We got a full site for 10 days and with nm park pass only $8 a night. All gravel sites and roads thru campground, with sites of all shapes, sizes and various hook ups. We liked this park for the wildlife viewing....deer, elk, and several birds to watch. The park rangers were knowledgable and very friendly. However, the lake level is low and there are restrictions on boating, so check on those before coming with your boat.
Restroom looked clean and well maintained, but we didn't use them much with fhu at site. There is a dump station as well. Camp hosts arrived 3 days before we left, they seemed very nice and eager to start their new assignment.

We loved our stay here. Sites are generous in size, all have covered table, fire ring and tent pad along with rv site. Some have electric (30 amp) and water, some are pull thru and all give you a sense of some seclusion. There are restrooms and showers that are clean with hot water. There is a double dump station but beware of the water hose, the connection leaks.....a lot.
This park has several hikes into the desert that gave us opportunities for great pictures. There is a guided tour to the pictographs which are in the canyon. Really nice! The park is close to Del Rio, Amistad Reservoir and the Rio Grande-Pecos rivers. Cell service was on the weak side, but useable. This is s a great park for either a day or 2, or a longer stay. We will stay again!
Reminder that Texas state parks charge a daily entrance fee, buy a state park pass and it will save you money.

Original reservations was 10 days, but we enjoyed our stay so much, we decided to extend it to the max 14 days. Large pull thru with 50amp and water with a dump station on the way out. The campground is located on a small creek that has access to Black Warrior River. Many take advantage of quiet fishing on the creek via the boat ramp, while jet skis and fast boats stay on the main river. The river is also used for barge transportation, which can be seen from the campground. Very clean restroom/shower building.
All the park hosts were great, very friendly and helpful.

if you are over 62, LA state parks have a 50% discount on camping, but you have to ask for it when you check in. There are no FHU's but we had a nice pull thru site with elect and water. The lake is a great fishing destination and there are floating piers several places in the campground. You are required to having fishing license, but it can be either LA or TX.
We stayed in early Feb, only the weekend was busy, during the week was very quiet, so reservations a must for weekends and probably spring/summer months.
WIFI was good until the park got busy, then slowed down to a crawl 1 sunday morning, but it was expected. ATT cell service was iffy at best.
Sites are nice size, can fit almost any size rig, and not piled on top of each other. They are paved, some leveling may be required, but definitely doable. Restrooms/Showers are great and clean. There is even laundry at reasonable $.
Campground hosts were great, informative and helpful.
The only issue is they have to fix the roads in the park, badly damaged and needs repair, so drive slow and careful.

This is a nice state park, good location to Denver, Rocky Mountain NP and up/down I-25/I-70.
The park has several ponds for fishing and bird watching, the geese are everywhere. Our site was pull thru, FHU's, level and clean. We did not use any restroom or dump station facility. Many reviews complain about hwy noise from I-25, I didn't have any issue even sitting outside with friends for an afternoon BBQ. My only complaint, if that, is the lack of shade in the park. The picnic tables are covered which was nice, but no trees to shade the rest of the site.

I was a little disappointed in this park. The sites are nice, electric and water, covered table, grill and enough space. But the restroom was a mess. The sign says closed for cleaning daily for 1hr, not happening. Also, there was no hot water to take a shower. I had heard it was at least warm so I went, not warm at all, cold! And the water in the sinks don't work, either. And don't let the name fool you, if there is swimming access in the park, I couldn't find it. All I found was Rocky shoreline when I hiked down to the water. I have a NM parks pass, which saved a lot of money, just hope this is not indicative of the parks system.

Lake Ouachita is a great place with lots to do. We stayed at Tompkins Bend campground for 6 nights and would have stayed longer, but had to get home. No reservations taken this time of the year, but plenty of sites to set up for all sizes of RVs or tent campers, though some are a little tight to maneuver. The sites are mostly level with either gravel or paved pads. Many have water/electric hook ups and there is a dump station in the campground. Each loop has heated restrooms and hot showers available. There are picnic tables, BBQ grill and fire ring located at most ,if not all, sites. There is a great hiking trail, Lake Ouachita Vista trail which spans most of the southern part of the lake and hits all the campgrounds. With lake views, wildlife and forest, it is a nice hike and relatively easy, at least around this campground. With national parks pass the fee is 50% off, so we paid $11per night and there is a 14 day limit. It is only 30 miles from Hot Springs and within a couple of hours of other state parks and national Forest lands.

This is a nice COE park on Lake Somerville just north of Brenham, Tx. We were there for 2 weeks during spring break and it was still a great place to stay. The park has been hit with 2 major flooding events in the last 4 years so they are still working on issues. Both boat ramps are closed along with half the park, not sure if it is flood related or seasonal. There is a boat ramp on the other side of the lake and saw a few boats tied up along our shoreline.
Though the restrooms are kept clean, we were disappointed to see that even on the very chilly days, the heaters we're not on and the plastic is torn off all the screens, so it made for some chilly wind hitting you along with the hot water.
There is a nice deer population and they were fun to watch.
We will stay here again if we are in the area. We have a senior pass which gets us 50% discount on our camping cost.

We stayed at Potter's Creek the week of Thanksgiving. This time of the year there are only 2 camping loops open, 1 &4. #1 is 1st come and #4 is reserveable. We were in #4 and it was practically full and other loop almost empty. Sites are paved, good size with covered picnic table, grill and fire ring. There is also restrooms and hot showers in each loop along with trash dumpster. Both loops have 2sided dump station available. There is plenty of wildlife to watch and photograph. The interesting part of the campground is the curfew, if you are not in the park by 10pm, you have to wait until 8am when the gate opens. Just be aware of that when out visiting the area. This is about an hour north of San Antonio and in the hill country of Texas.

This was just a couple of days between 2 places, didn't expect much when driving down, but was pleased when we got settled. Spaces are well laid out with plenty of room, easy to get into and relatively level. There is easy access to the water from most spots and fishing was good, so we heard. And then there is the wildlife....we saw at least 6 bucks, 4 spikes and too many does to count. Birds galore, several different species with lots of color and personality. There are 2 loops for RV's with w/e (50amp), covered picnic tables and room for slides and awnings. There is also a tent only area, shelter area and lots of opportunity for day use picnic and fishing. There are several nature trails to walk and explore.
There are a number of restroom buildings throughout the park, the one i know of is the rv loop and it has showers. The facilities are a little older but are clean and functional with plenty of hot water for showers.
We had a great time and will add this to our list of winter camping.
