This campground is now completely open. When we arrived they had the front loop, with 7 campsites, closed due to problems with a bear. This loop opened during our stay. The sites are a bit small and not very level, but there were multiple sites that could have accomodated our 25' trailer. Interestingly, the bathrooms are flush but there is no water available here.

The border crossing just south of here is closed due to low volume and that makes for using the road as a nice trail to walk to the border and back. (7 miles roundtrip)

Lots of wildlife, foxes, bears, moose. We didn't see the bear, but saw the foxes and moose. The first night a fox tried to drag off one of my boots and on the last night at 4am two juveniles were playing in the campsite running around and tugging on our camping mat. it was cute to watch them.

No T-Mobile coverage, but our Starlink worked great. 100mbps down and 25 up.

This place is an absolute gem. Sites 1 and 2 are very private with 1 being enormous. Sites 3 and 4 are less private, yet very large. Don't listen to Google, you must come in from the north to get here. The sites are all level and have corrals for horses, though you are not required to have a horse to camp here. Lots of horse trails which are okay for hiking, just some loose sand in portions of the trail. Site 1 was best for solar and starlink, though we also had a decent T-Mobile connection. There are two clean porta-potties and no potable water.

I tried to stop here a couple of days ago. It is a couple of miles down a washboard dirt road. It was raining very hard when we arrived at about 1;30 pm. The camp was totally empty. I was met by an employee who told me I could stay, but I needed to pay 170 pesos per person per day and the trailer was another 100 pesos. I thought fine, 440 pesos for one night. A bit pricey, but ok. Then he said since we were spending the night we would have to pay another 170 pesos apiece for the next day. I asked what time we needed to leave in order to avoid the extra day charge and he said they open at 9 am. I said fine, I will leave at 8. He then said we still need to pay for the extra day because we would be there after midnight. So it would have been 780 pesos for one night of sitting in the trailer in the rain. I told him no thank you and we went to a truck stop and spent the night in the rain for free.

U am a Mexican citizen and speak the language, so there were no communication issues. This camp is priimarily a day use place and they can accomodate RVs. The grounds looked very nice and would probably bee a decent place to stay, but not at this price for me.

We loved our time here. The rocks are stunning an it is almost like watching clouds finding animals and faces in the rocks. The sites are fairly level, be sure you have levelling blocks to drive up on. We had no problem with our 25' trailer navigating the road. We actually walked the road to the west for 2 miles and I could have easily taken the trailer to any of the sites. There were a number of longer term campers than us, but also a fair amount of daily turnover. There are about 17 sites here and over the weekend there were still a couple of sites available.

I would not recommend using this location as a base for visiting Chiricahua National Monument as it is an hour drive each way. For Bowie National Historic Site is only about 10 miles away and is a must visit spot, lots of history.

Had weak T-Mobile service, but great solar and Starlink. Many of the sites are close to the rocks which makes the sun set earlier

Loved it here.

This is a beautiful and clean dispersed camping area. The road coming in has a few potholes, but nothing serious. There are literally hundreds of spots here. However, during our stay there were many dozens of off-road vehicles. It is a great area for them and there are a few races that use this area as well. Just be forewarned that depending on the time of year you may run into this and generators running all night long.

Having said that, I would gladly return here at a different time of the year, we were here right after Christmas, as it is a great spot and close to Parker for groceries, laundry, etc. My advice for finding a good spot is go farther down the road as in my opinion the sites improve the farther you go. We had zero T-Mobile signal, but great Starlink speeds.

Beautiful boondocking area. Last time we came to this area we stayed at Cinguita, about 5 miles north of here. Here on Road Canyon, there are 4 sites, we were in the third site, which is the largest of the 4. Site was nice and level, and we were able to hike up the wash to the west and on another day we hiked up the road to the north. Beautiful views of the mountains to the west and lots of coyotes hooping and hollering. Wonderful place to enjoy the peace and quiet. There are a few individual sites south of this road along the main road coming in from Hwy 82. As a sign states coming in, this is a working ranch and there are some cattle roaming the area.

There are some other boondocking spots nearby, but on the Road Canyon Road itself, there are only 4 spots. We were in the third, and largest spot. All of the spots are nice and level, but are very muddy during a heavy rain. Beautiful views and very close the wine district of Elgin. No established hiking trails, but we hiked up to the west going up the wash on the south side of Road Canyon and enjoyed the nice easy hike.

Slow, but useable T-Mobile signal, great for solar and Starlink.

This campground is in a beautiful setting. The sites seem adequately sized, but very close together. Some sites share a power pedestal which contains a 30 amp and a 50 amp connection. My neighbor arrived before me sot the 30 amp connection was in use, I needed a 50 amp to 30 amp dogbone to connect. So if you are 30 amp in one of these sites, ensure you have a dogbone. If not, they are for sale in the camp store. Site 21 appears to be the only site on a concrete pad and sits right on the river bank. I think it is probably the best site in the park. Some good hiking nearby and Camp Nelson National Memorial is not to be missed. As mentioned before, two bathhouses, a pool, camp store and very nice staff. The laundry room has 10 brand new all in one washer/dryers. If you try to dry camp, be aware during the fall/winter there is not alot of sunlight here due to the tall palisades on the south side. Lots of birds to watch, particularly the turkey and black vultures cruising the cliffs. If you are sensitive to noise, you may be bothered by the highway bridge just east of the park. You can hear the vehicles cross, but it wasn't a problem for us.

This was probably a hopping area in years past. Now it just looks dated and tired. Mostly occupied with long-term trailers many of which are quite run down which gives it a bit of junky feel. Never felt unsafe though, everyone seemed nice.

I had good Starlink connection here, though with some sites the trees would be a problem.

If it was my only option, I would stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

The price of $6 a night includes the surcharge for making the reservations online and reflects the $10 a night discount we get with our Annual Camping Pass. The sites here are all level and very large. It is the desert, so there is limited vegetation between sites, though we never felt we lacked privacy. As mentioned in previous reviews, the dump station is closed as are the bathrooms and showers. While we were here, the park was never half full and there are alot of camp hosts for the few visitors. It just seemed to be a strange ratio to me. Lots of history here and this park is unique in that it has a very nice musem with extremely friendly volunteers. We also walked to the Frontera Sculpture Oasis, just to the west about a mile and to the Shrine to the Perfect Man which is NW of the campground about 3/4 of a mile. They were both interesting to see, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. We also went across the border to Puerto Paloma. It is a typical small border town that was absolutely dead. We lived in Mexico for 14 years and were disappointed in this town.

Great spot for solar and Starlink.

Nice NF Campground. Our site was level and most of the others were too, though there are a few that weren't. Lots of trees, so not a good place for solar when there are lots of clouds. Interestingly I was able to find a spot where Starlink worked which was nice as there was no T-Mobile coverage in our campsite. Great trail system in the area and the town of Paisly is a short, 2 mile hike where we had a good pizza. We were near the bathroom and tent campers across from us used our campsite as a thoroughfare to go to the bathroom instead of using the paths. Fortunately they left after our first day.
