Unlike the earlier reviews, there were at least a dozen RVs here, probably due to the closures of so many national and state campgrounds (COVID-19), so we understand the density. It’s very close to Beatty, pretty quiet considering it’s right off 95. It’sa little more crowded than we’d like, but these days in our quest to return home, we’re happy for the spot.

We weren’t sure we’d stay, until we pulled in. Quiet, end of the road parish park. Only about 1/4 of the sites were occupied and we got one on the water. The host was great- he gave us some charcoal and we offered to pay him but he didn’t take it. Perfect layover between Grand Isle and Lafayette, even if a short detour off the highway. No tables, but we have one for these situations. Some noise from the septic treatment facility, but we accepted this without issue compared to street noise at other places.

We didn’t camp because it was extremely windy and forecasted to get down to the teens, so we just soaked and kept going. I’ve read reviews where folks parked their vans right in front of the one main pool- please do not ever do this. It’s a lovely spot, and nobody has a right to hog the pool. Be respectful! There are plenty of spots to camp around the area with east access to the pools.

The pool was hot, perfect for a cold, windy day, and clean. Thanks to all before us for keeping it clean!

Also, someone’s missing a big set of keys- if it’s you, they’re right by the blue pool. I hope you get them back.

Trying to get home to CA, escaping COVID-19 and crowds, we couldn’t find a place in Artesia late in the day, and lucked onto this one- so glad we were turned away earlier.

Quiet camp setting, nice bathhouse, right next to the river. Laundry, full HUs, WiFi (can be spotty depending on how many are logged in). Lots to do in the area. Families with kids were here trying to keep them occupied while schools are closed due to the virus, but so much room for them to play they were never a bother.

Some periodic road noise, but really quiet at night. Sites are level, gravel, w/ picnic table and some big trees.

It’s cold-7000+ ft elevation, bring your jackets! We escaped the howling winds of the Carlsbad area, and happily traded them for brisk mountain air.

We reserved this site because we had to stay over for some repairs. we arrived on Sunday after the office closed at 2pm. The reservation was no problem, and the office staff I worked with was very nice. The low rating is due to a very overpriced charge for sticking us in a super tight squeeze with encroachment by both neighbors, a power pole and equipment that took up half the site, and just plain too much $$ for the site. We stayed for free the next nite at the Island View Casino down the road. There was no place at our site to cook outside (our repair was to fix broken propane line, so we’ve been having to cook outdoors). It looks like many permanent residents, and there was no issue with this.

We pulled in after hours and although no prices were posted, the instructions were clear and we parked in one of the “after hours” pull thru slots. Everything was spotless - shower, laundry, rev room. There is a well equipped gym, and the facility overall was very well taken care of. The owner told us about the Thursday night BBQ and live music, too bad we missed that!! Although there was highway noise and entering was lit up more than our night before at Big Bend NP, it was to be expected right off the highway going into a good size town, and like someone else said, the owners can’t help that. If you get there early enough and can rent a space toward the back of the property, the noise might be reduced.

Right off I-10, security gate, quiet park but definitely highway noise. There’s a supermarket about 3/4 mile down the road (there’s a McDonalds on this property but we prefer cooking our own meals). The price was a little high compared to other similar parks, but it was exactly half way between Galveston and NOLA, so it worked for us.

Arrived after dark, there was a group in the group site and another single car camper in the main parking area. As mentioned in another review, it looks more set up for day use. Road noise was pretty loud until the wee hours, then very quiet.
This was a fine stopover, between 99 and I-5, and east to find in the dark. We’re self contained, so didn’t use any of the facilities. Heard a couple of owls hooting at each other.

We arrived on Thanksgiving evening without reservations. The campground was full, so we pulled into the Day Use Lot across the highway along the beach. Same price to camp, dry camping only, in a parking lot, but we had the entire lot to ourselves. We were able to run the generator for a few minutes without bothering anyone. Some road noise, but more wave action, so very relaxing. The only caveat is vacate by 9 am. Great for a stopover without planning ahead.

We came up 395 to Reno with no reservations and we’re having trouble finding a spot to land for the night. GSR is $60+resort fees just to park, so we tried River View. Office was closed when we called, so we showed up to see if there were any openings. Phone # to Camp Host (very nice folks) was answered and they got us right in. Super easy and convenient. We Ubered in to town for dinner. The park is right on the Truckee River and near the train (3-4 over the night), but trains don’t bother us, so that wasn’t a bother.
Good WiFi and cell (Verizon).
