A pretty campground surrounded by tall pines and young live oaks with a palmetto understory. Some leaf litter and ticks. No electricity. Facilities include a portapotty with a poo mountain, a water pump with non-potable water and garbage bins.

Entrance to the campground is down a wide flat gravel road that has extensive washerboard - slow going for an RV but entirely passable. Only 4 official sites, if there are no sites available, Bennett Campground is farther south down the same road and has 6 sites. Great location a short 20 minute drive to Daytona Beach or Ormond Beach.

Currently you must call to book your site on the day of arrival and pay by cash or check at the iron ranger pay station in the pay envelope. Office opens at 7am and you can call even before you arrive. This may be changing as they said on the phone that they are working on setting up an online reservation system.

Site 1 has the best exposure for sun/solar, the others are more shady, though 4 is next best. Upon arrival, site 1 was empty but when we called, we found out it had already been booked. Site 2 was supposed to be available but there was a motorhome parked there the office didn't know about. A truck camper pulled in and parked overnight in the open area that was not an official site. I assume rangers do come in to check on things - I passed one on the road in but never saw one at the campground during our stay. We were able to extend our stay twice by calling in the morning and simply asking and then putting another $10 in the post.

Lovely dirt/grass road leads east from the campground great for cycling or hiking. I saw white-tailed deer and a gopher tortoise. Mostly quiet except for some generator noise from neighboring campers. Huge spacious area for equestrian activities plus multiple horse pens including a good size round pen.

Margot Bai's review below is pretty on point re: this campground (Kudos Margot!)

Boondocking site.

We called the camp manager as we were driving towards the campground, and he informed us that there should be space available - a group of equestrians had just left from a weekend of cowboy type activities (assumption). He had us call him back after we arrived and parked, gave us a permit #, and asked us to dump some $$ into the self-pay station.

To access the campground you must drive down 2 miles of dusty, semi-washboard, wide road. Don't be a fool (like me) and thoroughly wash your rig the day before planning to arrive at this campground.

We pulled in and chose site #1 for its access to full sunshine on those solar panels- we haven't had to run the generator at all since arriving (thanks Florida!) There is a slight aroma of horse manure, but it is not overbearing. Also, nature. The site is big and pretty level. There is a picnic table, fire-ring, and a few horse pens in case you are traveling with your trusty steed. Also, site #1 is a pull through site if you want to make it that.

The rest of the site are adorable and much more private - although we have been the only campers here since arrival anyways. We're here for a Sunday-Friday stay, so can't speak for what type of crowd the weekend draws in. We have had some horse riding friends some through for a ride though.

The running/walking out here is amazing. Endless roads to trot yourself (or your steed) down for hours.

There is a porta-john and non-potable water available.

A 20 minute drive to Ormand Beach where all of your modern needs can be met (i.e. Starbucks).

We've got 9 down & 3 up for Verizon and 7 down & 3 up for AT&T on hotspots without boosters.

First a story: We went the wrong way--entering from 92 onto Indian Lake Rd. We followed GPS directions to the local correctional institution where a very kindly deputy escorted us back to the correct path. He said he didn't recommend the facilities for overnight. Anyway, we took Indian Lake Rd to Rima Ridge Rd and took several miles to get to the Tram Road campground. Highly recommend entering from Hwy 40 rather than Hwy 92 to get to Tram Rd. Lots of other Tiger Bay recreation areas along 92 so we didn't pay as close attention as we should.
That said, if you want a secluded stay--only three other campsites here--then you will find it here. With our signal booster, we have strong internet access and can spend the weekend in peace and quiet.

Great location. Close to highway, although the sandy road in was bumpy and in need of grading it was still not bad for our truck and 30' trailer. Equestrian sites are huge and far apart. (Our site was #1) Very private and quiet. Only downside was a group of adults were living in a small tent on our site when we arrived at 5:30pm. They had been there awhile and it took them a couple hours to get their stuff together and leave. Not a problem and they were friendly.

We loved our spot here, very basic and primitive but clean and well taken care of. The one thing I will reiterate is do not follow google maps here, it brings you on from the wrong side. But the correct directions are clearly communicated on you on the reservation if you pay attention. So come in from Hwy 40 and you are golden. Little bumpy but totally doable. They had trash, port a potties, picnic tables, 2 bars of verizon service and the sites are ENORMOUS. Very happy! Would definitely come back.

This place is an absolute gem. Sites 1 and 2 are very private with 1 being enormous. Sites 3 and 4 are less private, yet very large. Don't listen to Google, you must come in from the north to get here. The sites are all level and have corrals for horses, though you are not required to have a horse to camp here. Lots of horse trails which are okay for hiking, just some loose sand in portions of the trail. Site 1 was best for solar and starlink, though we also had a decent T-Mobile connection. There are two clean porta-potties and no potable water.
