Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on May 17, 2023I had hoped for this place. Sites are well spaced with pleasant views, even though the lake is way down. However, in the evening/night, you can smell the refineries. It is AWFUL. It woke me up it was so bad. Too bad, cause it could be lovely but how can you predict when the smell will be there as it is not constant.

Our pricing includes on line fees and such so it was $18 per night and we used this as a spot to refill, dump and recharge batteries after boondocking for a bit.
Our site was very small, just big enough for our 28 ft trailer and sloped toward the road.
Facilities were very nice, toilets, showers.
Unfortunately the other review about the smell coming from the refineries was very accurate. I woke up both nights to it thinking something was wrong in the camper before remembering our location.

We like state parks. Wanted to find something close to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. This was the closest one. We booked on line and pick a spot which we discovered was handicapped only though the description said handicapped accessible. When we got there the camp host was helpful and said we could take any spot open in sites 40 and up. That was when we learned about the first come first served spots. Found one we really like. It has been very quiet and good space between sites. About a 45 minute drive to Carlsbad Cavers.
My only complaint would be we spent $12 on a reservation we really didn’t need.

Another very nice NM state park. It's a fairly long run off the highway, but the road is fine. Sites aren't exactly level or on the water, but they are clean and well spaced. From our side of the camp loop there were a couple trails that ran toward the water, but didn't actually reach a beach. Still, all in all, another very nice state park.

Here for 14 days. Beautiful Brantley Lake. I have 3bars of Verizon 4G LTE. So I can work and stream netflix, etc. shower stalls are private and fairly spacious with plenty of hot water. Each spot is fairly level. I got an electric spot and it has a shelter with a nice picnic table and rock wall as a wind break.

Stayed for three nights in #19. Quiet and clean area. Hot showers and about 30 minutes back to Carlsbad, about an hour to the Cavern.

This is our second time stopping here. We had site 17 this time for 4 nights We had water, electric, full Verizon signal and open sky for satellite. Covered picnic tables are always great for me. This site was level and a good size. There is a lot of space between sites at this campground. I could post pictures but there is already over 100! The last two nights we moved to a FCFS site # 42 to wait out the high winds before moving on. This was also a great site.

We camped at the Limestone campground at Brantley Lake State Park in late-April with peaceful views of the lake and beautiful evening sunsets. Our campsite was a level-paved back-in pad with 30 amp hookup, water hookup, a nice picnic shelter, and fire ring. The campground is well maintained with clean restrooms and free warm showers. However, during our visit the dump station was closed. We received 4-bars of Verizon service. We hiked the trails at the campground down to the lake, a very leisurly hike with a few scattered wildflowers. We also visited the Carlsbad Caverns, a wonderful cave experience, spectacular formations within the caves, and an easy one mile walk through the caverns.

The FCFS sites are 40 through 51 and they have W/E at each not like the State Park north of here which has none. The dump is closed but both towns north and south have free dumps just off route 285.

Loved our stay here! Spots were spaced out. People were friendly, the town is a bit far but I loved the dark nights away from lights. Super clean facilities, nice trails. Will be happy to stay again when passing though
