We spent just one night at this park on our way south and liked it very much. The sites are nicely spaced and nearly level. Our site had water & electric hookups. Bathrooms are nice and clean.

This campground has a lot going for it: well maintained, clean bathhouse, many sites right on the water, friendly manager, good cell reception, and close to heart of Erie. Also right by Presque Isle State Park where one can walk along the water for miles on a paved path. There is a fair amount of "noise". By this I mean, trains, tug boats, fog horns, planes and maybe some road noise. But never too intrusive. There is little privacy between sites but they are well spaced. The sites themselves are nearly level. My one tiny knock on the place is that you have to walk through a grassy area to get to the bathroom. They should install a path so that on rainy days the grass doesn't get worn down and one's feet stay a little drier. I was there right at the end of September and as my second night was on October 1, the rate dropped to $25.

As others have posted, the sites are close together so not much privacy. But in exchange you do get to be a short walk from the beach. There is a store with ice cream among other things. This was one of the noisiest campgrounds I've camped at due to planes flying overhead including military aircraft and the grounds crew keeping the place up. Though at night all calmed down. I was there around the end of February 2019. Cell signal for both AT&T & Verizon were good. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were kept up. Showers were adequate.

We spent one night in mid-March and enjoyed our stay. Cell signal was good on both Verizon & AT&T. Campground was clean; the private bathrooms were for the most part clean. There are trails that go along the lake right from the campground. One strange occurrence: we had a cardinal "attack" our truck. It just coming back time after time and kept pecking at the passenger side door! Quite bizarre behavior we thought.

My rate includes senior discount. I camped during the third week in February. The campground was less than half filled. I was lucky with a site that was deep, level, and with a view of the lake including sunrises out my back window (likely only possible with leaves down off trees). There appeared to be good spacing between the sites. It was fairly quiet but for a few planes flying overhead. The bathhouse was clean and the showers more than adequate. Having never camped here before I went the wrong way initially: right after the check-in booth one needs to make their next right turn. There is a small sign near the ground that states campers only that I didn't see until I turned around. Additionally, my site, being a back-in site required going counter-clockwise on the loop it is on BUT there are no arrows or sign telling you to go that way. Luckily for me my RV is a class b and easy to maneuver. I never saw a host. The staff at check-in were very professional and friendly. They sell wood right there at the booth. There are trails one can walk right from the campground.

What's nice about this park is you're right by the water and the breeze feels good. But you do get a lot of highway noise though it comes across as white noise - not bad really. I showed up without a reservation and was directed to call the camp host who got me a spot which was nice but I would have preferred a tent site given they have electric as well and that works for me. Plus I liked their location. But he told me too late about those. When I asked him what the rate was - he didn't know. My site was level. I noticed no site are very private. That said, this park felt really safe to me. I often left my rig unlocked which I don't usually do. I had thought I might stay a coupe of nights but learning the rate was $38 was enough to get me going. The bathhouse was clean and the shower was okay with ample hot water. Cell signal was good. The young lady at the booth seemed unfriendly both times I interacted with her. Not my thing but I can see why folks would want to camp here.

The sites are fairly level and well spaced apart though not private. There is electricity at each site but no water hookups. There are really nice trails nearby. The beach is minutes away as are shops and restaurants. Firewood has to be bought off-site. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I would rate this campground higher but the noise from the Marine base is a bit much between the jets overhead and the sounds of target practice. At one point I thought it was thunder but it turned out to be sounds from the base. The bathrooms were clean. Cell signal on both Verizon & AT&T were strong.

This state park campground is unlike any I have stayed at in the past in that it lacked that "away from it all" feel. For one thing you can hear traffic noise all around. For another, it is quite small - you can literally walk from one end to the other in about 30 minutes. My site was near the pond, which was very nice. But there appears to be no public path to the pond so you sort of end up having to go through a camp site to get to the pond. Luckily, there were several empty sites so I never felt like I was trespassing. There is a one mile nature hike that is nothing to write home about. Other than that not much for hikers to do. There are boats and paddleboards available for rent during season. Lastly, I never saw the camp host but I did see several flags hanging from the trailer. One of the flags was a confederate flag. Given this is a state park I was surprised to see that. I know the park is in Georgia but this is 2019 and some folks take that flag as a symbol that they are not very welcomed.

I have stayed at this campground a couple of times in the past always off-season as in this latest case which was February 5th and 6th 2019. I like that it has lots of trees and the sites are spaced apart adequately though not a lot of privacy. I got a decent cell signal both on Verizon and AT&T. My first site, #93, turned out to be way too unlevel. I think a lot of the sites are way off from level. The very helpful & friendly camp host helped me select a better one. The bathrooms are dated but clean. The showers have ample hot water. The times I've gone it's been real quiet and peaceful.

I stayed 4 nights, Monday through Friday, in late March 2024. I found the park a most pleasant place to be especially at night. The park is in a dark sky area which means on a clear night one can see tons of stars. It is also quiet... but for the sounds of nature. There are many trails one can walk directly from the campground. The sites are well spaced and I can say mine, at least, was fairly level. I was unable to get an AT&T signal but my T-Mobile device got decent 5g. The bathrooms were clean and the showers looked good to me. There is a visitor center where one can buy souvenirs and ice cream (always a plus). Wood is sold at the host site and one can pay using Paypal! As others have noted, the roads leading to the park (I came from the north) are a bit windy and I was glad to be in a van and not pulling a trailer.
