Our experience here was just okay. The park itself is your typical KOA with kids activities, a pool, playground, and mini golf. Our spot was super narrow, just about a 4 foot grass barrier between us and the next RV on each side.

We were just there for the weekend, so it was fine. But didn’t like the fire ring being right up on the road and so close to the neighbors truck. The close proximity made it pretty noisy - it wasn’t even anyone being out of hand - we could just hear every door opening and closing because we were so close together.

This Park is probably the most “resort-like” one we’ve found thus far. They’ve got a variety of site types, so you can fancy it up to your liking - all the way up to a private hot tub on the premium sites. It’s only 15 min from almost anywhere you’d want to go in New Orleans, and they offer a shuttle to make it super easy for you to get downtown without searching or paying for parking.🚃

Pros:
- Passport America eligible!
- Laundry on-site
- Pool + Hot Tub
- Good coverage on AT&T, Verizon + T-Mobile
- Clean sites and park
- Great customer service
- Bar + Restaurant on-site🍴

Cons: - Drive to park is rough - bad roads and sketchy area (once there it’s totally fine)
- Restaurant was crazy busy for football games - kinda loud and we couldn’t get a spot to eat there
- Most “Deluxe” waterfront sites have views blocked by houseboats or other boats in the marina
- The steamboats nearby were playing pipe organs for a while which made for interesting conference calls

While we had a nice view from the back side of our campsite, there wasn’t much else that would bring us back here. First, the drive is pretty narrow and cars are parked all along the side making it extremely difficult to back in. Luckily the people across from our site were leaving as we pulled up or I don’t think we would have made it into our spot. Our campsite was not a great fit for our rig - the hookups were in the middle on the drivers side instead of at the back, and so we had to choose between our sewer hookup or putting out our slide. There was also sludge all around the hookups which was pretty gross. Lastly, there was very little room between campsites, and so you hear everyone coming and going around you... including loading in and packing up.

It was only a 10 minute drive into town, and close to the highway for getting back on the road. The price point at $45/night (with a good Sam discount) is far too high for what you get here.

We stayed for one month here to test out our new travel trailer before heading out on the road. Overall it’s been a great experience - very quiet and peaceful although the park has been full (even in October). We would stay here again.

The spots are close together, but it’s not the worse we’ve seen. If you’re staying monthly the “preferred” spots are only slightly more and give you a lot more room and a grassy lawn instead of gravel. Our spot was a “premium” spot and was right on the lake. The only thing that bothered us was that our neighbors sewer connection was about 1 ft from our fire ring. The monthly fee does not include electric, that is paid at the end of your stay based on use.

As others explained the owner is very direct, not super chatty. But we were fine with that so long as we have whatever we needed, and we did.

We work full time from our RV, and had no issues with our phone or internet service. We primarily use an ATT hotspot for Wi-Fi and Verizon and T-Mobile for cell services. The park Wi-Fi has seemed to work well too, only slowed one night while we were watching Amazon Prime and we switched to our own hotspot.

The local area is quaint, but there are things to do. We enjoyed visiting the Forge brewery and Prairie State Winery. There are also a few restaurants in the local downtown area - a breakfast spot, a few bars, Mexican and Italian restaurant. Grocery stores within a mile, and a great butcher shop right at the entrance to the park (high prices but the meat was great).

We had to go back to the city occasionally for work, it’s not a short drive but you can get there in just over and hour if you go outside of high traffic times. St. Charles/ Geneva is only about 30 min away and has another cute downtown area with breweries, restaurants and a comedy club.

We stayed a little over a month, and while it was generally a decent stay, our experience was tarnished by a rude phone call and an unannounced long-term pool/hot tub closure with no apologies.

We booked one month + 3 days here, on the first of the three extra days I received a call from the front desk and answered to an angry question: “Are you planning on leaving anytime soon?!” It was clear she thought we were squatting, so I explained that we did book 1 month + 3 days and that the person who booked us said she had to book it as two separate stays b/c of their booking system’s limitations. It appeared that she realized that she was wrong and that we were in fact still booked on the site, but she never changed her tone, apologized, or even made a slight suggestion that she was in error and a complete a** hole.👎🏼

We chose this park, in part, because they had an amazing hot tub and pool. We enjoyed it almost every day for the first 2 weeks, and then one freezing night we scurried over to the pool area to see a sign that said it was closed for repair. We were so bummed, but hoped it’d be a quick fix. I went into the office the next day to find out when it’d be back up and running and learned it was closed indefinitely as they were completely refinishing the pool area. Now I realize maintenance and updates are necessary, but surely this was planned in advance and yet we weren’t informed when we were booking, when we checked in, or when the work started... and if we had we might have made other arrangements.👎🏼

Pros:
▪️Hot tub/pool when in service
▪️15-30 min drive to Sedona, Cottonwood (with parks impossible to get into for extended stays)
▪️Decent connection on AT&T hotspot
▪️Clean park, garbage pick up
▪️Club house and bathrooms were nice
▪️Small fitness center
▪️Book exchange
▪️Near Cliff Castle casino and Montezuma’s Castle

Cons:
▪️Aforementioned experiences
▪️Neon casino sign lights up your RV w/ flashing lights at night
▪️Super close campsites
▪️Cement pads are not level at all
▪️Neighbors who play bagpipes every day for 1.5 hours
▪️Highway/road noise🔊

We are moving on today after an incredible week spent at @skidawayislandstatepark. When we decided we wanted to RV full-time, this is exactly the location we had in mind.

Our site was beautiful, clean, spacious and tree-covered. We had plenty of connectivity to work our 9-5 and had a peaceful, quiet space in and outdoors to do so. It was a short-drive (15 min) to the center of the historic district in Savannah, and we found easy, cheap parking every time; making it easy to explore and get the most of our days here. Most importantly, the park had nature trails (hiking/biking), nearby boat access for us to launch our kayak and laundry!

This park is definitely on our list of places we’d like to return to. I hope you all will get to experience it too!
