A small pond and an old mine are the attractions but nothing special. Evidence of lots of wild burros but we didn't see any.

We spent one night as a stop over while heading north up Hwy 95. We were the first one's there and had our choice to any spot. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of this random pond by the highway and even more surprised to hear there is fishing. We didn't fish but did see some local fisherman cast in the early morning. Standard Hwy noise but perfect spot as a overnighter.

We are heading South for the winter. Decided to stop here. 20 degrees cooler than Yuma right now. Hi 70s is better than hi 90s. Quite a bit of things to see in the area.

Conveniently located in the middle of nowhere, this is a large mostly flat dirt/rock area that is easy to access from Hwy 95 just south of Beatty NV. Plenty of room for dozens of rigs of any size although only three of here early March 2018. Road noise at night was limited to the occasional truck.

Bombo's Pond is easily located with the GPS coordinates on Campendium - just turn onto Vanderbilt Rd from Hwy 95 and you're there. The site appears to be an old mining operation, and there is plenty of wide open space for everyone from big rigs to tents. The pond is great for fishing or letting your dogs swim - our dogs had so much fun!
The highway noise wasn't disturbing, and only one other rig showed up to camp while we were there overnight. They parked over the hill and closer to the pond, and that was the last we saw of our neighbors.
The site appears to get frequent usage and there was plenty of trash around, including an abandoned purse in one of the fire rings. Verizon coverage was very spotty. I had trouble talking on the phone, but was able to upload a photo to facebook.
This is a quick and easy overnight spot while traveling along Hwy 95, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

This is a cute area to stop, hike and fish. The only problem is that is smells like donkey dung and urine! Oh my gosh the smell was so bad when we visited Jan 2019. The neighboring town Beatty is annoyed by all the donkeys in the area.
We had a nice time exploring Beatty, and Death Valley. Kids enjoyed hiking in the area and collecting rocks. Beatty is a cute little town.

My ex and I stayed here on our way down. We had just done a lot of driving to get out of the cold and this was our first real stop for any length of time. It was quiet, a little bit of road noise but nothing bad. We managed to get a higher elevated spot to the northwest of the pond so had a great view. The hike up the hills is also worth it.
Come stocked up as Beatty is pretty limited for anything fresh.
Be sure to check out nearby Rhyolite as well as the art in the Goldwell Open Air Museum.

Such a great spot to overnight or even stay several nights! Some road noise from Hwy 95, but it was tolerable. You can fish and swim in the "pond" as we saw several folks fishing. There are burro's in the hills surrounding this area and they do come down to the campsites on occasion. Beatty is just a mile on up the hill, with a couple gas stations with diesel, along with a nice casino and there is a Denny's in town too! :) All in all I'd give this a two thumbs up and we'll be back!
