Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on February 20, 2024This newly-refurbished campground couldn't be better located for paddlers. The boat launch into the White Oak River is only about 300 yards from the camping area. The White Oak River feeds into the intracoastal. (That said, the boat launch is designed for shallow-draft boats only.)
As for the campground proper, most spaces are generous, many are shaded, and the bathhouse and restrooms were clean. We used electrical hookups, and water spigots seemed conveniently located throughout the area. The hosts were friendly without being too friendly, and their site was neat and tidy as well.
The only downside is that you can hear road noise from NC 24, but it's not that bad. On the upside is close proximity to a major grocery store, in case you forgot to bring something.
I'm definitely looking toward to camping here again.

Cedar Point Campground is a pretty and clean National Forest campground. Many sites are nicely spaced and some are not. Our campsite backed up on another site's outdoor space, so it was hard to discern where ours stopped and the other began.
Sites are electric only (30 & 50 amp) and there are water spigots throughout the campground. If we stayed here again I would probably pick site #1.
There is an easy mile long walking trail by the boat ramp that's worth a visit.

Most campgrounds near Emerald Isle are parking lot style and very expensive. (We used to rent a beach house on the sound here.) This park is gorgeous and well-maintained. Lots of space between sites and lots of trees. Nearby is a beautiful hike through the marshes and a boat launch for your kayaks. This whole area is a kayakers dream. If you are a strong paddler, we recommend Hammocks Beach State Park for putting in to paddle to an ocean beach island. Good supermarket and fish markets nearby. Emerald Isle is close. Restaurants in charming Swansboro. My only concerns are that the bath house did not appear to have hot showers. (Might want to check.) I also wonder what the bug situation is like in the summer. Not bad in April. There was often a nice breeze. There is noise from the bridge traveling across the water at times. Also, nearby Camp LeJeune and the Johnson AFB can create noise, but not all day and not every day. I always travel with earplugs just in case.

Cedar Point is one of our goto campgrounds. We've been there several times and we are heading back again. LARGE sites with VERY clean bathrooms. Plenty to do in the area. Don't miss this one!

Within minutes of town and one bridge away from beautiful beaches, lies Cedar Point Campground. Upon entering the campground, you loop one way through to either your reserved site or the camp host. Spaces are extremely generous with large grassy areas and level paved sites for your RV. Tent sites with fine gravel, easy for staking out canopies and tents. Electric hookups are provided at each site, but water must be filled at the dump / fill station near the bath house. The bath house is rather dated and would benefit from a minor upgrade. The showers provide enough warm water for a comfortable experience. (please do not expect a nice steamy shower). Outside of the campground, but still within the forest, is a 1.9 mile walking trail through the marshland and forest with interpretive learning along the way. Also a boat launch for kayaks and canoes for those interested in paddling along the White Oak River. We had an excellent experience and will be returning again in the near future.

I read reviews for this campground and decided we needed to stop. It lived up to all of the praise. Very convenient to shopping and beaches. Walk to a 1.3 mile nature trail loop near the river. The only downside is there is no water at the sites, but worth the task of moving the rig and setting up again in order to stay the full week. Sites are large, paved and level. Camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Easy in and out for our 36ft class A, plus a toad.

The campground was close to capacity but super quiet. It is within a 1/4 mile of a nice 1.5 mile trail and a boat ramp that can be used to kayak out to Jones Island. You are also within 15 minutes of Hammocks Beach State park which has some fabulous kayaking, and of course close to the beach at Emerald Isle. We will be back!

Clean, quiet campground with ample space between camp sites. Although the campground was full, it did not feel crowded.

The host Jeff was warm and friendly. He does a great job keeping up on the area.
Nice paved sites. Site #10 was very level.
We didn’t hear any jet noise but we did stay over a weekend.
The walking trail was fun.
About 5 miles from a Walmart.
You have to go to Yana’s Ye olde restaurant. Soon as you cross over the bridge into Swansboro.

Great way to enjoy one of the best beaches in NC in a quiet, low key, shaded environment. We are going back for the third time. Access to great seafood, the Intercoastal Waterway and a wonderful coastal environment. Bring your bug spray and your fan/air conditioner.
