This is a quiet state park that takes some effort to get to. Worth it for us! It is a horse campground, although we don’t have horses. It was still fun to see them. Hiking right there from the campground, clean showers that cost a few quarters and for us, a gorgeous canyon view. We were in site 9, which was great. When someone was in 10 for a couple of the nights it was a little tight, but the sites are very long and kind of a free for all on the grass so it depends how you situate yourself. Only negative was ticks, so be aware and prepared.

What a little gem of a place. Yes, there are only 7 spots, and yes, you are in a parking lot, and yes, you are fairly close together...but, worth it! The location is perfect for exploring the area, the view across the street is spectacular and there are full hookups in what feels very much like a self run campground. It helped that we had great neighbors and gorgeous fall colors, but would definitely stay here again. We were here M-F and the parking lot was never close to full during the day and completely quiet at night. Hike Bald Mountain for sunset for sure!

We wanted to visit the Grand Canyon of PA and looked at several choices in the area. Given the heat, we chose this state park because we were able to get a full hookup site. The campground was nice, well taken care of. We loved the location of our site (47), but it was frustratingly not level. Didn’t use the bathrooms or showers. We did drive thru the other state parks nearby (Colton Point and Leonard Harrison). CP was beautiful but rustic and probably would be best for small RVs or tents. LH had some nice sites with electric, but it wasn’t as woodsy and private it seems as where we were. Would stay again for sure. The hike around the lake was a nice 3 mile walk too. Overall, really glad we chose this park.

An old school typical Florida state park. It is located in the middle of an urban area, yet feels really remote. It is older, but the bath houses are immaculate, the showers are hot and have great water pressure and it’s apparent the volunteers and camp hosts take great pride in keeping it that way. There are daily activities (which we did not do), and several trails right from the campground that we hiked. The beaches, stores and crowds are all nearby if you want that stuff.

We enjoyed our three nights here. The campground is well maintained and the sites are big and far apart, at least where we were. It’s fairly open, not private, but well spaced. Loved the walking path around the area. If you aren’t a boater in the nearby lake, not a ton to do (which we were looking for when there). Didn’t use the showers or bathrooms, but they looked pretty new. Tons of locals and some big groups, but it was a holiday week. And overall, still pretty quiet.

A nice state park woodsy feel for sure. Our site was quite sandy and a bit unlevel after some rain, but it worked. The road getting to our particular site was a bit rough too, but again, we made it fine. We were able to walk from our site on some nearby trails and explore around the park. A fun few days.

A beautiful small state park. Around 30th sites, well spaced, gravel and appear to be level. Ours was. The trails were nice and lots of access to the river. We also did laundry, cheapest around! (.75 to wash and .75 to dry!). Overall, a great park.

This was a great campground. We stayed in the A loop, and although the B loop is closer to the water, we were super happy with our site #2. It was spacious, quiet and a gorgeous setting. There are some nice short hiking paths at the park. We also rented a kayak one day and drove around the lake another. Beautiful area.

We have such mixed feelings about this place. When we arrived, we were graciously greeted by Barry (I think?), who took us to our site in the wooded area. He helped us out with propane and wood and was super nice. Our site was private, not big, and not nearly as overgrown as others. It was “fine,” not quite the west Glacier koa we came from as others said. We walked the campground and were very happy to be located where we were, and not in the outer big rig lot where there were no trees, but what looked like plants of permanent residents. On a positive note, there was a walking trail to the Walmart. We liked the state parks we visited and were happy we stopped by the city. We would stay again if in the area, but it isn’t anything to rave about.
