Bluewater Lake State Park is a well-kept facility, mainly a fishing/boating/kayak destination. We stayed three nights in mid-May on the Electric Loop at site 5 - a challenge for leveling, but most sites were more consistently level. Good spacing, water/electric were fine. Our internet was sporadically effective, texts generally okay. Facilities (showers. rest rooms) were on par for a good state park.

The lake itself is very pretty, most of the campgrounds are non-electric with community water spigots. A pleasant surprise was the Canyonside Trail, a two-mile excursion into the canyon cut by Bluewater Creek. We walked the trail on a Saturday and only saw three other visitors - folks don't come to Bluewater Lake to hike!

The park is semi-secluded, and was a great place to relax for a couple days. Recommended!

Stayed at Grumpy Bear for three nights in mid-September. Excellent location for day trips to Great Smoky NP and surrounding area. Campground wi-fi worked well. Excellent showers/restrooms/laundry, fairly level sites with full hookups, riverside sites are very nice. Staff helped us park in one of those sites - they are very narrow. You will get to know your neighbors! Cherokee dancers on Saturday night at the incongruous tipis on site. Recommended!

Grants Journey KOA is a well run operation, with a kitchen that will cook dinner and deliver to your site. Full hookups, the parking lot atmosphere offset by a cool hiking trail attached to the park. The "Journey" details the geologic history of the area - volcanos, lava fields, and cool mountain views. We walked this short trail four times during our overnight stay.

Base camp for three days in Asheville. Friendly, helpful staff. Well kept grounds across two rv sections, leveling required and the driveways are tight on the upper section. They had a park-wide water issue during our stay and handled communications and expectations well. Clean showers and restrooms, and excellent laundry. Location is great for West Asheville and downtown destinations, easy highway access. There’s the rub: near constant interstate rumble, often distractingly loud. The back of the lower B section had the least noise. But we couldn’t sit outside for long at all due to the road noise. To be fair, the issue was the first thing noted by staff at check-in.

We needed a place on short notice for a Fri-Sat in March in Lubbock TX, and Camelot Village delivered. Level sites with full hook ups, new laundry on-site and perfectly good shower/washroom facilities. Even being close to a highway, the city setting was relatively quiet. Relaxed, informal check-in for us at this mainly long-term facility. Clean, felt safe, excellent wi-fi and only six miles from our ultimate destination, the Buddy Holly Center. We mainly search out state parks and other public lands; but with none available around Lubbock, Camelot Village was an excellent in-town alternative.

Came here solely for the experience of having a waterfront site on the Mississippi River - totally worth it. River traffic a plus! Amenities are minimal yet functional. The grounds are clean, the immense green area is welcoming, and the walking trail along the water side are interesting and relaxing. Highway access, convenience stores/fuel are about ten minutes away. Enjoyed every minute of our overnight stop.

Stayed at Santa Rosa Lake two days in early May 2023, a pleasant experience while still close to the interstate. All hookups worked fine, the pull through paved site was pretty level. Showers were par for a state park, and clean. Interesting hiking trails along the shoreline, and already getting hot and very windy. Better internet with WeBoost.

Lake McClellan Campground is a quick 4 miles from I-40 at Allenreed, TX, and it's a good one. Far enough from the highway to feel like the windy backcountry. No reservations, we pulled in around 3pm on a Friday in early May and snagged Site 13 - water, electric, a bit removed from the other sites. Restrooms were super clean, showers functional. Noticed a few sites had leaky water spigots like ours; we turned our water off when not in need to save the resource. Two ATV trails begin at the campground, so be prepared for engine noise and dust, but probably quieter during the week. With the lake long since dried up, most folks are here to ride their machines.

Really nice one-night stopover at this small, simple yet well tended campground, no reservations taken. Only four miles from the interstate, but far enough to feel like the backcountry. We rolled in around 3pm on on a Friday and grabbed pull through site 13, with electricity and water. Two ATV trailheads make this campground a noisier place, but mid-week must be quieter. Early in the season, restrooms were super clean. Noticed several water spigots with bad leaks; ours had a minor but constant leak, and got turned off when we didn't need it. Lake McClellan looks to have been bone dry for years - a walk down the old boat ramp into the middle of the lake bed was a fun stroll.
