We spent a week here exploring the area. So much to do and so gorgeous. The campground is centrally located and the owners were so nice and helpful with anything we needed regarding tips or maps for the area. The campground is FHU and although there were a few funky things with the layout, they are working on that and nothing was unworkable. Our site was spacious and wooded, which we loved. We used the laundry, which was nice, clean and easy. We didn’t use the bathrooms. Overall, we loved our time there and would return for sure.

What a gem off the beaten path. We were looking for a place to explore central Maine. We loved this place! The location was great for several really great hikes and drives (don’t miss Borestone Mtn). The drive getting there was fine. The sites are huge and wooded. We were there for one night that they had a little Halloween thing, decorated sites and costumes and the place was packed and fun. Then everyone left on Sunday and we practically had the place to ourselves. It was quiet, and beautiful and we would definitely recommend. We stayed in F-18, a full hookup back in site near the laundry. Great site.

This is all about location. The sites themselves are tight and no view. But the park is pretty. We were there when the weather wasn’t good, so we missed out on boat tours and snorkeling, but still enjoyed the park and the views.

We spent four nights here so we could visit Ricketts Glen State Park. Although it’s about 30 minutes away, it’s a nice drive and the best place in the area. We really enjoyed the park. It was clean, quiet and had nice wooded sites. Although there are seasonal places there, the sites are kept immaculate and everyone was super nice. There are lots of country roads to walk nearby. There are not a lot of stores or restaurants, it’s pretty rural, which was perfect for us. We did not use the pool or bathrooms, but did use the laundry. There was only one w/d but we never had to wait and it was really inexpensive in comparison. Overall, a total win.

A nice state park woodsy feel for sure. Our site was quite sandy and a bit unlevel after some rain, but it worked. The road getting to our particular site was a bit rough too, but again, we made it fine. We were able to walk from our site on some nearby trails and explore around the park. A fun few days.

Although we agree with the other reviews, this park needs some updating, we enjoyed our time here. The location can’t be beat for exploring this part of the bourbon trail. Our site, #22, worked for us. We did see that some sites had funky and inconvenient water and electric hookups. But the website is good on that, look closely. The park was pretty empty and there wasn’t much presence of a camp host, even though one appeared to be there. And our fire pit had a bunch of trash and glass in it (why are we seeing that so often these days?!?). We would stay here again if in the area.

A quirky little place. Probably more of a 3.5. The positive is that the sites, especially around the outside loop, are spaced nicely and private. It’s not a bad drive to Crystal River or Ocala. The bathroom, although not particularly convenient to the sites, is newly remodeled. And there are biking and hiking trails right at the campground. However the layout is somewhat funky and the road noise is bad. I suggest a site as far from the road as possible, 3 seemed like the best site to me. Some sites are fairly unlevel. Also, this is now a Florida state park, but you wouldn’t know it. Seems a bit of an identity crisis between the state park, state forest and greenway that goes by here.

The last review was spot on and detailed. This was a really nice small park with some full hookup sites (which were much needed in the heat while we were there). The sites were large and level. It was very quiet during the week with only a few spots taken. We didn’t use the bathhouse. The lake has fishing, swimming and a 4 mile hike around it, which was nice but a little too buggy for us. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here.

What a little gem of a place. Yes, there are only 7 spots, and yes, you are in a parking lot, and yes, you are fairly close together...but, worth it! The location is perfect for exploring the area, the view across the street is spectacular and there are full hookups in what feels very much like a self run campground. It helped that we had great neighbors and gorgeous fall colors, but would definitely stay here again. We were here M-F and the parking lot was never close to full during the day and completely quiet at night. Hike Bald Mountain for sunset for sure!

What’s not to love about a state park on the beach with full hookups and laundry? The campground is not actually on the beach, but a very short walk. The beach is beautiful and quiet this time of year. Amazing sunrise! The spots seem hit and miss. We were super happy with our setup and location, but we did have to use blocks to get level. (Thanks to a prior review that had all the best sites listed!) The space was fairly private and spacious. The laundry room was an added bonus. We stayed away from town, but a great grocery store right across the street. After seeing the mega RV resorts nearby, we were super happy with our choice!
