Bluewater Lake State Park is a well-kept facility, mainly a fishing/boating/kayak destination. We stayed three nights in mid-May on the Electric Loop at site 5 - a challenge for leveling, but most sites were more consistently level. Good spacing, water/electric were fine. Our internet was sporadically effective, texts generally okay. Facilities (showers. rest rooms) were on par for a good state park.

The lake itself is very pretty, most of the campgrounds are non-electric with community water spigots. A pleasant surprise was the Canyonside Trail, a two-mile excursion into the canyon cut by Bluewater Creek. We walked the trail on a Saturday and only saw three other visitors - folks don't come to Bluewater Lake to hike!

The park is semi-secluded and was a great place to relax for a couple days. Recommended!

Grants Journey KOA is a well run operation, with a kitchen that will cook dinner and deliver to your site. Full hookups, the parking lot atmosphere offset by a cool hiking trail attached to the park. The "Journey" details the geologic history of the area - volcanos, lava fields, and cool mountain views. We walked this short trail four times during our overnight stay.

Came here solely for the experience of having a waterfront site on the Mississippi River - totally worth it. River traffic a plus! Amenities are minimal yet functional. The grounds are clean, the immense green area is welcoming, and the walking trail along the water side are interesting and relaxing. Highway access, convenience stores/fuel are about ten minutes away. Enjoyed every minute of our overnight stop.

Stayed for two nights in late September. Our paved pull through site was easily leveled. Water/electric at site worked fine, clean restrooms, didn’t use their shower. Site 50 bordered an entrance road, nearby Hwy 100 road noise was noticeable. Nearly empty during our midweek stay, all sites reserved for the weekend - locals know this place. Regular ranger patrols, lots of horse/boat opportunities, cool bridge across the lake. Nearby Pinson Mounds Archaeological Park worth a visit. Senior discount got us down to $27 per night. Recommend this park!

Here for two nights at the end of September - super campground! Relatively new Mississippi River State Park opened in 1999. Very small campground (15 rv sites, all FHU) yet spacious feel on a spit of land with beautiful lake views from every site. Great staff, everything here feels new. Close to historic sites, backcountry drives and real good bbq in Marianna. No internet for us at the site, Wi-fi five miles away at the visitors center. A winner!

Stayed for two nights at the end of September. Relatively new Mississippi River State Park (established 1999) campground where everything feels…new! All rv sites very large and FHU, paved and level, super clean restroom/showers. Enchanting views of Bear Creek Lake from every site. Very small (15 rv sites) yet feels spacious. Close to historic sites, cool drives in the national forest, and excellent bbq in nearby Marianna. No internet or phone for us, wi-fi available five miles away at the visitors center. A winner if you’re in this part of the country!
