Right in Whitehorse, this campground has walk-in campsites for tenters. They have a large gravel parking area surrounded by trees next to the highway where they will allow smaller RVs to stay. Some highway noise for sure there - likely less so for some of the tenting sites.

Clean showers open to anyone even day visitors for $1 for 3 minutes - good hot water when I was there!

Proprietor was very friendly and welcoming. Tenting sites are pretty in the forest and adjacent to the Millenium trail, a 5 km loop trail around the Yukon River with 2 bridges. Easy walking or cycling distance to Whitehorse along the trail.

Bell Canada works here.

I stayed here on a Saturday night in early April. The day use area has a spacious grassy area with trees along the river. There are picnic tables, covered pavillions and a swinging chair overlooking the river. There is also the fort itself, which mostly consists of earth mounds with pathways along the top and below with various rooms and structures built into the earth. There is also a building on the fort grounds that is the historic army headquarters - I didn't go in as I had my dog with me. Noseeums and flying bugs were annoying so we had to keep moving and swatting. There is a small museum inside the main office building detailing the military history of the fort.

The campground area is quite spacious, wooded but not densely so you can see all the other campsites. However, the sites are huge and well-spaced and even on a Saturday night, it was quiet. I walked in the morning around the campground - there is a dock on the river in the campground. Comfort station was older but quite passable with a tiled shower and the cleaning staff were on duty.

I arrived without a reservation and signs said the campground was full. My plan was to visit on a day pass and overnight at the nearby Publix if there were no sites available. I asked if there were any sites when I arrived and again in the early evening when they checked on me in the day use parking area and both times was told no. Then, just at dusk, they came back to me with a walk-in site available. Since the office was already closed, I was to pay in the morning by 10am.

The instructions were to drive around the campground and pick any empty site that didn't have a tag on the post. I found site 12 available and pulled in for the night. At 7:50am, rangers were outside my rig recording my license plate since I was a walk-in - it was indicated on the paperwork that they do this so I was not surprised. As I was packing up, more staff came by on a golf cart to let me know I had actually camped in the driveway of site 12: the actual site was farther in. I was surprised - the site is really huge and I didn't even realize in the morning I wasn't actually in the main area of the site until they pointed it out.

I paid on my way out - it was an expensive night as you have to pay a $5 per family per visit day use fee on top of the $32 per night camping fee, taxes included. For a one night stay, that makes $37 which is a bit much. Great signal on my T-Mobile plan without the booster.

Only accessible in the westbound direction, about 15 minutes past the town of Brooks, there is a rest area with a free public sanidump station. Note the sign for the rest area on the highway 2 km before did NOT have a sanidump sign, but it is there.

You can approach the dump from two directions but drainage is better if you drive up to the dump with your nose toward the highway.

There is a water tap but sign says unfit for human consumption.

A 2 km gravel road in good condition leads from the paved main road through cattle grazing lands to a rodeo ground. Located on the Red Deer River, there is a huge open field you can camp in. Additional sites in a treed area would be suitable for small campers or tenters only. There is also an open area by the river.

There are 2 pit toilets as well and the campground is separated from the cattle grazing area by a texas gate (cattle gate).

Rodeo grounds include an outdoor area, pens and some bleachers. There are other fenced buildings adjacent - unsure what they are for.

There is good cell signal on the road in and out of the valley on the high ground but the signal does not reach into the valley where the campground is located. However, it is possible that with a cell booster it might.

This is a remote area. However, there is a convenience store with basic groceries, gas and propane just 10 minutes south in the hamlet of Jenner. Also, it is a 45 minute drive (70km) to Dinosaur Provincial Park.

A beautiful, quiet free camp. I did not stay here - I just stopped in to check it out.

This dump is easily accessible to any size rig and provided free by the town of Osoyoos. The town website says that it is only open May to Oct but it was open and accessible in April 2018. It is located directly adjacent to the street and there is no gate.

Also has water supply with a sign that says Potable Water but the spigot is right next to the dump which is a bit of a sanitation issue. If you fill here, be careful not to contaminate your hose.

This beautiful free campground is full of gorgeous huge cottonwood trees. There are a couple spots where you can get some sunshine for your solar panels but mostly it is a shady area. Good gravel access drive and decent gravel road in the camp make for decent access even if it is rainy. It is accessible to big rigs as long as it is not too busy.

You can't camp on the river but you can walk there and also along a trail that runs parallel to the river. Great spot for bird watching with owls, magpies, cedar waxwings, warblers and more.

There is decent cell service in the campground even without a booster on the Rogers network only. I needed my booster when I was inside my camper but signal was fine outside.

You can float down the Red Deer river from here about 12 km to Dinosaur Provincial Park. Water level may be lower at certain times of year - June is probably the best time.

While the distance to Dinosaur PP is only 11 km as the crow flies, driving there involves a circuitous route around the badlands - takes about 30 mins to go the 34 km.

Some road noise is heard throughout the camp - it is not a huge area though the noise is less if you go farther back. The adjacent road is paved and loud trucks do use it though it is not terribly busy.

I really enjoyed this camp. The wind blowing through the cottonwood trees made a lovely soothing sound and the bird life was fun to watch. Plus being so close to Dinosaur PP made this a great boondock location for daytripping to the park.

Pretty but small campground about a mile off the highway on the other side of a small lake. You can't see the highway but it is close enough that you can hear the traffic. Sites are pretty tight and there is a short, steep gravel hill to negotiate with a small turn around area at the bottom and a sharp turn to get to the lake. Definitely not suitable for big rigs and 4wd needed to pull a small camper or boat back up that hill.

Rare to have lakeside camping in this area for only $22. Other lakeside camps along the David Thompson Highway like Fish Lake and Goldeye are charging more.

Good cell signal here on the Rogers network. There is a cell tower in the town of Nordegg that covers as far as the north end of Abraham Lake up to Windy Point.

Free sanidump at the campground. Located before the campground entrance, no pay station, no signs that non-campers must pay or may not use. Potable water fill too.

Only thing is, this location is really out of the way so you probably wouldn't bring your whole rig here unless you were camping in the campground.

Coin operated showers and laundry at the campground open to anyone.

We stayed 2 nights. We chose not to hook up to their electric since we have solar panels and could park in a quieter corner of the lot away from other vehicles. We signed up for the players card and registered our stay and got a paper to put in the windshield. We got $5 in free play money but no coupons for their restaurants which were expensive. Security guards were friendly, cycling around and checking in on us a couple times a day. There was some confusion as apparently we weren't on their list the second day but we had the permit so it was fine. They also asked us to move to a hook up spot the second day but we asked if we could stay where we were as it was a lot of trouble to move and they said okay. Not many transport trucks in this parking lot unlike Miccosukee Casino so much quieter. Surrounding grassy areas allow dog walking. We day tripped into Naples while we stayed there. Good wifi in the casino and accessible from an outside bench at the back entrance. This casino had more non-smoking areas so it wasn't as smoky inside as some other casinos.

A good-size, level gravel parking lot sits across from the stunning Scenic High Falls with no signs prohibiting overnight parking. We stayed in our travel trailer while other campers pitched a tent on the grass next to their vehicle. Located a 3 km drive down a gravel road off Hwy 17, 2 km south of Wawa Ontario, the access road was quite passable despite multiple large puddles to drive through. It seems the Town supports this usage as they have supplied pit toilets in good repair and even a single, bear-proof garbage bin. The falls provides a constant white noise in the background which provides some sound privacy from other campers.

This is a popular day use area with visitors coming and going throughout our stay on a lovely warm weekend in September, 2017. A large covered picnic area on a cement pad has 6 picnic tables directly across from the falls. A short hiking trail leads up the east side of the falls where you can get a close-up view from the top. There are also multiple interpretive signs about the area’s logging and artistic history. A freshwater stream runs down the hillside 60 feet east of the toilets.Unsure if it is potable but it looked and smelled clean – we used it to wash our fresh fruits and veggies we purchased at the Valumart in Wawa.

The area is spacious enough to accommodate large RVs in the gravel parking lot and multiple tents on the grass. Not sure how busy it gets in summer however there is an overflow parking area for buses and large RVs. There is also a boat launch where you potentially go swimming. Note there is also a free 24/7 dump station in the town of Wawa at Young’s General Store.
