and was empty again by Sunday night. The showers were cleaned often. The hiking around the park was great! The trails were maintained and nice. Also did a scenic “back way” over by the Pembina Gorge that we loved.
