We enjoyed our stay at this privately owned campground. We had a nice spot by the creek, it was well kept, and we loved listening to the creek. The grounds are very well kept and the employees are amazing. We do love the painted rock section, as my girl loves painting rocks. We weren't as happy with the street noise unfortunately. it's like nobody in the area has mufflers and your only 30 yards or so from the main highway. All in all i was pleased with the campground but honestly, my biggest disappointment was with the pump out. It's a somewhat tricky turn to get into it. There's a campsite right next to it, so much so, i had to move their pick nic table to be able to get to my pump out supplies. While i understand they're trying to keep the area beautiful, the river rock around the pump out will almost twist an ankle when your trying to traverse between your rig and the "wall" between you and the camp site. As i stated earlier, it's privately owned and i know they're trying to their best to give their guest a great experience. For those reasons, we'd stay here again. The minor inconveniences are not really that bad.

Just spent 5 days at Fooshee, for the most part it was good. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, had a waterfront spot that we did enjoy. That said, i don't think we'd stay here again. The biggest reason, the very poor design of the water spigot and electric receptacle. The water spigot is in the ground right next to the mud, very hard to get to. Also, watch where you stand turning the water off as they have a frost free adapter on them that spews water at you when you turn it off. The electrical, there is NO way to shut it off. The receptacle is about 12" off of the ground which means when you connect your surge protector, your connections are laying on the ground. When it rains, it rains and splatters directly onto your plug/connections.
The pump out, is slanted away from the sewer connection so your tanks drain slowly and you can't get all of the waste/water out of them.
The bathroom stalls are only about 4' high, so while your tanking a dump, anyone can walk in and look you right in the eye.
They have a sign telling you to stop and check in, but apparently that means stop dead in your tracks and park in the road as there is no turn around if you pull into the office area.
All in all, we had a pleasant time and enjoyed our spot. If it wasn't for the very poor design of the campground we would have had a better time.

The campground is very nice, clean, level and we stayed at one of the lake front sites. The campground isn't far from town so you have the ability to eat at a restaurant or run to the grocery if you need to. The area is still recovering from a tornado but the campground wasn't hurt by it. Caution: The lake is well known for having snakes in it so i don't recommend swimming in it. We had one swim right up to the bank behind our site. We did LOVE kayaking in the lake though. Lots of Eagles around so keep an eye out for them. Cell service was 2LTE bars on Verizon, but we had good coverage most of the time. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a very well kept campground. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they take great care of the grounds. The bathrooms were scrubbed daily, we never had a problem with neighbors or noise. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Site 33 was perfectly level side to side and easy to get into with our 27' TT. The hookups were good (only 30 amp electric, which is exactly what we needed), not hard to get to as some other campgrounds are. The bathhouse is just a few steps away, really from anywhere on the grounds as there are several bathhouses. If you stay here, you must eat at the Fork, you'll see it on your way in. There isn't much within 25 to 30 minutes of the grounds but that wasn't a problem for us. We will definitely be back!

As we drove into the Campground, i quickly realized it was going to be one of my favorite campgrounds. Very clean, well laid out, nice spacious sites etc. When we got to our site, #23, i knew it was my favorite campground so far. For all of the same reasons, plus our site was fairly well shaded, nice and wide, trees for a hammock plus a trail down to the water so my Girl could launch her kayak.
The site was nice and mostly level, the water and electrical connections they have here should be a standard at all campgrounds. That said, we couldn't drink the water from the spigot. It didn't taste good and i tried refilling a bottle we freeze to keep stuff cool, and it foamed up like the head of a beer.
I do have to say, they need more help. The camp check in was only open once as we came in and out. If you needed help, there was a note on the door telling you where you could find them, but if you had a camper and trying to check in, it would have been a real headache.
i know sites 21, 23 & 25 have access to the lake and others were tying their pontoons up during their stay.
For primitive campers, the area behind the main office is one of the coolest tent camping areas we've seen. Very tall evergreen trees, well laid out.
I highly recommend this campground if you're in the area or intend on camping while you visit Mammoth Cave NP.

We had a great stay @ EESP. We originally booked it because of the elevated decks that serve as camp sites. Every spot on the water had a great view in my opinion. There is a lot of tree coverage to keep you cool in the summer. Lots of things to see and do in and out of the park, IF, you're into fishing, swimming, kayaking etc. Other than that, it's pretty remote. i was disappointed in the cell coverage by Verizon, but that doesn't reflect on the park itself. I do however, wish they could strengthen their wifi signal at the waterfront sites. I know it's camping but i work remotely and need to keep in touch with the outside world when we travel. I do recommend a stay at EESP if you're looking to get back to nature!

We stayed in the West Rim Campground and i love the way it's laid out. Site 34 has multi levels, one for the camper, one which could be a sitting or tent area, and one for the firepit. It backs up to woods but also has an open area that you could play numerous games (cornhole, football, frisbee etc) It also has a picnic table, grill and fire ring (all were in amazing shape). We purchased firewood from the visitor center but you can also purchase from camp host. Currently it's $6 a bundle and they keep it in a cute little outhouse looking storage building lol. It is a very clean, well maintained and quiet (while we were there) campground. If you are even slightly considering staying here, just go ahead and book it. It's an amazing campground surrounded by an equally amazing State Park.

One of my top 3 campgrounds so far. Very well kept, nice level lot, lots of deer playing around us, very close to lake, hiking wasn’t too difficult, great cell phone coverage with Verizon.

Carter Caves State park, is amazing. Well worth the visit for the caves, hiking trails, etc. The campground however, is way too dense. You feel like your cooking your neighbors dinner you’re so close. The particular weekend we were there, there were roughly 100 kids. And yes, I want kids to have fun, but the screaming, noisy electric rides, riding in the middle of the main road, walking through others campsites etc was just way too much. And just fyi, site 24 is VERY unlevel. Be sure to take extra buildup for your electric Jack. OH, the Verizon reception is very misleading on here. Maybe 1 bar part of the time. Not good at all

We enjoyed our time here, mostly because we were at the end of the island and had very quiet neighbors. The lake is beautiful and honestly, any site on the island i think would be a good spot. The spots closer to the Ranger Station, are just packed too tight for us. The lake level was a little low because of winter pool, but the lake was still beautiful and even more walkable. Our spot had descent wifi provided by the campground. The electric pole and water spigot were very new and worked as expected. The website said our spot was level, it is NOT but it wasn't too bad. The tongue of our trailer was only about 8 inches off the ground when we finally got it level. While i totally understand the check in time is 2, i've never been to a campground that wouldn't allow you in (within reason) if you got there a little early. That said, it did warn us not to get there early on the website. We got there 20 minutes early, trying to beat the rain and they made us wait til 2 to checkin. I do think it could be a better park if they updated the bathroom by the graveyard and made a few other improvements but i do think they're working on it. I did like having a park trash can beside each site. The picnic table was in nice shape as was the grill and the whole outdoor area at our site. We would definitely consider staying here again.
