Stayed at site A16 - this smaller loop is a few minutes drive from the main campground and worth it. Had a level site on the creek, bathrooms were just okay (definitely worn), and the park was clean and walkable. Dump site in another loop. Spring Hill was on our direct route and recommended - $9 with our lifetime senior pass.

We were told that Caprock Canyons State Park was the best hiking trail park in Texas, and it proved that on nearly every path. Honey Flats Campground is well laid out - the sites have good spacing with high plains/desert landscaping in between. Shower facilities were excellent, well kept during our four night stay in late February 2024. Bonus points for having cool canyon sights a short walk from the back of our campsite. Definite recommend the park for hikers of all skill levels.

Came here solely for the experience of having a waterfront site on the Mississippi River - totally worth it. River traffic a plus! Amenities are minimal yet functional. The grounds are clean, the immense green area is welcoming, and the walking trail along the water side are interesting and relaxing. Highway access, convenience stores/fuel are about ten minutes away. Enjoyed every minute of our overnight stop.

Stayed for two nights in late September. Our paved pull through site was easily leveled. Water/electric at site worked fine, clean restrooms, didn’t use their shower. Site 50 bordered an entrance road, nearby Hwy 100 road noise was noticeable. Nearly empty during our midweek stay, all sites reserved for the weekend - locals know this place. Regular ranger patrols, lots of horse/boat opportunities, cool bridge across the lake. Nearby Pinson Mounds Archaeological Park worth a visit. Senior discount got us down to $27 per night. Recommend this park!

Too short a stay for us - arrived on a September Saturday to a near capacity park, departed Monday leaving maybe a handful of weekday campers to have some solitude. Looks like most all the pull throughs required leveling; water and electric at most of the sites. Waterside sites are brilliant; lake views from most all the campground. Sites are all sizes. Restrooms and grounds were exceptionally clean, staff routinely patrolled and we saw the sheriff daily. Didn’t have time for the trails, but hopefully next time. $45 per night (includes fees/tax).

Came on a three night stay to hike the trails- which are fun. The pleasant surprise was the West Rim campground, recently updated. All new water/electric/dump at each site, leveled with gravel, and most are extremely large. Great trees and good distance from your neighbors in the first 20+ sites (although all trees removed in the pull-throughs). Super clean wash facilities. Pleasantly quiet, a trailhead for the impressive West Rim Loop Trail starts in the campground. Highly recommended.

Our late February stay at Bottomless Lakes State Park, in Lea Lake Campground #14, was marked by two days of red flag warning winds, including some 50mph+ gusts! The evenings were less blustery, and the morning of our departure day was calm enough to allow us to spend time visiting the lakes. The campground is quite plain, but the shower facilities were clean and friendly rangers regularly patrolled the area. Site 14 backed up to construction debris from recent upgrades, and featured a large electric panel - unsightly for sure, and those items don't look to be going away. But overall an efficient and clean state park. We'd return if ever in the area again.

Stayed for three nights, Thur - Sun in early September. About a third full on Thursday, nearly sold out on the weekend. Sites are close together in the B loop - we stayed in 18 with Water & electricity - but C loop was the best, especially the waterfront sites. All staff were super friendly, bathhouses were a cut above most state parks, and a family-friendly vibe was evident. Fun trails in the park, easy access to Hot Springs. Highly recommend.

Our three night stay at Lake Arrowhead State Park in early March was a decompress time at the end of a three week jaunt with our pet cats as first-time traveling companions. The cats loved the roomy campsite - easy to back in, level concrete pads, water/electric as advertised. Patches of mesquite forest separate some sites as well as the camping loops, and a spring carpet of plush grass there was a big hit. The single washroom for over 35 sites means get there early. The park crew worked valiantly, but that facility is heavily used. As for the park itself...its appeal was elusive for us, but fishing and boating enthusiasts were out during our mid-week stay. Recommend as the camping area was excellent. P.S. The ever-working oil pump was a constant distraction while outside, but manageable.

Our four-night stay in mid-May was marked by near daily rain and a severe thunderstorm warning delivered by the camp hosts. The campground’s best sites ring a meadow as you enter the south area. Our inner site (with electric) 45 was almost totally shaded, roomy but tucked in close to our neighbors. Typical Wisconsin parks screen door vault toilets, the main shower/restrooms were good with potable water right at the park entrance. Bicycling and hiking the bay view trails in the park was very cool, and it’s a good central base for exploring both Door County and the Green Bay area.
