Stopped here for a couple nights on the way to New Mexico. Took the tour of the caverns — the tour was…unique, but the caverns themselves were pretty cool.

I forgot to test the actual speeds, but on Verizon I had barely 1 bar — couldn’t even make a consistent call (kept dropping), so don’t expect to be able to work from here. On AT&T, with an antenna plugged into the hotspot, it was minimally better, but still only 1 bar and not strong enough for a webinar or video call. Would need to drive into town for that (~10 minutes).

Stars were beautiful at night!! Very little light polution here.

This was a great spot with plenty of little nooks and crannies to park the rig. Only 30 minutes from Craters of the Moon. However, once we pulled onto the road, we took the first right turn in. We soon realized that it was too narrow for our RV and was putting some major scratches down the side; however, we couldn't turn around! So, learn from our rookie mistake and only park in the spaces that are very clearly big enough for your rig.

Great views day and night (stars are awesome) and plenty of space. Some broken bottles and trash, so keep your shoes on and help clean it up.

AT&T - 28.6 mbps upload, 10.7 mpbs download (without antenna or booster)
Verizon - non-existent for the most part. Sometimes we’d get a few bars of 3G, but nothing that you could work off of.

We conducted our video calls easily on AT&T speeds.

DO NOT STAY HERE! We are full time RVers (of 4 years) and have stayed all over the country. Stayed here April 2023 and this is one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had and the only time we’ve left a campground and double paid at a different location. If you like staying in an RV storage lot where you can high five your neighbors, this place is for you. Reasons to avoid:
* You are paying $50 a night for a grass parking spot. No amenities at all - no showers, no laundry facilities.
* There is no picnic table/fire ring, or even space to put out a chair. There isn’t space for an outdoor rug, but even if there was, it is not allowed. The rules contract that you read through and sign is pages long.
* We both work remotely and were interrupted during our meetings twice! Once because they said our hose had a leak and they wanted to let us know they had unhooked it and once because they were mowing the grass and needed us to move our Jeep from in front of our RV (our designated spot)… this has never happened at any other campground.
* Then, without our permission, the maintenance man picked up our hose and THREW IT AWAY.
* We told them we were going to be out of town on the next mowing day but that we were leaving our Jeep with the RV. They said we’d need to leave the keys with them so they could move it to mow while we were gone. WHAT?!
* It’s cash only and no refunds so that when, like us, you realize you made a mistake and should’ve stayed elsewhere - no getting your money back.

We moved across the street to the Camping World Racing Resort. It’s cheaper, is a real campground with all the amenities, and had an awesome experience for our last week in Charlotte. So, learn from our mistake and book their first.

The sites are all individually owned, so you will pay anywhere from $89-$250 (lake front). Most of the amenities (pool, spa, snack shop) are all closed due to COVID and any amenities that are open are for the owners of the sites only.

Most sites have a grill and BBQ pit, but you aren’t allowed to use them as they are also for the owners only. Our running joke the whole weekend was, “That’s probably for owners only.” and we left wondering what we paid such a high price for.

So, currently you are paying for location and hookups. There is an access sidewalk to the lake, so we walked along the lake each morning. We did hike Cougar Crest Trail (review on AllTrails) as that was walking distance from the campground. Beautiful hike!

Many of the lots are for sale, ranging from $200,000 to $450,000 for a lot!

We would likely not stay here again unless we had company as we did this past weekend.

Clean campground - well kept up. Nice laundry room and showers. Even though there are 4 bars of Verizon, the download/upload speed is abysmal. (1.3 mbps download and 4.2 mpbs upload) We were not able to work on our Verizon hotspot and could barely Google on our phones. Our friends who have Verizon had to drive to Starbucks (~5 min) to work for the day.

Our AT&T hotspot was strong (31.1 mbps download and 9.4 mbps upload)!! We were both able to be on video calls and zoom meetings during the day on AT&T. Campground WiFi was spotty.

Hot air balloon spotting every morning when you drive into the city!

We stayed for a week while waiting for our tow car to get repaired. One of few free places in the area that is open in the winter. Plenty of spots to choose from. Just look for an empty fire ring and claim the spot as your home. A Mavericks (free water and dump) is about 10 minutes north of this spot & several propane options as well about 15 minutes north. The lake with snow is GORGEOUS — both the sunsets and sunrises (posted on our Insta @minihousebigliving). It did get a little muddy, but we were never worried about getting stuck.

We are in a 23 ft Class C.

Verizon had 2 bars and went in and out. AT&T was 1 bar and pretty terrible. We were able to do most of our work calls with our Verizon hotspots & mimo antenna. Weboost didn’t help at all.

Definitely not the nicest KOA we’ve visited — older rigs throughout the park, no trash pickup and the trash cans are few and far between. However, for the location (30 minutes to Sundance & 1 hr to Park City) & price ($40/night including taxes with KOA membership), you can’t beat it.

We were in site 205 and the wifi was excellent. We were both able to conduct our work video conferences throughout the day.

Verizon = 2.26 Mbps download speed, 0.35 Mbps upload speed

AT&T = 6.1 down & 1.1 up

We were unable to work (zoom calls and webinars) from our site; however, if you drive up the hill to the rec hall, I got 15 down and 6 up with AT&T. Was able to run zoom meetings from there, but not ideal.

The park itself is quaint and nice. Many critters roaming around at night. There’s a playground for the kids and a scavenger hunt around the park they can complete and turn in for a prize.

Takes 45-60 minutes to get to Austin.

This place was AWESOME! We planned to stay for 1 night and ended up staying 5!

We called the City of Oceanside’s Customer Care at 760-435-4500 to see if overnight parking was closed or allowed (the review below confused us). Right now lot 11B is OPEN for overnight parking. 11A and 12 are not, but 11B had plenty of spots when we arrived around 8:30p the first night.

We got an oceanfront spot. There’s a playground right next to the parking lot which was perfect for my niece.

A huge white sand beach on one side and seals in the harbor on the other. Both Verizon and AT&T signals were strong enough for zoom calls during the day.

There was some noise at night, but our sound machine tuned it out. Plenty of shops, coffee and eateries within walking distance.

$10 for day parking + $20 for overnight = $30 for a 24 hour period

From May 15-Sep 15 the day parking is $15 with overnight still at $20.

5 night maximum stay.
